21.01.2022 Effective Communication I appreciate this platform has not been used as well as I may, or should be using it. Please note I am reviewing, and in some cases trialling, how we can best communicate with our stakeholders. In short it has to work for both the author(s) and the audience. Below is some information around another communication 'tool' for your consideration. Over 220 people have read the information we have put out there around the use of Connect (via Connect) as o...ne of our communication platforms. Some have also provided us with constructive feedback and or suggestions on what they see as useful and effective information. Those parents have been contacted today to acknowledge their contribution(s) to this process. One thing is clear less can sometimes mean more - that is by the end of Term 2 this year you will be informed of the school preferred communication tool(s). This will of course map out what will stay and what will go. I anticipate there will be some mixed emotions around such a decision because people have their own preferences in this space. I look forward to sharing the outcome with our school community at a later date.

20.01.2022 Australian Girls Choir The Australian Girls Choir will be visiting our school Thursday 23 August at 11.15am for a group assessment workshop which will include singing and movement activities. A flyer will be sent home today, please return the form to the front office tomorrow morning if you wish your daughter to attend this workshop. ... Apologies for the short notice.

20.01.2022 Winter Carnival (Acknowledging a fine effort) On Tuesday 26 June senior students represented Parkwood Primary School at the annual Winter Lightning Carnival in AFL football, soccer, hockey and netball. All of our teams experienced success in one form or another. Whether it was wins on the board or improved skill and gameplay it was pleasing to see all of the hard work, training and dedication pay off. Our Hockey team came back victorious taking out the shield and finishing un...defeated. Our soccer team finished runner up and our netball and AFL teams all finished higher than last year. Overall a very successful day out for the school. Parkwood Primary School would like to thank all of the students for their participation and send a very special thankyou to the parent helpers and staff members that gave up their time to assist with coaching our teams and cheering our students on. 20.01.2022 Wakakirri 2018 On behalf of our school community I would like to wish all of the students and staff involved in Wakakirri all the very best for today's rehearsal and tonight's performance. If the effort and commitment shown so far is anything to go on then the audience is in for a treat tonight.

20.01.2022 Wakakirri! Congratulations to the kids on an awe inspiring performance last night. So good were they that they put up with three music 'issues' and still held their collective nerve to win the Wakakirri Western Australian Primary story award. We are so proud of the team.

19.01.2022 Class Lists 2019 (Mainstream classes) As outlined in a previous communication class lists will be on display (on the display board outside the office) from 11.00am Thursday 31 January 2019. Please note if you are not happy with your child's placement you will be asked to follow a process to have decision reviewed (information on this process will be made available to parents on Thursday via a small handout). Classes will remain as they are until the end of Week 4 Term 1.

17.01.2022 Glory Cup Soccer Congratulations to those students who represented our school last Friday. Feedback from parents from our school as well as from other schools suggest our kids exhibited outstanding sportsmanship throughout. Teamwork and a have-a-go atttitude were also themes shared with me as a very proud Principal. Thank you as well to everyone involved.

13.01.2022 Book Week Parade This Thursday 23 August is our Book Week Parade. This year's theme is Treasure Hunt. The Parade will start at 9.15am and parents are invited to come along and see the fantastic costumes on display.

13.01.2022 Year 6 Graduation Just a reminder The Year 6 Graduation will be held at 6pm Tuesday 11 December 2018. Students are invited to take their guests to the classroom to view their Graduation Folder at 5.30pm. Students are to be in school uniform for this event.

08.01.2022 Wakakirri Celebration I was lucky enough to witness our Wakakirri Performance Group light up the Regal Theatre on Tuesday night. The students skilfully executed a multi-layered dance that captured the audiences attention and forced everyone to consider how much technology is controlling them at the moment. Colourful costumes and props, complex moves and impressive synchronisation stood out as our kids did themselves and our school proud. They did so well that they have won ...the Best Popular Culture Story award. Congrats also to the staff and support crew that made this such a rich experience for our kids. 08.01.2022 Faction Athletics Day(s), Social Media and Sharing Photos Proud Mums and Dads (and extended family members) our Faction Athletics Carnival is on this week. This provides a great opportunity for parents and loved ones to take and share photos. If you plan on doing this could you please do your bit to show courtesy and respect to others by: Just taking photos of your own child(ren) Taking a moment when framing your photo not to include other groups of kids (that may be able... to be identified) in the background Using private messaging applications to share with friends if they ask you to take photos for them this lets them make a decision on what goes public. 04.01.2022 School Board Parent Rep Position Information has been sent home today regarding the parent rep vacancy. Nominations have been called for by 3pm Friday 17 August, 2018. If there is more than one nominee, a voting process will be undertaken next week. It is hoped this will then allow the successful nominee to complete screening, prior to appointment and the Week 8 meeting.
