Although the survival rate continues to improve, with 89/100 Australian women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer surviving 5 or more years beyond diagnosis, it still remains the most common form of Cancer in Australian Women. Take the time this month to be breast aware and know the signs:... - new lumps or lumpiness, especially if it's only in one breast - a change in the size or shape of your breast - change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness or inversion - a nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing - a change in the skin of your breast such as redness or dimpling - an unusual pain that doesn't go away. The sun produces ultraviolet rays (UV), which cause sunburn and are the main cause of skin cancer in Australia. UV rays can also cause premature ageing and eye damage due to overexposure without protection. During the summer make sure to check the UV Ratings each day to know when to apply sunsceen, and what level of SPF protection to use.
