25.01.2022 Another awesome solar pergola, these structures are so popular in Perth at the moment and its easy to understand why. At around half the price of the more conventional louvered vergolas and better looking they are an absolute winner! So you get shade in the summer and glorious sunlight in the winter, what could be better?

25.01.2022 Elsewhere all over Perth we have various patios and carports under construction and the bare bones will soon be clad in lining or a rather nice paint job! Lots of clients are certainly seeing the benefit of renovating their homes and in particular their back yards and starting now means they will be ready to put their feet up and enjoy the space when spring has sprung!

25.01.2022 Been a very busy couple of weeks at Patio Living as West Australians embrace the best of being confined within the state and renovate their backyards in time for summer! These two timber framed patios were finished last week in Ascot and Bayswater and feature the latest heat reflective, diffused polycarbonate. Its a great option to reduce the glare of the summer sun whilst still brightening up the backyard in the summer..

24.01.2022 This white lined alfresco extension is not unusual but its location below a raised deck is pretty unique! Its located in Yoline and is almost complete, with the fan and downlights going in this weekend! An awesome contrast to the warmer tones of the deck the white lining boards are the perfect solution when looking for something light and uplifting for almost any home.

21.01.2022 Not every carport we build is a timber framed character design that sits in front of an older home in Mount Lawley or North Perth. This lined skillion roof occupies pride of place in the front yard of a Dianella home and goes to prove you can put a modern twist on a simple structure and turn it into something that would work in almost any suburb..

21.01.2022 These pictures taken as the sun went down earlier this week perfectly capture all the great things about creating an outdoor living space in Perth. The climate is perfect for a late lunch, a smart dinner party or simply finding a more relaxed, laid back spot overlooking the pool to relax after a long day. The design and choice of materials blend in perfectly with the owners home and although the construction was only finished a couple of months ago it looks like it was its been there since the house was built! Why hang around inside watching reality TV when you can embrace all thats great outside and you dont have to wander to far out yonder!

20.01.2022 Very nice Jarrah deck in Floreat that wraps around a beautiful mature tree and has some very eye catching angled steps. Its the perfect exit from the home leading down to the lawned area and a pool and offers a raised living space easily large enough for both a dining area and a more casual space for the parents to relax and watch the kids in the pool.

19.01.2022 Just south of the city we have finisjed this huge pitched roof thats more a cathedral than a church! Its been glazed at both ends so that the owners can install blinds and completely weather proof and engineered so that a lined ceiling can be added in the near future. This space is going to see some very large gatherings come spring!

18.01.2022 This amazing structure would grace sculptures by the sea at Cottesloe and is currently under construction in Fremantle. Later this week we will be installing some steel batons for additional shade and cladding some of the beams with a beautiful hardwood timber so more pictures to follow!

17.01.2022 Up in the hills our landscaper has just finished the paving under this really simple but eye catching alfresco. Theres an awesome view back to Perth from underneath the new space and in the corner the owners have built in a small alfresco kitchen so there is no need to rush back inside to the kitchen for a bite to eat, a cold glass of wine or an ale... The cedar lining is the perfect contrast to the warm tones in the new travertine pavers on the floor, looks great!

15.01.2022 Its been almost 10 months since we first met Jo and Tim in Bassendean and started working on a design for their new alfresco extension. The empty space next to the home and the overgrown backyard are now transforming into an amazing entertaining area and although the project is only 50% complete things are taking shape!

14.01.2022 Despite the wet weather Patio Living have been busy in the last couple of weeks building some very interesting patios and alfrescos as well as a couple of carports in the local area. This project in Mount Hawthorn was a pretty amazing transformation and an overgrown, weed infested back yard not used for anything much is now a stunning Alfresco complete with a kitchen, beautiful raised deck and new landscaping wow!

13.01.2022 Another awesome carport just finished in Vic Park with a timber frame and colorbond roof designed to tie in perfectly with the home and reflect the character of the area. These great looking designs are now replacing the flimsy steel framed structures we suffered for so many years and add far more value to any home.

13.01.2022 Another amazing transformation up on a raised balcony overlooking a pool. The old timber framed pergola that leaked and had become a space to dry the washing is now a stunning Cedar and white lined alfresco extension, pretty impressive!

12.01.2022 A recent storm finished off Deborah and Stuarts patio in Mosman Park and the damage was so severe a repair job wasnt ever going to be good enough! So only a few weeks later and the old steel frame and battered roof sheets are down and in their place a beautiful timber frame is rising soon to be clad and just in time for Stuarts birthday party!

12.01.2022 In Fremantle the epic steel frame continues to see additions and this week it was the steel blades, attached to the framework that went up the week before in a few days the Hardwood cladding for parts of the frame will be delivered and the transformation will be complete!

11.01.2022 Not all our designs have conventional roofs and this amazing shade structure near Freo combines a mixture of steel sections and hardwood timber beams to great effect. Its stand alone in its unique look and feel and the perfect compliment to the owners home and a great spot for the family to find shade when the sun returns!

11.01.2022 Simple but elegant Solar Pergol in Menora just about finished early last week and the perfect spot for the family to find shade when summer returns after a dip in the pool! Its a great blend of traditional materials and cutting edge design that makes these strcutures suit any location and any home.

10.01.2022 What an awesome time of year, beautiful mornings and even better evenings as the sun sets over the West, its an awesome place to be for so many reasons... Around sun set today i took these pictures and they capture another one of our amazing solar pergolas, this one over in Menora, its going to be an epic spot for the family to hang out when the days get warmer and the kids are back in the pool!

09.01.2022 This timber framed patio is beautiful in its simplicity but still reflects the character features the owners wanted to incorporate in its design. The diffused polycarboante roof sheeting takes the sting out of the summer sun whilst still illuminating the area in the winter months and the gable ends helps to frame the view of the treesa nd bush in the background. This one is certainly not inner city! It occupies a spot not far from Mandurah on around 5 acres and was a nice trip down south amongst the trees and some very lush green pastures..

09.01.2022 Back in February we met Jane and Adrian in North Perth who were sheltering under a small gazeebo from Bunnings which really didnt lend itself to any form of entertaining at all! Now 7 months later after a long winter, spring has finally arrived and with it a fantastic timber framed patio that offers more than enough space for a dining area and a more relaxed living space to admire the newly landscaped garden. It promises to be a much more pleasant summer with plenty of room for family friends to relax under a very impressive new roof, just in time for summer...

09.01.2022 Over in Ascot we have finsihed two timber framed aptios at the same home for Vicki and Ian, the first off a large garage/annex at the back of the yard and the other a much larger alfresco extension off the main home. The timber frame allows us to reflect the character of the home and provide a timeless solution that requires little or no maintenance for years to come. The double sided white colorbond ensures that plenty of reflected light works its way into the back of the house at the same time.

07.01.2022 Patio Living spend most of their time in clients backyards creating amazing alfresco extensions, patios, carports and decks however now and again we help out on commercial jobs and this one was down at the Tip Top bakery in Canning Vale. Its nice and simple, some shade and bench seating for the crew when they need a breath of fresh air away from baking duties!

07.01.2022 Over in Mosman Park Stuart celebrated his 99th birthday last year under a leaky patio that had seen better days. He turned 100 last week and just in time for his party and the arrival of a telegram from overseas Patio Living completed his spendid new patio. This one has a beautiful timber frame, no leaks and looks amazing. Happy Birthday Stuart from all at Patio Living who helped deliver your present just in time!

06.01.2022 This stunning lined alfresco extension has many features it shares with the home in an effort to make sure the new addition blended in perfectly with its surrounds. The owners desire to use stainless steel poles came from the existing supports on the front of the home and the texture coated facade and angled gutter mirror the profile of the finishes you can see on the house itself. The space now provides an awesome extension of the living space inside and is the ideal spot to relax after a dip in the pool. Its another great example of how we can replicate the quality and character of the home and provide an open plan zone that makes the most of our wonderful climate.

06.01.2022 Yet another Solar Pergola goes up on a home in South Perth and this project invloves three seperate structures with each pergola shadeing a different balcony. The subtle design is just as perfect on a new two storey property as it is on a character cottage.

05.01.2022 The sun was setting yesterday up in Coolbinia when i took these pictures and ive added some images of the old pergola before we completed the transformation. The old timber framed patio with its leaking polycarbonate roof has now been replaced with a stunning lined alfresco. The white lining boards in the ceiling do a much better job of reflecting light into the home than the old roof sheeting ever did and at night the downlights illuminate the entire living space. Its a great spot to entertain an extended family and friends, overlooking the pool and some amazing gardens...

05.01.2022 And last but not least, this week we installed another great looking extension locally using the flat sheet polycarbonate our clients love. Its diffused so although its letting in some light it cuts out around 80% of the suns direct heat. Fitted to a steel frame it mirrors the finish and colour of the homes windows and doors in design and so provides the perfect compliment to the feel and style of the house.

05.01.2022 This stunning transformation in Shenton Park saw a split level backyard with an old sail for shade blossom into a beautiful space ideal for the family to spend most of the spring and summer entertaining in. The New pool is overlooked by a raised Jarrah deck and white lined alfresco extension and the landscaping and paving compliment the home perfectly. 05.01.2022 Just south of Perth we have just applied the final coats of paint to the ceiling on an alfresco we recently designed and built. Its an unusual shape following a tappered boundary fence but works really well with the white lining the perfact compliment for the darker deck on the floor.

04.01.2022 Something unusual, even for Patio Living is re building bull nose veranda's. Rarely seen on any new home these days they still create a shaded spot at the front of many period homes and blend in with the original building perfectly. We even copied the brick pillars down to the last detail to make sure the new addition looked the part, should finish the landscaping at the front of this house in Subiaco very soon

03.01.2022 After completing several lined alfrescos in recent weeks that all features our white lining boards we had a run of cedar lined jobs come to fruition late last week. These three projects really highlight the warmth and beauty of the timber lining and what a great contrast it provides over a lighter coloured floor such as a travertine tile or similar.

03.01.2022 In Mount Hawthorn about 4 months ago Patio Living along with their landscape team came across a backyard that had literally fallen appart! The patio was in need of a serious refurb, the deck had to be ripped up and re built and the perimeter walls and fences had blown over in a storm. Late last week the new deck was installed, the patio now has a new roof and the landscaper returns this week so more pics to follow as the transformation comes to an end very soon!

02.01.2022 some amazing before and after pictures of Karens home over in Leeming. The old flat pergola has gone and a great looking pitched roof letting in a lot more light has arrived and this home saw not just one patio built but three! Karen had some really clear ideas on what she wanted and we simply helped her fine tune her own inspiration and then most importantly delivered exactly what she was expecting, only better than expected!

01.01.2022 Wembley Downs has seen us build lots of alfresco extensions over the years but this one has to be one of the more interesting transformations. The old pergola had literally collapsed just before we arrived and we were on a sort of rescue mission for the owner Miranda. In its place there is now a graceful, elevated white lined roof with glazed panels at the back designed to let in lots of light as the sun stes in the evening. Its a beautiful spot to kick back with a glass of wine watching the day disappear as the sun sets on another amazing WA day...

01.01.2022 A few months ago, south of the river in Leeming we met the owners of this rather sad looking balcony shaded by an old timber framed patio. And yet we could all see the potential in this raised living space that overlooked the garden and had generous proportions, large enough for a decent dining area or lounge space. Last week, albeit not quite finished, the transformation took shape and the old pergola became a stunning alfresco extension lined with cedar and gyprock, pretty amazing even for us!

01.01.2022 Recently we have been building some really simple but very good looking patios and pergolas for our clients. The design is a very old one but if you simply swap the more basic, cheaper steel frame for timber you get a completely different outcome. The warmth of timber combined with a few clever design tricks create a more inviting structure and one you then add party lights and a fan or even a hammock to far easier than a steel framed patio.

When you mix some thoughtful design and combine it with a great building team you can transform the old and decrepid structures that have been around for far too long and turn them into something stunning, a sort of Cinderalla story!
