13.01.2022 This has been an annual celebration in our centre as we value and respect our culturally diverse families and to bring awareness to our children about respecting diversity. A lot of activities were provided to children such as art and craft, parent involvement, story about Chinese zodiac signs, introducing Chinese characters that means luck and how to decorate homes during this event to which the children participated and displayed curiosity and interest. Cooking experience making bun, has been the most favourite activity among the children where they learnt a lot of things such as basic measurement, scientific concepts, healthy food choices and life skills.
12.01.2022 Our entire curriculum focuses on teaching children, parents and staff about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the importance of reconciliation. We acknowledge the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of the nation and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
11.01.2022 International Day of Yoga - 21st June 2020 Our children love doing Yoga. It is implemented into our program once a week. Children derive enormous benefits from Yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves.
11.01.2022 As an extension of our discussion about COVID-19, Miss Tess explained to children what the virus looks like and how the virus is not visible to the naked eye. During the discussion, children shared their own understanding about Covid-19 prevention such as hand washing, coughing and sneezing in their elbows, social distancing, saying ‘hello’ using their elbows and feet instead of shaking hands and staying at home when sick. We then re-enacted a scenario where all children understood why their parents work from home. Educators set up a tent to simulate a home working environment between children and parents. The children had lots of fun taking turns exploring our dramatic play!
05.01.2022 Our centre participated in supporting our community through the involvement of our wonderful families and staff. A huge thank you to our families for being part of this appeal. Thank you also to Mrs Andrea Moschetti who volunteered to drop off donations for bushfire victims through the Food Bank Australia.
01.01.2022 Freshly picked lemons from our lemon tree! At Parramatta Preschool and Long Day Care, we know that gardening helps children recognize the senses and helps build physical strength and coordination. Gardening from a young age teaches children about the beauty of Mother Nature and how we can all appreciate and protect our precious environment.
