07.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reminding us of the signs of breast cancer and its effect on women across Australia. Although the survival rate continues to improve, with 89/100 Australian women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer surviving 5 or more years beyond diagnosis, it still remains the most common form of Cancer in Australian Women. Take the time this month to be breast aware and know the signs:... - new lumps or lumpiness, especially if it's only in one breast - a change in the size or shape of your breast - change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness or inversion - a nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing - a change in the skin of your breast such as redness or dimpling - an unusual pain that doesn't go away. Most of these changes aren’t due to breast cancer, but it’s important to see your doctor without delay if you notice any of the above.
