14.01.2022 We kept cool and laughed ourselves silly yesterday at Aquatopia Water Park.... plus got a damn good workout - I was even asleep before the kids! http://www.parraparents.com.au//aquatopia-water-park-prai/ I had such fun racing two mum friends - purple is definitely the fastest slide out of the 3... I even got airborne when going down that one! And the kids loved running up and zooming down the slides. Being constantly wet and having fun meant we hardly noticed the s...corching heat. And the 5hrs flew by! It was busy/ sold out and even though we got there at 11am (when the slides open), there weren't any tables and chairs left in the main shaded area. So we made ourselves a nice picnic patch on the ground. There are though more deck chairs and umbrellas around the back of the tower that get forgotten about. We also strongly recommend you get there earlier then the open time as you can go in to find a spot and settle in. Think we'll look at booking a cabana next time as well. Aquatopia is such great, affordable fun for families. We had kids aged 6-15yrs and they all had so much fun, including us adults. It's booked out today but tickets are available for next weekend and during the school holidays, when it opens daily. 13.01.2022 WHAT'S ON THIS hot hot WEEKEND - lots of cool dinosaurs that's for sure, with the reopening of the Australian Museum and Scenic World presents Dinosaur Valley 2020 - 2021. Plus Santa arrives at a few more (air con) shopping centres, you can grab fresh produce and treats at Castle Hill Farmers & Fine Food Market and remember to cool down at one of the many free water playgrounds, fun swimming spots and nearby beaches.

08.01.2022 HOW STUPID! The upgrade of Epping Pool will remove the baby and kids pools but will not include a proposed new kids pool and splash pad! So families with young kids will be left with no way of cooling off and practising their swimming... PLEASE tell City of Parramatta that they must include the kids pool in the upgrade (or at least keep the current ones until funding is found to build the new one) by filling in their short survey - https://participate.cityofparramatta....nsw.gov.au/dencepark We've loved spending a lot of time over the last few summers at Epping Pool - first splashing in the baby pool and then playing in the kids pool. The depth of the current kids pool is just perfect for young kids learning to swim. (And we've made use of the kids pool after our summer learn to swim intensive classes.) To remove both, with no replacement, is just crazy! And surely will see the number of people visiting drop significantly... This long awaited and much needed $22.8m upgrade is good on a lot of levels - lift, indoor 25m pool, 8 lane 50m outdoor pool, ramp access to both new pools and improved change room facilities. But seriously, families who live in Epping and across City of Parramatta are being short changed! Not to mention all the other families from Ryde and Hornsby Council areas that want to take their kids to a nearby pool and have been using Epping Pool - revenue that City of Parramatta will lose out on... and leaving more families to suffer in this heat. We understand the kids pool and splash pad can be included for about $1m more... 02.01.2022 ALERT for Northmead - PLEASE AVOID the surrounding area if possible and enact your bushfire survival plan if you live in Northmead! An out of control bushfire is burning in Moxham Park at Northmead and the fire is moving towards homes on Whitehaven Road. There is also a cafe on fire in Epping (which is the footage at the beginning of the 7 News live video and they've incorrectly linked the two!) NSW Rural Fire Service are working in Northmead to protect homes and addition...al crews and aircraft are being sent to assist - you can see a helicopter getting water from Lake Parramatta to help put out the fire about 30mins into this footage!. If you are in the area of Whitehaven Road at Northmead, take action now. This fire is at WATCH AND ACT level. Take advice from firefighters who are working in the street.
