25.01.2022 It seems that on the 14th October the Federal Government announced, as part of its Economic Recovery Plan, a grant of $500,000 "for the Stage 1 upgrade of Granville Swimming Centre". The club is awaiting information from Cumberland Council on what will be done as part of this upgrade and when the work is likely to commence.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to 8 swimmers from the Club and 2nd Wind Squad who competed in the 2020-21 NSW Junior Metropolitan Champions at SOPAC on the weekend. Good to see lots of PBs and a number of top ten places. Special mention must go to Hannah Oh who won the 11 yrs Girls 200 Breast and was second in the 50m & 100m Breast.

22.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to new restrictions on Community Sport imposed by the NSW Government, this Sunday's Youth Group Picnic has been cancelled.



22.01.2022 Speedo heats will be held at SOPAC on Sunday 7 Feb. This carnival is a must for younger swimmers as it is all 50m events and is great preparation for school swimming carnival season. More information on the carnival will be forwarded to members once it becomes available.

21.01.2022 The "Swimmer of the Year, is determined by combining the points from the summer and winter graded races. Congratulations to Liam for winning this award for the 2nd time. His great grandmother, after who the trophy is named, would be very pleased.

21.01.2022 The club will be running the BBQ at Bunnings Rydalmere on 13th Dec. Due the new requirements imposed by Bunnings due to COVID, more helpers will be required than previously. Please keep this date free!

19.01.2022 Despite the weather, some 25 hardy swimmers attended our first day of club races after our unexpected break due to COVID-19. Thanks to all those that attended for being considerate of others by following our safety precautions. See everyone next week!

18.01.2022 Results for the 2020 Winter Season. Considering all issues associated with COVID, it was very pleasing to see how many swimmers competed during winter and how well everyone swam.

17.01.2022 The Granville Centre, which containing amount other things the new Granville Library and the new pool entry, will be opening early September. One big bonus will be the much improved parking.

15.01.2022 Speedo heats will be held on 7th Feb at SOPAC (Homebush). It is a carnival well suited for all club members 13yrs & under. Entries are online via the Swim Central (the registration system). The carnival will appear in the "Events Closing Soon" once you have logged on.

15.01.2022 Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the club will continue for another month with the current arrangement. This includes, club races 8.30am-9.30am Saturday, and club training 5pm-6.15pm Thursday & Friday, and 9.30-10.30am Saturday. 13.01.2022 Jack Lawson was the swimming coach at Granville Pool for most of the 1970's, He was a wonderful coach and well-liked by his swimmers. Jack's daughter, Naomi Klahn @naomi.klahn is looking for stories about Jack and his squad. If you were a member of Jack’s squad, please send any anecdotes you may have about him to Naomi.

10.01.2022 The updated points score is now available. With 7 more weeks of the graded races remaining there is plenty of time for changes.

10.01.2022 NSW Government has imposed a limit of one spectator per child for Community Sport as of Wednesday 19th (see attached). Can all members please ensure that only one parent/relative attends club race/training as a spectator per family. Both parents can attend where one/both parents are officiating (eg time keeping)

10.01.2022 The club will be holding its traditional Xmas Raffle and Xmas Breakup party again this year. Information on these events and on other club activities over the Xmas /New year period can be found in the attached handout

09.01.2022 Just a reminder to all members that there is a online club meeting this Tuesday @ 7.30pm. If you have not received the meeting details please let us know so they can be forwarded to you.

09.01.2022 Cumberland Council is considering outsourcing the management of Granville and its other pools. Any outsourcing arrangement has the risk of changing our current arrangements, especially our ability to conduct free learn to swim and club training. Please help us highlight our concerns to Council by signing this petition.

08.01.2022 Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the club will continue the current program of activities for the remainder of the winter season. This includes, club races 8.30am-9.30am Saturday, and club training 5pm-6.15pm Thursday & Friday, and 9.30-10.30am Saturday. Club races will remain enter on the day. The program for club race’s for the remainder of the season is: 5 Sept 100m Free, 50m Back, 50m Fly/Breast* 12 Sept 100m Breast, 50m Free, 50m Back... 19 Sept 100m Back, 50m Breast, 50m Fly/Free* The club will then have a two week break, with club activities recommencing for the Summer Season on Saturday 10th October. A decision on what to do with the results of the 2019-2020 Summer and 2020 Winter season, along with the format for the 2020-21 Summer season will be decided at a club meeting to be held next week. Invitation to this meeting will be issued in the next few days.

07.01.2022 Want to improve your backstroke? All you really need to do is copy what you do with your arms and torso when you swim freestyle.

07.01.2022 Due to the smaller numbers at Saturday club training during winter, our coaches can a bit more "inventive" in the training program. The swimmers seem to enjoy it much more than following a black line.

05.01.2022 Great weather for the club's second week back from lockdown. Again it was great to see everyone following the club's COVID precautions!

02.01.2022 The new Granville Centre is now open! To get to the pool, either enter via the sliding doors at the front of the building near the new library or the sliding doors near the car park at rear of the building.
