Last week was the busiest week for auctions the capital city markets have seen since early April, with a total of 2,535 homes taken to market. Historically we would see auction activity start to taper off dramatically after the second week of December as market activity slows in the lead up to Christmas, however this week we had a total of 2,331 homes scheduled for auction. 05.01.2022 SCANDAL ROCKS THE BLOCK! One of the biggest scandals to ever hit Australian reality TV has been unearthed after Channel 9 claimed the winning buyer of The Block 2020 hadn’t paid up. The woman who placed the winning bid on Brisbane couple Jimmy and Tam’s property at The Block Brighton auctions in November has failed to come through with the money, A Current Affair claimed on Tuesday. What a stinker! It'll be interesting to see how this pans out and how much channel 9 will get for the house without all the fanfare and hoohaa of the over the top theatrical auction!

05.01.2022 Happy Hogmanay 2020! Fun Fact! Hogmanay is the Scottish word for the last day of the year. There are many customs associated with this day but the most practiced today is First-Footing. This starts immediately after midnight and involves being the first person to cross the threshold of a friend or neighbour and often involves the giving of symbolic gifts such as salt, coal, shortbread, whisky, and black bun, intended to bring different kinds of luck to the householder. This may go on throughout the early hours of the morning and well into the next day (usually a good excuse to keep that whisky flowing!). The first-foot is supposed to set the luck for the rest of the year. Traditionally, tall, dark-haired men are preferred as the first-foot.
