Nine cases were reported in overseas travellers in hotel quarantine, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 4,306 since the start of the pandemic. There were 17,226 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with 17,184 in the previous 24 hours. NSW Health thanks the community for its support, as every person who comes forward for testing is p...laying an important role in helping to contain the spread of COVID-19. With the weather becoming warmer and people starting to attend more social gatherings, NSW Health is calling on the community to maintain the COVID safe behaviours that have been key to stopping the spread of the virus. Though there have been no locally acquired cases in NSW in recent days, now is not the time to drop our guard. Everyone needs to continue to be alert to the ongoing risk of transmission of COVID-19, to keep practising physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and most importantly to get tested and isolate if they feel unwell. NSW Health is treating 72 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. Most cases 93 per cent are being treated by NSW Health in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. NSW Health is again calling on people in south western Sydney and north west Sydney to get tested if they have even the mildest symptoms after the state’s sewage surveillance program detected further traces of the virus in these areas. As reported in ParraNewsToday earlier this week, Emergency services were called to a unit on Lane Street about 2.40am on Wednesday (14 October 2020), following reports a woman had been injured.... 21.01.2022 NSW HEALTH DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE Moss Vale Testing Required. NSW recorded no new cases of locally acquired COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. ... Six cases were reported in overseas travellers in hotel quarantine. This brings the total number of cases in NSW to 4,359 since the start of the pandemic. There were 6,976 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with 7,836 in the previous 24 hours. NSW Health is treating 82 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. Most cases, 96 per cent, are being treated by NSW Health in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. While there have been no new locally acquired cases in NSW for the past 17 days, new infections have appeared in the past after a number of days without any cases because of transmission among people with mild or no symptoms. Testing rates have declined in the past week, which is a concern despite low case numbers. If even one case of COVID-19 goes undetected, the consequences can be devastating. If people don’t come forward for testing, outbreaks can easily be missed early on when they can be more readily controlled. Testing of Moss Vale sewage samples taken on 19 November identified fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19. This follows positive findings in samples taken earlier in the month. While the fragments may be from previously identified cases in the area, NSW Health reminds the community to come forward immediately for testing should they develop any symptoms of COVID-19, however mild. 18.01.2022 TRANSPORT MINISTER DISCOVERS TRACKLESS TRAMS - 4 YEARS TOO LATE! Apparently NSW Transport Minister, Andrew Constance, has announced that Stage Two of the Parramatta Light Rail will not be implemented using the dated technology currently being installed between Parramatta and Westmead. Mr Constance has stated a preference not to "rip up everything" for the tracks to Olympic Park - preferring to examine the viability of "trackless trams" and related technologies.... North Parramatta Residents Action Group - NPRAG Spokesperson Suzette Meade slammed Constance's comments. . Why the hell would he rip up Parramatta for the first route when there were alternatives, it’s just another state government project with poor planning decimating our cities heritage. Trackless trams have been used successfully overseas for some years - certainly well before the final decision regarding the Parramatta Light Rail was made. If the Parramatta commercial area wasn't slowly dying as a result of the decision to adopt the dated Light Rail technology, it would be laughable. Cue the famous Simpsons' episode on the Monorail. Unfortunately, its no laughing matter......... North Parramatta Residents Action Group - NPRAG Parramatta, New South Wales #parramatta

01.01.2022 PARRA COUNCIL GIVES $530,000 TO LOCAL BUSINESSES DURING COVID-19 More than 100 small businesses and community groups across the City of Parramatta have been awarded with over half a million dollars in grants as part of Council’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. Council has provided 36 local not-for-profit and social enterprises with Community Resilience Grants, totalling just over $380,000, to help them adapt and diversify during the COVID-19 pandemic.... An additional $150,000 was provided to set up the new Small Business COVID-19 Response Grant program, which has aided 85 businesses to pivot, expand, or digitize their operations amid public health restrictions. Both initiatives are part of the City of Parramatta’s $3 million COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Package. I am proud that Council has been able to offer much-needed support to our local community organisations and small businesses through these grants and help them during these tough times, City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said. These groups and businesses contribute so much to our City, and I hope the funding from these grants will help them continue to thrive. The City of Parramatta is dedicated to supporting all areas of our community through our various grant programs, and I encourage people to explore what funding opportunities may be available to them. Kapil Bajaj, from the Hindu Council of Australia, thanked Council for the $20,000 they received under the Community Resilience Grants program. This funding has allowed the organisation to continue delivering food hampers to Parramatta’s most vulnerable community members. The City of Parramatta Community Resilience Grant was a great help to the Hindu Council of Australia receiving it was a true blessing, Mr Bajaj said. The funding from this grant helped us to continue supporting those in need, and help them to get through the dire circumstances presented by COVID-19. Arthur Tong, owner of local business Tea Craft, said the Small Business COVID-19 Response Grant helped fund a new project that enabled them to overcome a downturn in sales caused by the pandemic. We lost nearly 90 per cent of our business at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic which posed a significant challenge, Mr Tong said. We used the funds from the Small Business COVID-19 Response Grant to adapt and expand our business’s offerings, which helped us to reach a new customer base. This grant provided us with the confidence boost that we needed to try out something new during a very uncertain time. We’re very grateful for the generosity and support that Council has shown to Tea Craft, as well as other small local businesses.
