18.01.2022 FIRE ACTION WEEK kicks off today and Victorians are being urged to prepare themselves and their properties for this year’s bushfire season. Key points for community members to focus on: - Taking the time to understand your personal fire risk.... - Make a fire plan including triggers to leave, what you will take, where you will go and how you will get there. - Preparing your property to minimise the chance of property damage during a fire, even if you plan to leave early. - Ensure you stay up to date throughout the fire danger period including information on Fire Danger Ratings on the VicEmergency website or app daily to understand the fire risk in your local area. Stay safe.

18.01.2022 We are part of your community, and our people are ready to respond when you need us most. Today is #InternationalFirefightersDay, where we take time to reflect ...on the tens of thousands of CFA firefighters who protect our communities, and the 80 CFA members who have given their lives doing so. We honour all of them today, from here and around the world thank you for keeping us safe.

05.01.2022 House fires can happen to anyone, any time. More than 90% of Victorians recently surveyed agreed that having a working smoke alarm at home made them feel safe. But only one in ten households have their smoke alarms in the recommended location, with the remainder putting themselves at risk of serious injury or death.... Are your smoke alarms in the right places? Our latest fire safety advice is that all homes should have smoke alarms installed in each bedroom and living area to give everyone the greatest chance of escaping a fire. CFA data for the last 10 years shows a quarter of all house fires resulting in death or serious injury started in bedrooms. More than half occurred between the sleeping hours of 8pm and 8am with the majority starting between midnight and 4am. Most fatalities occur in July and August. So winter is a critical time for you to be aware of the dangers that may be present in your home. More information can be found https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/silence-is-deadly Only working smoke alarms save lives.
