19.01.2022 Welcome to Spring in Australia everyone...isnt it wonderful. Today I have attached two articles about the yet to be released in Australia, Google Pixel 4A phone. There are 2 articles: One from the SMH which reviews the phone and provides details of Australian Retail Prices. The second is an article from the NY times, which refers to US retails , however it is a good article as it makes comparisons between the iphone and the google phone. Happy reading. https://www.smh.com.au//google-s-pixel-4a-is-all-the-smart https://www.nytimes.com//perso/google-pixel-4a-review.html
19.01.2022 Yesterday (13 March) the Management Committee of Parramatta Computer Pals for Seniors decided to cancel all courses, and meetings and close the club from last night as the COVID 19 virus evolves. (School) Term 1 and Term 2 will be cancelled, and a review of whether we open again in Term 3 will take place as events occur. Please stay safe, keep away from crowds, wash your hands and we will communicate with members electronically.... Please keep us informed of your status as you are able. An official email will be sent to all members today, if you know any members who are not communicating via email, please advise them of this situation. This is our contribution to "flattening the curve", keeping more of us healthy and reducing the load on our valuable health care workers.

18.01.2022 Some of our members might be interested in this initiative called Senior Angels. I think they mean the Angels being the younger shoppers. Not many angels at ParraPals haha. Just nice kind people.

16.01.2022 Happy Wednesday everyone, hope you are keeping safe and well.. Lets discuss You Tube today. What is You Tube? ... YouTube is a free video sharing website that makes it easy to watch online videos. You can even create and upload your own videos to share with others. Originally created in 2005, YouTube is now one of the most popular sites on the Web, with visitors watching around 6 billion hours of video every month. One reason YouTube is so popular is the sheer number of videos you can find. On average, 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, so theres always something new to watch! And youll find all kinds of videos on YouTubeadorable cats, quirky cooking demos, concerts, exercises classes and lots of how-to videos including how to fix a leaky tap, how to re-grout showers tiles and a whole lot more. Another reason YouTube is so popular: Its all about user-generated content. Instead of videos from major TV networks and movie studios, youll find amazing and creative videos made by people just like you. If this interests you and you are curious to learn how to use You tube, Parramatta Computer Pals has a self-taught on-line course which you may be interested in. Personally, I love music, here is a concert that I have watched and fills me with joy , hope you enjoy it too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huTUOek4LgU&t=329s
16.01.2022 I have just discovered podcasts and found some interesting interviews by a gentleman called Joe Rogan. Please be aware that his language is rather colloquial, however if you can get past that, the people he interviews and topics they discuss can be quite interesting. To find him, go to Spotify and search for the Joe Rogan Experience, using the search box. It will list all the interviews which you can listen to. If you tap each one, it will give you a summary of the discus...sion topic. You can also watch these on u tube. He interviews former navy seals, ex-CIA agents, celebrities such as Kanye West, Mike Tyson, Miley Cyrus, nutritionists and has interesting discussions on artificial intelligence and the human body. There are several interesting ones with Elon Musk, (search for Joe Rogan-Elon Musk) in the search engine. Look for the latest one by interview date. The one I am going to listen to next is 1564 Adam Alter, a Professor in Marketing from New York University, on the rise of addictive technology and the business of keeping us hooked ! Enjoy. my husband listens to them whilst gardening, I like to lie down and listen to them ! Until next time. Here is a link to the u tube video with the interview of Adam Alter to get you started. If clicking on the link doesn't work, copy and paste the link into a new tab on you internet search engine and it should work. To listen to podcast, go to Spotify. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J68gMp9nVE0&t=7s

06.01.2022 YES, true for us seniors. Parramatta Computer Pals trainers and assistant trainers are practising using Zoom which has great potential for training whilst remaining safe. We might be physically closed, but remain energetic. In fact, in our private group (same name) for financial members of the club, we are sharing lots of skills based videos and weblinks.
