16.02.2022 Achieving the outcome I did for my first full marathon is a feat that I am becoming more and more proud of over the past few days! When I think about the hours and hours of training, the exceptional early morning runs, the strength training, hill and speed reps, the 5 am rower sessions, bike riding, weekend races, nutritional assessments, my PT business, gym classes, family commitments and personal recovery, it makes me feel even more exhausted thinking about it than the cal...m, cool, collected and controlled way I executed that race on Sunday! I was scarily relaxed. Totally unhyped, and chomping at the bit to just get going. My mental determination belied a steely inner belief that I have been building on and gaining over the months. Now I'm already thinking about my next Marathon. Nothing has put me off! You don't have to aspire to completing a Marathon, but you do need to aspire to achieving a goal that makes you proud and pushes you beyond your limits! Look at Eliud Kipchoge's determination to challenge the limits! What limits??

09.01.2022 I don't know why I've always been so scared of the water. I love boats, paddle boards, canoes etc anything on top of the water, but don't ask me to put my face IN the water. I've attempted, poorly, the breast stroke, difficult with head up high, a lame doggy paddle and finally having a pool, actually jumping in from the side. Totally inspired by my amazing Triathlon buddy Virginia, I started adult swimming lessons 3 weeks ago. Not bad, said the Instructor, you've got the ae...robic fitness and the athletic physique to be a swimmer. So today, with encouragement and support from Kiana and Coachie John, I took to the sea at Brighton for the Life Surf swimming confidence and improvers programme. Ok I didn't go out of my depth. So whilst the rest of the gang swam back and forth around the buoys etc I stayed near the Life Surfer on the Board and practised being in the 'sea' and my breathing. Not bad, they all said. Head is in the water. Arm stroke looks good with 'intent', and my bum/hips were in the right position on top of the water. Ok there's a long way to go before I attempt that first Triathlon but finally my courage and determination has enabled me to confront my fear! Thank you Virginia and wonderful Coachie John.
