Repost from @karenannehutt The Minjerribah Arts Trails, running on weekends throughout the school holidays, and finishing tomorrow, Monday 5th of October, were an absolute delight! Cathy & I met so many exceptionally talented and truly friendly artists on our 2 days visiting some of the many open studios on Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island). We were warmly welcomed into so many homes and workshops, and we loved ...watching them creating their beautiful artwork- i am so thrilled with the few small but lovely pieces that I brought home, from the vast array of amazing work for sale. We didn't manage to visit every open studio, but highlights included meeting Paula Boo (fibre artist and singer-songwriter), Delvene Cockatoo-Collins (visual artist), Anaheke Metua (fibre artist, weaver and jewellery designer), Alan 'Macka' McKinnon (painter), Mandy Roe (ceramicist), Taryn O'Flynn (jewellery designer), Penny Gillespie (contemporary jeweller and metalsmith), and Bernadette Mollison (visual artist, painting and drawing). I really hope that it will become an annual event- I'm already looking forward to next year!!!
