17.01.2022 Our Community Buyers bulk pantry order will open very soon. Many people ask me how best to store their bulk pantry foods. And this is an important question to ask! It is imperative that you store your organic food properly to retain freshness and avoid infestation. Conventional flours, grains, nuts and seeds, are pumped with herbicides and pesticides while growing, fumigated during storage and transport, then irradiated upon entry to Australia. They are essential dead f...ood devoid of normal micro-organisms and toxic to creepy crawlies. The bugs won't eat it so it lasts longer. Organic foods on the other hand are full of life, are clean and act much more like fresh food than their conventional friends. Bugs want to get at this food as much as we do. Honest to Goodness have put together this useful guide to safe storage which keeps the bugs at bay naturally and without toxic intervention. WANT TO GET IN ON OUR BULK BUYING EXPERIENCE? Having ingredients on hand when you need them means you will be more likely to feel inspired and motivated in the kitchen, you’ll save time, and you’ll actually enjoy cooking and preparing meals. Buying your pantry staples in bulk is definitely the smartest way to stock your kitchen. * buying in bulk save...s you money * buying food in bulk reduces waste and your environmental impact * buying in bulk means less trips to the store And buying your organic food in bulk through Passionately Vital Organic Buyers Community also means you'll be getting the very best quality, and freshest food. We order your bulk food directly from the distributors - the same distributors that supply all the organic stores. The difference is, we order only the amount we need to fulfill your orders. Our food is cleaner and it's fresher than buying from organic stores and markets. I have so many new developments I want to share with you. But not all at once. I was told me NO LEAKS, but here's a little picture of how the site's looking so far (I couldn't help myself). 2020 is going to be a massively exciting year for PV and for me personally. And I cannot wait. PS - I will sneak some more images and share them - sh...hhhh PPS - Oh yeah, I almost forgot The web guy asked me to ask you, our amazing community, this question. Q. If you could add one function to the PV website to make ordering easy what would you request? Please answer in the comment and I will pass them on. Colette
10.01.2022 The body doesn’t have an organ called the immune system. The human body is an immune system. A system composed of viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites & a few h...uman elements too. The last decade has uncovered discoveries of the vast universe we call the microbiome. Two paradigm shifting conclusions have been ascertained from thousands of research studies: Neither human immunity or the human brain work without the interaction of millions of species of tiny organisms that inhabit every niche of the human body. The gut is the Manhattan of the microbiome. Every internal organ; liver, kidneys, vascular system, and brain, have unique ecosystems of viruses, bacteria & fungi that maintain balance & function. The foundation of the gut & microbiome in human health cannot be over emphasized. Our lab has been working for 7 years to understand the relationship between the microbiome & integrity of the intestinal lining. Your gut lining, covering two tennis courts in surface area, is only half the thickness of a human hair. This super thin cellophane-like barrier is not a wall, but rather an intelligent gate keeper, allowing the good stuff in, & keeping out unwanted biome, toxins, organic, inorganic toxins, etc. In a profoundly eloquent method of checks & balances, mother nature has designed our gut barrier, the primary structure that defines your self-identity at the biologic level, to be completely dependent on its continuous contact with the microbial population of the earth. Through your breath, food & all you touch, your microbiome is an extension of you. If you isolate yourself from nature & her biodiversity, you will falter in your self-identity, immune function, & in your mind. 1 course of antibiotics: shown to increase your risk of major depression by 24%, anxiety disorders by 17% 2 courses of antibiotics in a year: 52% increase in depression & 44% increase in anxiety disorders. Neither the microbiome or the virome are against us. The microbiome, communicating via viruses, is the origin of biologic life & the avenue of adaptation that makes a biodiverse, abundant, resilient earth. If we fight it, we will die. Go hug a tree. 05.01.2022 THE VACCINE MOST NEEDED... You’d be forgiven for thinking lately that viruses like corona are the MOST serious drivers of global death and morbidity. If not COV...ID then certainly infectious diseases in general right? Wrong. The biggest killer on planet earth today isn’t a microbe or a mosquito, it isn’t dirty water, it isn’t land mines or war and it isn’t malnutrition it’s lifestyles of inequality. Whilst global Corona virus deaths are currently around 2.5 million people, a massive 388 million people have died of lifestyle diseases over the last 10 years alone. That's 70% of all global deaths and 80% of these can already be prevented with existing knowledge - we don't need more medical research to achieve this. On top of this, every single death from war, road injury and homicide combined account for only 10% of global deaths - yet military budgets continue to expand. The remaining global deaths are distributed across every single infectious disease combined together with infant mortality and maternal death rates (read that again slowly) yet our rabid war on microbial terrorists also continues to dominate health strategies. Meanwhile chronic lifestyle deaths like diabetes, heart disease and lung cancer quietly kill more than twice as many people as every single infant and maternal death and every single infectious disease combined - and yes that includes HIV and malaria. The diseases you are most likely to die from currently have no preventative pharmaceutical product behind them just good old fashioned diet and exercise. In Australia, chronic diseases are the leading cause of illness, disability and death, already accounting for 92% of all deaths. Shame there's not a vaccine for obesity related heart disease and diabetes I hear you murmur. Globally for every person that dies of malaria 30 die from lifestyle mediated diseases - yet no Nobel prizes are awarded to those working in nutrition and health literacy. This is the so called disease of ‘affluenza’ right where rich people get fat and sick? Wrong again. A massive 4 out of every 5 chronic lifestyle deaths are in poor and disadvantaged communities. This means: 4 out of five heart attacks 4 out of five diabetic comas 4 out of 5 smoking related lung cancers You used to have to be rich to afford a heart attack, now you need to be rich to avoid one. Gone are the days of rich and fat, we are in the era of poor and fat. 2.5 BILLION people, or 1 in 3 humans on planet earth are now officially obese, with sugar rich foods being a major contributor. Most of the world's population already officially live in countries where obesity kills more people than being malnourished and underweight. All over the world, poor people are more likely to smoke, less likely to exercise, consume less fruits and vegetables and eat higher amounts of high sugar, high energy, high fat foods and be overweight or obese. Compared to Australian adult smoking rates of 13 per cent, disadvantaged and homeless people have smoking rates as high as 77 per cent. Surely it’s time to ask them why they're smoking rather than putting even more graphic images on cigarette packaging! Quite simply, unhealthy socio-economic conditions give rise to unhealthy lifestyle choices - not only do empty pockets choose empty calories, they also drink and smoke more to cope with the stress of poverty and inequality. Empty pockets also don’t allow pilates classes and gym memberships. Clearly we need a different medical philosophy than the pills for ills approach so popular in orthodox medical centres the world over. The bottom line is this: there can be no health in an unhealthy culture. We must immunize our children against ignorance and inequality too. Yet giving them multivitamins and yoga classes isn’t enough, we also need to make the world a saner and fairer place: we need healthy farming policies, healthy economic policies and healthy IT policies to name but a few. So go forth sweet friends, and make your world a healthier place not with anti-virals and multivitamins but with your humanity itself. For the vaccine we need most is to immunise ourselves against apathy, fear and ignorance. Humanity is the answer. It’s you. It was always you. 04.01.2022 HAPPY DAY Showing your loved ones how much they mean to your should not be reserved for Valentine's Day. Remind them every day! Here's one way I personally like to throw some love hearts at my kids. With heart-shaped gut-lovin' gelatin gummies!... There as so many benefits of incorporating gelatin into your diet every day. According to much of the information I've read through Weston Price's work and other sources, good quality, grass-fed gelatin provide various health benefits including: * joint maintenance and recovery * digestion improver since it binds to water and helps food move more easily through the intestinal tract * healing and coating the stomach helping to alleviate allergies * supporting skin, hair and nail growth * skin elasticity improver * cellulite improver * and is an excellent source of dietary collagen (throw away your collagen creams, they don't work because collagen needs to be taken internally!) My favourite reason for using gelatin is for it's gut healing and maintenance properties. If my gut is functioning properly, my nervous and immune systems are better supported. ~~ SUPER BERRY GELATIN GUMMIES ~~ INGREDIENTS 2 cups of homemade kombucha or water kefir (or any fruit juice) 1 cup frozen organic berries (pureed) 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup) 8 tablespoons of grass-fed gelatin (I use and recommend Gelpro Australian Grass-Fed Gelatin) INSTRUCTIONS 1. Combine kombucha and honey in a saucepan 2. Heat over low heat until warm (do not boil) 3. Add gelatin gradually by sprinkling it into the saucepan while whisking well to incorporate the gelatin 4. Add pureed berries and mix until smooth 5. Remove from heat 6. Immediately pour into silicone molds. 7. Place in the fridge for at least 1 hour to set 8. Enjoy! You can find all the Gelpro products here. Gelpro collagen is always only $30.55 for PV Crunchy VIP members.
