06.01.2022 Very saddened and still in a bit of shock to hear the news about Muhammad Ali's passing. He is one of my life-time heroes. Ironically, I started out as a youngs...ter not liking him much because he seemed to be such a boaster - very immodest and not the way that I was brought up - it was only later in life that I realised how clever he was - building up the tension to fights and generating world-wide popularity and interest. He found probably the "ideal" promotion mechanism before Facebook and social media came along! But using such tactics also can only be successful if you are the best, and that, he certainly was. He would have to be one of the fastest and most graceful of all boxers - and he was a heavy-weight! His style of fighting was unheard of in the heavy-weight division. A final testament to the man is that he could have such an eventful and successful life and be admired by so many, even his "rivals" who he often mocked in the lead-up to fights. His stand for his values also is one of the most significant of the 20th century. He will be sadly missed by millions around the world, but he has left an amazing legacy and has been one of the world's most iconic figures. Condolences to his family and all those close to the great man. See more
