25.01.2022 The Budget isn’t just about numbers. It’s about helping Australians. Jane is one of those Australians. She has Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and #Budget2020 includes ...funding to list a new medicine, Mayzent, for her type of MS on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Having access to this medicine has given her hope. Access to it would normally cost around $25,000 a year but on the PBS it will only cost $41 for general patients and $6.60 for concession card holders. Multiple Sclerosis is an awful disease, one my family knows all too well. It affects over 25,000 Australians. One of them is Jen’s brother Gary. Every day another 1-2 Australians are diagnosed with it. This new medicine won’t help Gary’s type of MS but it will help around 800 Australians with this type of MS. It’s part of a $376 million investment in the Budget to add new medicines to the PBS, along with other life-saving medicines to treat ovarian cancer, leukaemia, melanoma and Parkinson’s disease. It’s only through our government’s strong economic management that we can continue to guarantee the essential services Australians rely on, like listing new life-changing and life-saving medicines on the PBS.

18.01.2022 As part of #Budget2020, we listed Lynparza on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) to help women with ovarian cancer. Instead of costing more than $140,000 ...per course, patients will now access this medication at $6.60 per script for concession card holders & around $41 per script for general patients. The PBS provides access to critical medicines for all Australians. Our Government has made more than 2,000 new or amended listings to the PBS since 2013. The Government is continuing to guarantee the essential services Australians rely on as part our Economic Recovery Plan.

11.01.2022 Penrith celebrates IDPwD 2020 - participants wanted! Each year on 3 December, Penrith City Council celebrates International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). It's a day to talk about and celebrate the contributions and achievements of people of all abilities, break down barriers and see the ability in disability. While in previous years Council has worked with local disability services to host an event in the Mondo, our 2020 celebrations have taken a COVID-safe and r...ather crafty turn. Day programs, group homes, specialist schools and individuals across Penrith are invited to participate in this free project. Participants will receive an arty, crafty kit delivered to their door, and be inspired by creative tips from local art makers via Zoom workshops to be held in late November. The completed works will be displayed in the Penrith Central Library from 3 December until the end of the year and Councils project partner, Uniting, will capture the journey in a video to be shared on Council’s YouTube channel on December 3rd. Council’s IDPwD Art Project will help bring members of our community together to explore their creativity and learn something new while giving the broader community a chance to celebrate the talents of people with disability. To get involved or for further information, contact Council’s Disability Inclusion Officer ASAP.
