25.01.2022 This smaller pastel painting of Cow and Calf is on display at the Cooroy Butter Factory Artesan Store, now open again daily Tuesdays-Saturdays. I'll post the steps taken to create the final pastel painting. Thanks to Baranbali Farm for the photo reference of their beautiful cows. Framed without a mat, Frame size 29 cm x 39 cm.

24.01.2022 A new oil on the easel this week of Obidos, Portugal. Painted on a birch panel 45cm xv61 cm. I visited this delightful, old walled village in 2015 and was mesmerised by its character as I wandered around the narrow hilly streets.

24.01.2022 A coat of varnish sure makes these colours pop!!

24.01.2022 One of my 2 entries in this year's Eclectica Awards Exhibition at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre. Save the date for our opening...Saturday 28th December...Lake MacDonald Musings, 67cm x 47 cm. Pastel on Pastelmat Board. #cooroybutterfactory #cooroybutterfactoryartscentre

24.01.2022 This was an unusual request from a client, to restore a chalk/pastel painting from the 1960's, originally painted by an indigenous artist. The painting was fading away. It had been worked on non-archival paper glued to roughly textured mdf. My client is very happy with the result.

22.01.2022 Painting the colours of New Mexico this week.

22.01.2022 I have set up and Etsy shop to sell the cotton fabric face masks I am currently creating. See under warpandweftcreations

21.01.2022 The Rock's Garden, Uluru. Oil on canvas, 102 cm x 77 cm. The Rock's Garden was inspired by our visit to Central Australia in 2017. Being now a National Park managed by the Traditional owners, beautiful native flora abounds, and we were very fortunate to see lots of wildflowers in June. (and no flies!!) A very special and beautiful park of our land. Please excuse a repost on this painting!

20.01.2022 I spent the day working in the Artesan Store of the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre. Enjoyable as usual and kept busy with customers. I came home with a purchase myself today...this lovely vase created by Linda Clarke of Fletch and Arrow ceramics...it looks great as a vessel for these spring blooms from our garden...another still life prop too!

20.01.2022 Thanks to Mark of Cross Cabinets, Cooroy, I now have a specially designed storage cabinet for my studio...artwork and papers currently stacked in folders can now lie flat in these drawers. Although, as my studio is presently being used as my mask sewing studio...it is very handy to store my fabric colour palette!!

19.01.2022 Dusk, Lake MacDonald. At the brushes down stage, oil on canvas 24" x 18 " beechwood panel. Our evening walk routine is always a delight, as the sun sinks behind us and the last rays illuminate the clouds.

18.01.2022 Still life with Marigolds, oil on linen, 30x30cm. A little like the 70's....some progress steps too.

18.01.2022 Getting back to work in the studio. This is last week's piece. Oil on linen. 40x30cm. My inspiration to create this little still life began with the beautiful ceramic piece by Carol Watkins. And I loved the contrasting tone and texture of the white onion and soft cool red drape.

13.01.2022 A little finessing to these two little demonstration pastel paintings from my Skyscape workshop on the weekend. To finger blend or not to finger blend your work, is always the burning question asked in a workshop. In these 2 paintings I have used no finger blending on my cumulous cloud painting. But with my Adelaide Hills Golden Canola Fields painting I have used a very delicate touch to soften some of my tonal blends in the clouds before reworking some strokes of pastel over this. Judicial and selective blending is the key!

11.01.2022 fresh off the easel...

09.01.2022 A celebration in blue...true blue...ultramarine blue actually...pastel over ink on art spectrum colourfix paper, 66x46cm.

08.01.2022 With a little loosening of the belt of our Covid Restricted Movements this long weekend, Montville Art Gallery will be open. I have several oil paintings available and on display, including a couple of local scenes, like this one, Hinterland Pastoral, 69 cm x 46 cm, oil on canvas. So if you are within the 50 km zone, Wayne and Tracy will welcome you. #montvilleartgallery

07.01.2022 I pastelled this still life piece a little while back, on velour paper, painted from a live set up using fresh flowers from the garden. We found this little log vase in a treasure hunt in a Tassie seconds store.

07.01.2022 I've been busy with the sewing machine, designing my own cotton fabric face mask....now selling locally at the Cooroy Butter Factory Artesan Store, and in my etsy shop. Of course I have had fun creating these to be both practical and colourful! We always need a little colour to brighten our lives!! Save lives, brighten lives! I am also making washable fabric mask tote bags in which to carry your clean mask, and also to store it after wearing. Gently wash them together before the next use. https://www.etsy.com//84/washable-cotton-fabric-face-mask

07.01.2022 On the easel today, Towards Mt Cooroora, oil on linen, 30 cm x 30 cm. I never tire of exploring our beautiful Hinterland for new vantage points.

06.01.2022 Many thanks to the very talented duo, Ian and Lara Pugh, from Cooroy based business, Blue Apple Projects for creating my new business logo. I had trouble deciding on just 1 logo as Lara presented me with such a selection of great designs.

05.01.2022 From my private FB page ...

04.01.2022 A little plein air study of Mt Cooroora, Pomona, in pastel, 12" x 16" on pastel premier paper from US. A lovely surface to work on. The rocky western side of the mountain was in shade which contrasted nicely with the sunlit gums and grass in the foreground. I really needed a much larger piece of paper to create a better composition but I feel I have captured the mountain's presence.

04.01.2022 Reminiscing on a wonderful week spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2015 whilst attending IAPS, the International Association of Pastel Society convention. This is a typical Adobe building and street scene from New Mexico. Really enjoyed the challenge of painting this in oils.

04.01.2022 Artist's block hits us from time to time and we sometimes need a little nudge to get us going again. I am thankful that this week, I have had a very welcome little nudge in the form of a pastel painting commission, for a farewell gift, of Lake MacDonald as viewed from the Botanical Gardens. I hope it brings the recipient fond memories of our Cooroy region.

03.01.2022 I taught my first pastel workshop for 2020 on Saturday. My grateful thanks to Brian from the Caloundra Arts Centre pastel group for organising the event, which ...was packed..... although well spaced according to Covid rules. Really enjoyed teaching this friendly group. Our subject of skyscapes and clouds was very fitting, on such a wet day. See more

03.01.2022 A little pleinair pastel study today. Thankful for the shelter of this broad palm tree with such blustery conditions. Now to work on a larger studio piece for the forthcoming Eclectica Exhibition at The Butterfactory Arts Centre. I only have a day left to enter......no pressure!!

02.01.2022 Who doesn't love the colours of the seaside, especially on a blue sky day? Seascapes is the topic of our class this week and the next. Our Friday morning pastel teaching classes, twice each month, are now full but Wallace House, Noosa will add your name to a waitlist if you would like to join. I could be starting another class in the future.

02.01.2022 I've painted this little fun pastel with inspiration from our own garden in Spring. "Spring Cheer" is worked on suede paper and measures 33 cm x 33 cm.

02.01.2022 We spent a couple of days recently staying on the Scenic Rim, inland from the Gold Coast. I was in painter's heaven, with mountains, clear running water, green grass and cows!! I had liberty to do 7 plein air oil painting studies. What joy!! This piece is close to being finished. Cloud 9, 30cm x 45 cm.

01.01.2022 I delivered 3 new works to #montvilleartgallery yesterday. The hinterland towns are buzzing with visitors out enjoying themselves. 01.01.2022 Earthly treasures, a pastel Still life painting, 35 cm x 45 cm, featuring some of my pottery collection, from the talented hands of those who work with clay. Would you like to join me at my PSA workshop, Saturday 22nd May, at Buderim Craft Cottage? Details and registration at www.ozpastels.com.au. We will be using the elements and principles of art and design to compose and pastel our very own still life arrangements.

01.01.2022 This pastel has been sitting on the easel watching me sew for the past couple of months, patiently waiting to be completed. Well, my sewing machine foot pedal has broken and I am back to the easel! We came across this view when spending a couple of days visiting beautiful Maleny in June. A late afternoon scene, Bathed in Light, Maleny...pastel; 47x33 cm..completed!
