21.01.2022 Self-Reflection is a wonderful thing to do when we make the time. Often people say to me that they don’t know anything, that they are not sure how they stand apart from a sea of sameness, a sea of others who all appear to have similar skills My answer to this question is simple take a look at what your life has thrown at you so far. Depending on your age there might be 2 or 3 or even 10 big lessons that you have learnt in your lifetime already. The skill is being able to a...rticulate these life lessons most of them will probably be painful events in your life given these are events where you generally have to dig deep and search your soul for skills to ‘get through’. The skill is being able to bring these lessons to life and show what skill that has helped you to grow or strengthen. We can all be guilty of drifting along without intention, especially if we are comfortable in our zone. That’s OK if you are exactly where you want to be. But my guess is most people aren’t. This is why we need to focus energy on reaching goals that align with our strategies and values. 14.01.2022 My background and training is all about the value of weighing up a decision. Let’s take something close to our business hearts: how should I quote or charge for a project or piece of work? My concern is getting the balance right between raising revenue for my business and setting a pricing strategy that properly reflects the value of my ongoing work and my worth to this business. It comes down to a value exchange what am I receiving from making this decision and what am I g...iving away? In some cases, it’s a matter of weighing up an immediate benefit against longer-term consequences, or vice-versa. I often talk to people about ‘value’ when it comes to decision making. 13.01.2022 Every business idea (or concept) uses something to make that product or service. Whatever drives your business, these are called ‘Assets’. Determine what assets run your business and what capacity constraints each asset class has. Think - what is the cost of each asset? For Labour intensive businesses, aim to be at min 75% utilisation.
