23.01.2022 Our word of the month is ‘flexion’. Pronounced ‘fleck-shun’, this is a word used to describe bodily movement which decreases the angle between two body parts. Bending the elbow to bring your hand to your shoulder, and bending your knee to bring your foot to your bottom are both examples of flexion. Touch your chin to your chest this is flexion of the neck. 05.01.2022 It’s exercise time! This month’s exercise to try out is the calf raise. Looking to increase the strength of your calf muscles so you can walk longer, run faster and jump further? The calf raise can get you started! 1. Stand in front of a wall or chair with your feet slightly apart. 2. Lightly place your hands or outstretched fingers on the wall in front of you with your elbows bent at 90 degrees. 3. Without leaning into the wall, raise up on your toes as far as you can... 4. Slowly lower and repeat Do 3 sets of 20 reps and see how your calves feel. Try this every other day for 2 weeks and you’ll start to notice how easy it becomes. #osteo #osteopath #exercise #calfraises #PAH #PattersonAlliedHealth
