14.01.2022 Even in our darkest hour, when all hope seems lost, recovery is possible. Nathan Bolton was a Special Operations Engineer deploying twice to Afghanistan with Au...stralian Special Forces. He worked alongside some of the toughest and most elite soldiers in the world, supporting the Commandos and the SAS as they landed time and time again into hostile enemy territory. His job being to find the hidden bombs buried in the ground or IED's. After his second tour, the stress and the pressure of the job was a heavy burden on Nathan and he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depression; a battle that almost took his life. But the soldier in Nathan kept fighting and through years of hard work and a firm belief in a better life, Nathan made a profound recovery. Nathan now shares his story for all to hear, and by using his own experiences, he discusses the mistakes he made, the lessons he learnt and most importantly, that in our darkest hour, when all hope seems lost, recovery is possible. 04.01.2022 Females to the front For the first time in 12 years, an all-female crew from #AusAirForce's No. 36 Squadron has taken to the skies in a C-17A Globemaster III ...from RAAF Base Amberley. The mission was captained by Flight Lieutenant Caitlin Rytenskild and supported by co-pilot Flying Officer Gemma Dorn, and loadmaster Corporal Charlotte Roe. Flight Lieutenant Rytenskild said the image of the inaugural 2008 all-female mission was her inspiration growing up. Throughout high school I was interested in aviation and started flying lessons with a friend, Flight Lieutenant Rytenskild said. As it was such a male-dominated industry at the time, my mum was on the lookout for news that included a female pilot. She came across an article about RAAF women who flew the C-17A and cut it out of the paper to give to me." Over the years at No. 36 Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Rytenskild received support from her supervisors and colleagues which inspired the voyage.
