23.01.2022 The Movement Disorders Team at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is researching Patient Satisfaction and Service Provision in Parkinson’s Disease. They are interest...ed in understanding the care you currently receive and your level of satisfaction with this care. It is hoped that the study will help better understand what people living with Parkinson’s expect from their care team and improve the care provided. The research team are asking for your assistance by completing an online anonymous questionnaire, alternatively, this can be completed by a carer. To complete the survey go to https://goo.gl/KoFqic.

07.01.2022 COULD STIMULATING THE GUT BY TOUCH HELP TO RELEASE SEROTONIN? https://advancingthescience.mayo.edu//gut-touch-mayo-clin/ Interestingly, many people with Parki...nson's are finding smovey ring massage on the gut very beneficial, not least for constipation (huge issue for those of us dorsal vagus activated) but also more generally... I often get my mum to rock the smovey's on my tummy when really frozen up and it seems to help with the release... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXTO_iH3RlQ - the upgraded blue smovey (smoveyMED redesigned especially for neuro issues) is even more effective I'm finding. Also, while off, especially whilst waiting for my first pill to kick in in the morning, i have been doing a lot of these self-holding patterns while lying on my bed https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2014548065495490&set=pb.100008209475692.-2207520000.1536747474.&type=3&theater in combination with gently squeezing or pulsing my fingers or/and visualization techniques of imagining a ball light of going up and down between my hand on head and my hand on belly... This article suggests, indirectly, such a possibility: "Researchers at Mayo Clinic have discovered an important mechanical trigger in the gut for releasing serotonin in the body. Serotonin is an important hormone and neurotransmitter in the human body, believed to help regulate digestion, appetite, mood, social behavior, sleep and other important functions. " "Dr. Beyder and his colleagues discovered that a mechanosensor, called Piezo2, was specific to enterochromaffin cells. A mechanosensor is a molecule that responds to changes in mechanical force and leads to a physiologic response. We found that a mechanosensitive ion channel called Piezo2 is in an important mechanosensor necessary for mechanical release of serotonin from the enterochromaffin cell, says Dr. Beyder."
