21.01.2022 PATHWAYS RECEIVES PUBLIC COMPLIMENT FROM FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MINISTER Pathways CEO, Aldo Antolli, received this unusual but very encouraging note from a leader in our sector in Tasmania that we have a close relationship with. Its nice to get a public pat on the back. Nicer still to hear it shared this way. Reprinted unedited with permission from the author.... --- 23 October 2019 Hi Aldo, I recently attended the National housing conference in Darwin. During the conference I attended the National AHI Awards night and was very excited to receive the Tenant led initiative Award on behalf of a Trinity Hill resident. One of the key speakers at the award night was the Assistant Minister for Community Housing, Homelessness and Community Services Luke Howarth. During the Ministers opening speech, you were mentioned in person. The Minister spoke for approximately 10 minutes directly about you and your service, Launch. During his speech he spoke about a recent visit to Tasmania where he met with you in person and spoke with you about the local issues we face with Housing and Youth. The Minister gave a number of examples of the wonderful work you are doing in Tasmania, especially during such a challenging time. He spoke in detail in relation to some amazing outcomes Launch has had. He was visibly moved when telling the story of the gentlemen that had found a wallet and had returned it to Launch only to inform you that he had been supported by Launch many years ago and that Launch had provided him with not just the right support but how Launch had created opportunity for him to get him to where he is now. It was so nice to hear a Key speaker, especially a Minister focusing on the wonderful work being done in Tasmania and even nicer to hear how much he was taken back with the great work you and your team do. I wanted to thank you personally not only for the support and collaboration we have here in Tasmania but for the time you took to speak with the Minister and highlight the challenges we face but more importantly the great outcome that can be achieved. We are often left without too much recognition here in Tasmania yet we have so much to offer so it was a very welcomed surprise to hear the Minister talk so much about the great work you are doing. Well done and many thanks, Michael Parkinson Southern Area Manager-Supported Residential Services Anglicare Tasmania Inc. Shelter Tasmania

18.01.2022 UPDATE ON HOW PATHWAYS IS COPING DURING THIS COVID-19 SEASON Dear supporters, Since many of you have been calling and emailing, we want you to be updated on how we are doing at this crazy time.... Like you, we have been keeping on top of the daily (almost frenzied) announcements from all jurisdictions of government. The learning curve is steep. We have an open channel of contact with supervisory bodies over us, including Dept Health. We have advanced hygiene and isolation measures in place with PPE (personal protective equipment) for all our staff and clients, and training provided by RHH in Hobart. Our clients (who are all in a high-risk category) have gone into voluntary isolation and no visitors are permitted at any of our sites. Our staff, who are part of the social services and health sector, are required to attend work during this COVD-19 season, with only a minimal number of staff able to work from home because we provide 24/7 supported accommodation services. Understandably, everyone is a little bit nervous, but we are prepared and have increased the training and support to meet the level of preparedness needed. Our team is united and determined to look after the very vulnerable people in our care. If you have a mind to, we would appreciate your prayers and support during this time, but right now, we are doing very well and following all government and medical guidelinesas we ask you to do as well. This is what love looks like. We look forward to all this ending and our lives coming back to some sort of new normal. We wish you all safety and support during this unprecedented season in all our lives. Aldo Antolli CEO

07.01.2022 ATTENTION LADIES WITH A HEART TO SERVE AND HELP. A life changing live-in volunteer position is available in Hobart. Advertisement: Female House Supervisor... A life changing volunteer position has opened for 2 female House Supervisors for the Velocity Transformations Womens Drug and Alcohol Rehab program in Hobart, Tasmania. This live-in position includes free room and board, groceries and mobile phone allowance along with use of a company vehicle as required. Educational support is also offered towards a Cert IV or similar in AOD studies or Community Services. A 12 months minimum commitment is sought. Velocity Transformations is the only long-term residential alcohol and other drugs (AOD) treatment facility in Southern Tasmania and receives partial government funding. The rehab (part of a national network of similar rehabs that have been running for 20 years) utilises an evidence-based treatment program in a faith supported Christian community. The program is run in conjunction with Tasmanian not-for-profit Pathways Tasmania, and Velocity Church. The program runs a very successful mens program for up to 14 adult males, and we are now needing House Supervisors to launch our womens program for up to 10 females. This position vacancy is to help support the womens program and run the womens house where female residents live in a drug and alcohol-free environment. The role is in conjunction with another fellow House Supervisor based on a split roster. You will be supported by a professional team of staff, case managers and program coordinators who will manage the bulk of the program work. Working days are primarily evenings with sleep-over shifts. Every second weekend is free. As the position will come under a volunteer agreement covered by Acts Global Church T/A Velocity Church, an ability to demonstrate alignment with the faith-based mission of the program is essential, along with fulfillment of a police check and a valid drivers license. Extensive training both locally and interstate will be offered to the successful applicant to ensure that they are fully equipped for the work. This unique and very exciting position would suit someone with a passion and interest in community services, the AOD sector or mission for those battling life debilitating addictions. It is an ideal opportunity for those undergoing full or part-time study as your days are mostly free. Relocation costs will be considered for successful applicants from outside the area, with financial support for travel on an agreed basis to revisit with family and friends during the 12month tenure. The position is for an immediate start and comes with full workers compensation insurance coverage as a registered volunteer with the program. Why not consider joining us for a year in beautiful Hobart, Tasmania and make a real change in the lives of others? This is a wonderful chance to put your mission and passion for helping people into action! For more information, contact: Richard Guy 0403069274 or Aldo Antolli 0447263511 or email: [email protected]

04.01.2022 Trigger warning (TW): domestic violence ******** "Get out of my house!" That was what my mother said after I called the police. She had been violently arguing with her boyfriend for three hours. I came out of my room to find her with my two little brothers - one under each arm - and her boyfriends hand around her throat. I freaked out and called the police, to protect the three of them. Afterwards she started drinking, she was so upset, and started abusing me. I told to leav...e me alone, she told me to get out. I went. I spent my money on a backpackers, and when it ran out, I literally had no where to go. I found myself at Launch Youth - a homeless shelter for young men like me. It's run by Pathways, and it changed my life - it really did. I went from an unsafe and violent house, to having nowhere at all, to Launch where I was told I was important. Worth something. Valued. I wouldn't be here today without Pathways and the help they gave me. I wouldn't own a house, have a car. I wouldn't have a child or a wife. I wouldn't be a professional in the community sector. This Christmas, I'm taking some time to thank the people at Launch Youth who helped me - and to let other people in the community know that there is support. There is help. There are pathways to a better life. https://pathwaystas.org.au/programs/launch-youth
03.01.2022 Not to be outdone, this is Zeeke, resident woofer at Launch Youth. While he will welcome Halo to the Pathways Family, he has asked that we let you all know that he was here first and is definitely the BEST dog.
