25.01.2022 We want more women playing the great game of golf. Why golf? It's been labelled as a game that is a metaphor for life. Those who play it can testify that it can take you to great heights, but also leave you in the depths of despair. And just sometimes you feel that you can fly like an eagle. That sometimes feeling is enough. So get into golf.
25.01.2022 It's great to be back at competitive golf, but it is clear that those participating in Saturday's event left something in the shed; their form.
25.01.2022 Thanks to all the teams who supported our Annual 4-Person Ambrose. Congratulations to all the winners.
24.01.2022 It is often remarked that Parklands is a seasonal course. Long-time supporter of the Parklands club and poet wannabe, Sandy Green, has submitted the following haiku. Haiku? Look it up. It seemed to suit a photo taken at the course this very day. The green carpet grows Beneath Parklands' canopy Harbinger of Spring... by S.Green
23.01.2022 After another inglorious start Stewart Turner came up trumps.
22.01.2022 In pleasant conditions 14 Ladies played a stableford event over the old nine holes today to complete our 2020 season, lunch followed at Little Koi where 21 attended and enjoyed a long overdue get together. In another tight tussle on the leader board three Ladies contested the countback, all with 19 points. Winner : Lorraine Ardley Runner up : Gaye Goggin Third: Mary McCallum... An enormous thank you to our Captain Heather Hay and Vice Captain Gaye Goggin for guiding us through this tumultuous year, also to our Handicapper Marie Cook who tried to keep us all happy. Remember Ladies there are still golf comps on Wednesdays, Friday's and Saturdays to play in. See more
21.01.2022 TALKING PICTURES No 24 Golf is a game of infinite possibilities and there is always room for a contest within the contest. One should be ever mindful of the fact that sometimes the fiercest battles are those between the ones we love the most!
20.01.2022 So as from tomorrow here is the deal. No competition golf! You can however still play casual golf. Groups will be limited to two people unless they all reside in the same household. For the avoidance of doubt, groups of three or four will only be allowed if all members of the group reside in the same household. Members MUST SIGN IN on the appropriate sheet at the office window. Visitors (ie. green fee players) MUST include a contact number in the receipt book.
19.01.2022 For the second Saturday in a row Allan Flavell has taken the cake.
19.01.2022 Today's event was over the first nine holes plus an extra four on the back nine; in bush-ranging territory apparently. Also great to see one of Parklands' favourite sons back on the course.
19.01.2022 Like all regional clubs we are awaiting specific advice as to what our game will look like as from Thursday. In the meantime Wednesday's Stableford can proceed as it has been played in recent weeks. The key difference tomorrow will be that everyone will be wearing a mask.
18.01.2022 When two students of the game combine it is difficult to better them. Oldaker and Kosch played a strategic brand of golf to win through in today's Two-Person Ambrose with a nett score of 68, narrowly edging out Miller and Nattrass on 68.75. Novelty winner were as follows: NTPs... 17.01.2022 Last Friday's Summertime Golf Nine-Hole Stableford was won by Lorraine Ardley. Please note weight moving forward onto the front foot. Impressive Lozza!
15.01.2022 Looks like being a great day for it!
15.01.2022 TALKING PICTURES No 23 It is well known that many of the smaller golf clubs populating rural areas rely totally on a volunteer workforce for their survival. These volunteers not only possess a commitment to their club they also bring with them skills honed over many years of their working lives. Parklands is so lucky to have more than their share of them.
15.01.2022 Sunday 2nd August could be your day! Won't know if you don't front up.
14.01.2022 We have advice from Golf Australia as follows: Golf Australia can confirm that carts now allowed to be used by two people who do not reside together, providing thorough cleaning is undertaken between uses.
14.01.2022 WINE OF THE WEEK This week's item comes from the Parklands Volunteers Vineyard on North Boundary Road. The vines on this property are approaching 50 years old and are tended by workers somewhat older than that. As the years roll by the vineyard is producing grapes of increased flavour and complexity; a bit like the workers who tend them! This week's offering is an unexpectedly sprightly Grenache. Tasting Notes: Medium-bodied but deceptively intense, this Grenache is a varietal packed with aromas of high-octane affected plantain, lovingly nurtured Santa Ana couch, red plum rye grass and a hint of wild hemp. The success of this crowd-pleasing wine is in the carefully manicured Parklands vines that are never cut closer that 3 from the fruiting bud.
14.01.2022 With a return to Monday Golf 18 Ladies fronted up to play a Stroke, count your putts competition for a $20 Little Koi voucher. 10.01.2022 TALKING PICTURES No 26 It is important that an organisation is led by people of principle. It is comforting to know that our esteemed president is such a person.
09.01.2022 On a cool day Ladies played a 3 Person Irish Stableford yesterday. In a 3 way countback the winners were Mary McCallum, Heather Hay and Jenny Row with 70 stableford points from runners up Irene Box, Lorraine Ardley and Kath Hartwich. NTP: 5th and 13th Marie Cook 8th Toby Salter 15th Irene Box... LP: 1st Jodi McGregor 17th Kath Hartwich 18th Irene Box See more
09.01.2022 Lorraine Ardley blitzed the field in our last competitive round until at least September 13th. Well done Lozza! I guess you stay at Number 1 for a minimum of the next 6 weeks!
09.01.2022 Sadly we can no longer report on the weekly competitions that take place at Parklands, simply because there are no competitions. However, in an effort to provide our members with some meaningful alternatives to our weekly fare we have decided to provide some critical information about what wine to serve with your evening meal. As always Parklands advises moderation in all things other that driving off the first tee, where the tactic should be "have a crack" because a sensat...ional drive down the middle of the first could set you up for an exceptional round. Eating and drinking however is a different matter and the sage advice of "moderation in all things" definitely applies here. So what you eat and drink must be of good quality because you can't have too much of it. To assist you in this important endeavour we provide you with our recommended "Wine Of The Week" with attached tasting notes. This week's offering is a nice little number that has met with recent success. KOSCHIES CHAMPIONS CHABLIS Tasting Notes: On the palate, the aromas retain their freshness of freshly mown fairways for an extended period. Perky and full of consistency, the attack is direct and intense. Long and likeable persistence leads to a smooth and serene finish. Very dry and impeccably delicate around the scrapes, Koschies Champions Chablis has a unique and readily-recognisable personality commensurate with the Parklands experience.
08.01.2022 We here at Parklands readily admit to our heavy reliance on our volunteering members to maintain and improve our course. Sometimes however, the required task is far beyond our meagre resources. That's when we bring in the big guns. We are so fortunate to have in our community businesses who step in to lend us a hand. Thanks Butch and Suzy from Walkers Earthworks. We just wanted to let you know that you rock!
07.01.2022 The beauty you can find at Parklands Golf Club

06.01.2022 Results from today's 13-hole stableford.
06.01.2022 OK, so this is no surprise. These blokes have been keeping their hand in over the hiatus in competitive golf. Good on 'em! Yeah, Bill did have his mask on; this is a stock photo from some time back.
06.01.2022 I hate to be a kicker, I always long for peace, But the wheel that squeaks the loudest, Is the one that gets the grease.
06.01.2022 An apology for short changing the three Ladies today, they all had 20 points, it must be the end of our year
05.01.2022 13 Ladies played a four club stableford event today in cool conditions. Winner : Karen Sharrock with 30 points Runner up : Irene Box 29 points NTP : 2nd Irene Box, 5th and 13th Gaye Goggin, 8th Marie Cook, 15th Karen Sharrock LP : 1st Gaye Goggin, 18th Jenny Row... 05.01.2022 Time is running out!
05.01.2022 WINE OF THE WEEK Well,OK it's wines of the week. Here we present the last three in our Parklands Champions Selection 2020. Tasting Notes: HAYS HOCK A medium-sweet, full flavoured, lively white wine, distinctive and fruity with an after taste of bling. Hints of cut hay and Mill Road woodsmoke. An ideal wine for every day drinking, but not on course. Serve well chilled.... SHARROCKS SHERRY Made from air-dried grapes, with fermentation stopped early because Richard had to go round the sheep, this delightful sherry is a remarkable wine. Creamily viscous and amazingly sweet when consumed away from the heat of battle. ROWS PINOT NOIR An ethereal delight that hints at its origins of the buckshot soil it came from. This Parklands fine red is all about delicacy, length, harmony and finesse. Best enjoyed at a distance from the tee, possibly at Dunkeld's Royal Mail Hotel!
05.01.2022 Just to be perfectly clear: Daily sand green fees at Parklands Golf Club are set at a fixed rate. You play nine holes, it's $10; you play 18 holes, it's still $10; you play 27 holes, it's still $10; you only play three holes, it's still $10! Should you be 16 years old or under it's $5 not $10. We reckon that's excellent value. IMPORTANT: You must record a minimum of your first name and a contact number in the receipt book. This is a requirement under current COVID-19 contact tracing arrangements.
03.01.2022 He's done it again! Allan Flavell wins the Monthly Medal for two consecutive months. It is time for desperate measures. All Parklanders need to prepare for September 5.
03.01.2022 The latest edition of the Parklands Golf Club newsletter is now available at https://parklandsgolfclub.com.au
02.01.2022 WINE OF THE WEEK This week's wine is part of the Parklands Champions collection and is an impressive Chardonnay from one of our established local wineries. Tasting Notes: This is one of the best wines in the Parkland’s stable, a stylish, finely crafted offering from our Gray Street vineyard. It combines freshness and maturity in equal measure, with haunting lime-juice and citrus peel flavours and a dry, but understated aftertaste. Recent performance indicates that it gets better with age, too. Recommend cellaring.
02.01.2022 TALKING PICTURES No 25 It's great that we can still play a round of golf with a partner even under current restrictions. There are however serious impediments to the enjoyment of the game caused by the mandatory wearing of masks. I'm sure we've all experienced that situation where what we said is not what was heard!
