25.01.2022 I have put a note in my calendar to remind me to opt out of the My Health Records on July 16th this year. You only have 3 months to do so (from July to October).... Otherwise, you are giving tacit approval to the gov't and third parties to invade your privacy. Please share this information widely with friends, family and acquaintances. MD If you decide that you don’t want a My Health Record created on your behalf, you will have the opportunity to tell us during a three-month period. This period will run from 16 July to 15 October 2018. It’s not possible to opt out of having a My Health Record before this period starts on 16 July 2018. But you have to opt out actively or it will be assumed you are okay with all your and your children’s medical records being made available to whoever the Government approves. It was originally designed for you to voluntarily opt-in (which few did) but in 2016 the government announced its intention to make it opt-out, whether you want it or not. We think a similar standard of frankness and openness is essential for a tricky opt-out consent process for a medical records system which some people may neither know about nor want, which has little or no clinical value, and which comes with unresolved privacy, confidentiality, information abuse and data security risks."
