24.01.2022 Wowser! Changes the game somewhat.
23.01.2022 Absolute shocker. Cannot believe this kind of crap still goes on.
20.01.2022 Great article from JPs favourite newspaper.
20.01.2022 As a business owner, if you are looking for a way to estimate your PAYGW reductions under the Federal Govts. stimulus package(s), you may wish to visit: https://digit.business/payg-cashflow-boost-calculator Of course, call us if you want more information or to get your BAS done!
20.01.2022 People say: "Why would I want to be a member of a professional association? The intangible benefits dont seem worth it?" I love the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) my accounting association. If you read this article, you can see how my good friend and IPA CEO Andrew Conway goes in to bat for our members and the profession. Asking Shorten for an apology - priceless!
20.01.2022 Wonderful initiative by COSBOA. Get on it! https://www.cosboa.org.au/smallbusinessrelieffund

16.01.2022 Very sad news. A big part of the accounting and taxation scene for so long. RIP Paul Drum.
15.01.2022 Its always risking jumping the gun. This year, JP predicts it will be worse. We want you to come in and see us, but make sure you have everything you need first. Dont rely on the agent and/or the pre-fill.
15.01.2022 Massive effort by the Tasmanian Government in assisting small businesses. Call us on 63318811 now for advice around Small Business Support, Business Continuity, Small Business Loan Support, Cultural and Creative Industry Support and Business Vehicle Registration Relief.
15.01.2022 Common sense move. Good to see the IPAs Andrew Conway cited yet again.
15.01.2022 Proud to see this...
15.01.2022 They only had to listen to accountants in public practice! But hey, when have they ever done that?
14.01.2022 Employers, it may be wise to check up on your Award or Enterprise Agreement. You may be able to invoke "stand down" provisions (like Qantas, Virgin, etc.) rather than actually laying people off for good. See your IR/HR expert or Fair Work Australia (not us, we do accounting and tax stuff!).

12.01.2022 Great article from the IPA re: ATO support for businesses. https://www.publicaccountant.com.au//ato-sets-up-one-stop-

10.01.2022 Stressed about your business continuity? Are you a client (or should you be?) in Tasmania? Many staff are now working from home, but can connect to you easily by Zoom Skype, or similar. Please call 6331 8811 to find out more.... https://www.business.tas.gov.au//TasGov_COVID19_Factsheet_
10.01.2022 Help for those on temporary visas that may be struggling to support themselves. Please share. https://www.redcross.org.au//help-for-migrants-in-transiti
10.01.2022 And, this is how the watering down of the Royal Commission will begin. Nothing changes.
09.01.2022 Beware people. This is a reason why I would advocate for using the services of a registered tax agent. A good agent will filter out crap you really cannot use as a deduction, or alternatively, if they are complicit in dodgy claims you could claim against the agents professional indemnity insurance. If you do it yourself, you have no protection!
08.01.2022 Thank you Shine Lawyers. Happy New Financial Year! https://www.shine.com.au//p/how-to-choose-a-tax-accountant
08.01.2022 If you are an existing Centrelink customer, please dont try and contact them about any extra funds you may be due. This will we done automatically. If you contact them, you will only be unnecessarily adding to the queue and harming those who really need to talk to them. JP
06.01.2022 Good for business owners...
05.01.2022 Most of us intuitively feel the current governance and policy environment is crap, but here is a more academic and substantiated view on why.
04.01.2022 Gratitude is everything. Even if youre looking around and seeing no food in the cupboard and no money in the bank account. Perhaps your health is dicey? The b...est way to move forward, is at the beginning and end of every day, sit quietly and write down at least 10 things you are grateful for. Dont just write them down mechanically, feel the joy in your heart as you write. This will improve your circumstances in ways you cannot imagine. See more
04.01.2022 Surprise, surprise!
04.01.2022 Most of the professional bodies have frozen their fee increases for now. But, not the TPB!
03.01.2022 TALK TO YOUR BANK! Under the Govts. stimulus packages, your business may be eligible for loans to stay afloat. JP has just been listening to an expert with over 30 years in banking and he says you will require: 1.To already be solvent (not insolvent looking for a lifeline); 2. To have your management accounts prepared up to at least 31/1/2020;... 3. Your last 2 BAS payments; 4. Some kind of personal guarantee (yes, these are banks!); Please also note, like Centrelink this is perhaps best done or at least initiated, online. We also advise that you can apply for a deferral of merchant terminal fees for 3 months. It is also important to note, that any bank loan is just a loan, not a grant. Its not free money. The feedback is that banks will require such loans (stimulus loans) to be paid off in 30 months, so even if you qualify, this may be a massive burden moving forward. Call us for some cashflow modelling to see if it is worth it for your business. 6331 8811
