25.01.2022 Cultural Plan Questions 6 WHAT ACTIVITIES AND HOBBIES DO YOU ENJOY?
24.01.2022 We have a question for you! We are working on a Cultural Plan for Narrandera Shire. A Cultural Plan isn’t just about arts and music, it's about everyt...hing that makes the Shire what it is, what makes us unique. It will include Aboriginal culture, the sport we play, our natural environment, our history, our buildings and our people as well as what are considered the arts. We are going to ask you a daily question to understand what you think is important about Narrandera Shire, what you love, what you treasure, what should grow and change and what should be preserved forever. The 1st question is: 1 WHAT MAKES NARRANDERA SHIRE UNIQUE?
22.01.2022 Found another treasure at the Museum yesterday, but this one is well and truly alive. Betty Bradney one of our new volunteers just wants to work in the garden. Knowing Betty we are hardly surprised. It really does need a lot of work Thank you Betty it looks so much better already.

17.01.2022 The community held many fundraisers during WW1 to raise money to purchase this plane at 2700 pounds. There were actually four aircraft that were presented by the patriotic folk of Narrandera, Jerilderie, Grong Grong, Darlington Point, Colinroobie, Leeton and Gainmain. This beautifully framed picture is in the Museums Military Room. Call in and have a look. We open three days a week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm
17.01.2022 Council is seeking interested persons to provide input into the development of the Narrandera Shire Cultural Plan. The Plan will recognise the value of arts, c...ulture and heritage to our community. It will outline a range of future goals and actions to build on existing strengths and assets, address gaps and take advantage of emerging opportunities. Council will host two socially distanced face-to-face consultations and two Zoom meetings during August 2020. For more information contact Susan Killham, Manager Community Development, or register here: http://ow.ly/eSPZ50APLAk Entries close Friday 4pm 7 August.
17.01.2022 Thank you to all participants in the Museum's Creative Writing Workshop on Saturday. It was a very cold morning but they soon warmed up in our Meeting Room. We look forward to publishing some very interesting interpretations of their chosen objects. Pictured from the left: Betty Bradney, Kate Rotherham (Facilitator), Michelle (Elle) Carlin, Tracey Lewis, Sue Killham, Patricia (Trish) Mills and Lindee Russell.

11.01.2022 Narrandera Shire Council is in the process of preparing a Cultural Plan and we would like you to Have Your Say about what you like, what you think and what you ...want to see in the Plan. Stage One of the Cultural Plan is a survey. It will be available online, through the link below and in hard copy at the Council Chambers, Library and Visitor Information Centre. Please take the time to complete the Survey so that the plan reflects what Narrandera wants and needs. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CNVT8TH
11.01.2022 Prime 7 News Wagga contacted the Museum last Thursday wanting to follow up on a feature by our local newspaper, the Narrandera Argus. As the Museum is now a 355 Committee under the Narrandera Shire Council it is reliant on volunteers to keep the doors open. Barbara Bryon has worked tirelessly to bring together an amazing group of Narrandera residents to become volunteers. We open 3 days a week which is great, but, we need to open 7 days a week. Currently we have volunteers to man the doors 3 days a week for a four week month. When we get to a five week month it's a mad scramble to cover the hours. We will be successful and we sincerely thank Prime 7 Wagga for putting our amazing Museum out there front and centre BUT we most importantly want it known WE ARE NOT CLOSING.
09.01.2022 The Museum held its first Creative Writing Workshop last Saturday with Kate Rotherham as the facilitator. Kate has a warm engaging manner and attendees from Narrandera, Leeton and Griffith were eager to join in the discussion/exercises. Join us for the second workshop on Saturday 22 June starting at 9am at the Museum. Contact Kathy 0418269878 or Barbara 0400346043
07.01.2022 Saturday 22 June 9am start. The Museum held Part 1 of its CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP in May. It was a great success and Part 2 will be held this Saturday June 22 between 9am and 12 noon. If you were not able to attend Part 1 do not be deterred. During Part 2 there will be a certain amount of revisiting the Part 1 topics. The Museum will open at 8am to enable participants to select an object to base their article on. We need to commence the Workshop promptly at 9am. The Muse...um invites aspiring writers, journalists, bloggers and social commentators of Narrandera and surrounds to attend with writer Kate Rotherham. No experience is necessary - just bring along your enthusiasm, some paper and a pen! Course, with Kate is at no charge payment will be accepted in the form of historic Narrandera tales (more true than tall please!) and object stories which we will work with you to have published in the local media. Kate as your mentor will also provide some availability to ongoing advice via email and phone contact. Workshop participants will need to visit the Museum prior to the workshop to gain inspiration on appropriate themes/ stories for inclusion. Venue: Parkside Cottage Museum, Narrandera Places are limited, so please secure your spot! RSVP Kathy 0418 269 878; Barbara 0400 346 043 This project is supported by Create NSW’s Country Arts Support Program, a devolved funding program administered by Regional Arts NSW and Western Riverina Arts on behalf of the NSW Government.
