13.01.2022 In 1967 Australia held a referendum for the removal of the Discriminating words other than the Aboriginal race in any State from s 51(XXVI) of the Constitution and the removal of discriminatory reference to ‘aboriginal natives’ under s 127, so that the Aboriginal would be included in the people of any race category. The referendum was voted a resounding 90.8% YES by voters. The referendum remains the biggest majority for any referendum ever held in Australia. 04.01.2022 A category 5 cyclone is due to make landfall in Fiji tomorrow evening, predicted to be the strongest storm ever observed in the South Pacific basin. Heavy wind gusts above 270km/hr are threatening damage to homes, livelihoods and important community infrastructure. ADRA is on the ground on standby, preparing to respond with prepositioned stock if needed.
