12.01.2022 We cancelled mosaic today. Els turned up in case anyone didnt get the notice. Marg turned up to get some grout. Sandy turned up because she didnt read the email. Janet turned up cause she wanted to get rid of the stuff from Saturdays workshop that was cluttering her lounge room. Voila. We had social distancing with just 4. So we measured and cut out all the odd bits of fibreglass netting for the coat. These are NOT the final Positions for these patches. We were just measuring.

11.01.2022 Thinking about poor lonely Pat.

10.01.2022 STUDIO ALCHEMIC PRESENTS Angels of a Lesser Known God: Meaning Without a Cause An exhibition of paintings and prints... By Russell J Lilford 3rd March - 5th April 2020 at WEST GIPPSLAND ARTS CENTRE, Warragul Opening event on Friday 6th March 2.30-5.00pm All welcome at the Artists Talk on Wednesday 18th March Lounge foyer WGAC 12.30pm Angels of a Lesser Known God: Meaning Without a Cause is an inspired body of work that offers its audience a unique experience of connecting metaphor and spiritual icons with myth. Based on the iconic vision of angels yet placed in contemporary landscapes, the paintings and prints question our view on life, its past, present and future. What is it that we look for in our lives, and how do we form our opinions? Influenced by tradition, politics, religion, and those around us, life is one constant question, without an answer... Lilfords visual language shines a different light. He manages to present images that illuminate visual meaning in the most subtle of ways, allowing the viewer to have a meaningful engagement with his work on many levels, without righteousness or dogma. His use of colour and icon allows the audience to transcend to another level of viewing pleasure. Lilford says that when people come to his Artist Talk on 18th March at 12.30pm at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, he would like to get direct feedback from his audience - he wants to know what people feel about this work and what inspires or annoys people in all aspects of this exhibition. It is interesting to see what sort of emotions are elevated by this sort of art, Lilford says, that its not just about finding out about what people like but how people feel, how people respond to the work, what emotions are being invoked. By doing this, Lilford says that it makes Angels of a Lesser Known God: Meaning Without a Cause become more accessible through shared insight into visual language, which in turn can lead to a better understanding of the somewhat complex ideas often held by artists. If you cant make it to the Artist Talk, come and meet Russell at the Opening on 6th March at 2.30-5.00pm. WGAC.

09.01.2022 Pat is in Quarantine.

08.01.2022 The Station Gallery is bright with colour popping artwork by Yvette on The Wall and Anita in the main Gallery. The walls and the crisp white look fantastic. Hope you can pop in and see. Well done to all. #westgippslandartists, #yarragon #thestationgallery

08.01.2022 The last workshop for the 15x15 squares today. Thank you Warragul Community House Now we have to organise for the odd shapes

07.01.2022 We have had a productive couple of days.

07.01.2022 Today, unexpectedly Pat received a paper jacket. This is the first of 3 jackets. Marlene will use the paper pattern to create a fabric replica, which in turn will be the template for the mosaic patches.

06.01.2022 Yesterday, Pat got a layer of fibreglass netting, a layer of kerabond and isolastic, and a poke in the eye from Els.

06.01.2022 We, or rather Carol has managed to reduce our template to a manageable size. And we can still read our codes on each patch

05.01.2022 Here are the patches from, we think, the very last patch workshop. All odd shapes. Massive thanks to the stalwarts of the last few weeks, Els Farenhorst, Isabel Robertson, Margaret Thorpe, Barb Gogerly, Ingrid Thomas

05.01.2022 There was a big workshop today and Pat received the first coat of render. Here are some before and after shots. Pat has also had the first location change, moving from inside the studio to outside, in a marquee. Pats kennel.

05.01.2022 A back view of Pat. That hole you can see is for one of the bolts that will secure Pat to the plinth. There should be 3 more tiling sessions and then one massive grouting session before Pat is moved to the plinth.

04.01.2022 Here are some people today making a patch for Pat at the Ficifolia Art Show. If you missed your chance today, you can book into Warragul Community House on either the 7th or the 14th March. Phone 5623 6032. Bookings essential.

04.01.2022 Pat had a ride on a truck today. Pat has moved to Yarragon where the mosaic tiles will be applied. Then one more ride to the final location.

04.01.2022 Putting it all together. This was todays work. We are getting up to the more exciting part

04.01.2022 It’s been very very wet this week, so Pat got a second coat

03.01.2022 If you enlarge the pic, you will have a better view of the rendalock that now encages Pat. A wonderful days work.

02.01.2022 Pat is staying nice and warm in this cold weather. Pat is on holidays for 6 weeks from Thursday, the same as the rest of Victoria.

01.01.2022 GIPPSLAND CREATIVITY: THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT OF PAT THE DOG Meet Pat the Dog, a community arts project created by the Baw Baw Arts Alliance which is ...being funded by Regional Arts Victoria. The public art sculpture will eventually be dressed in a coat of colourful hand decorated tiles and be located next to the Station Gallery in Yarragon. "Jessie McLennan is responsible for the sculpture and she likes to work from a live model", says participant Janet Wyllie. "She used my old dog Jett, who is pretty good at not moving around too much if there is a treat involved". Over 100 local people have worked on the project, which has been in progress for the last 12 months. Stage 3 restrictions have delayed the application of the patchwork mosaic until September, but hopefully Pat will be ready (and restrictions have eased) in time to greet visitors to Gippsland by the summer! See more

01.01.2022 Some of the people involved with the making of Pat, are holding an exhibition of their mosaics.

01.01.2022 Some of the patches from todays workshop at Warragul Community House. Can you pick the two in this photo made by 6 year olds? Amazing work!
