25.01.2022 We are excited to announce that tomorrow, the Legislative Assembly will debate its first ePetition! Presented by Alex Greenwich, Member for Sydney, and organised by Save Our Stages NSW, the petition calls for immediate funding to save NSW's live music industry. Also tabled for debate is a paper petition presented by Michael Daley, Member for Maroubra. It calls for the Government to abandon its plans for bus service cuts.... 25.01.2022 The Leader of the Opposition, Jodi McKay MP is delivering the Budget in-reply speech. This is an oppportuninty for the Opposition to respond to the Government's Budget. After the debate concludes and the Bills have been passed by the Lower House they are forwarded to the NSW Legislative Council for consideration. ... To become law the Budget must also be passed by the Legislative Council and then be forwarded to the Governor of New South Wales for assent. 15.01.2022 Today a minutes silence was observed in the Parliament. This Roll of Honour is a prized part of our collection and lists the names of the 25 Parliament members and staff who served in World War I. It was unveiled in 1918 (pictured) and this program from the event remains in our archives. ... The Honour Roll is still on display in the Legislative Assembly foyer and recently underwent conservation to ensure it is preserved for generations to come.

15.01.2022 For whom the petition tolls; It tolls for the Legislative Assembly! Today, the Chamber will debate the 10,000 signature paper petition presented by Anoulack Chanthivong, Member for Macquarie Fields. 11.01.2022 Then to now ways of petitioning the Parliament have certainly changed over the years! The book pictured includes 64,029 signatures, presented to the Parliament in 1888. The petitioners sought the extension of the state’s railway line down to Circular Quay to enable exports like wool to reach ships and the international market sooner. Whilst paper petitions remain, ePetitions have recently been introduced allowing citizens to participate digitally!

08.01.2022 Parliament House is coming to a classroom near you! Parliament now has a brand new facility to run our virtual education program 'Visit Us At Our House' - and a brand new home on Zoom. This program is catered directly to the NSW syllabus for primary school students and is interactive, including parliamentary characters in costume, sound effects (like the bells from both chambers) and student activities.... Since the re-launch, this term alone we have already virtually visited 3070 students! Bookings now available for term 1 2021 at [email protected]
