24.01.2022 Do you want to discover your FQ (Flow Quotient)? Here is the link to download my new FREE Wisdom Circle app on your iPhone (and/or iPad?) only available in the iOS app-store (sorry not android version at this stage) https://apps.apple.com/au/app/wisdom-circle/id1296239401... The ideal is to achieve 100% using the model ... this would be in perfect Flow with a great FQ and also excellent inner strength, inner balance and inner energy. Use the slider to score. Its a seven point score so that there is no mid-point. Be careful that some of the questions are asked in a negative way - low agreement = 1 while strong agreement = 7 Read the documents contained in the info section for more background and explanation. Also has some tips to improve... Please have a play and if you feel up to it, give it a good review in the app-store. You are among the first to use the app so appreciate any other feedback... Ideally, you would do the app before or after a big event or training session... Regular use would help you improve as you get to know the questions (and they make you think...)
24.01.2022 Heart rate variability: A new way to track well-being - It is fascinating to see how HRV changes as you incorporate more mindfulness, meditation, sleep, and especially physical activity into your life. For those who love data and numbers, this can be a nice way to track how your nervous system is reacting not only to the environment, but also to your emotions, thoughts, and feelings.
23.01.2022 One of the Flow state triggers is the ability to intensely concentrate. This ability depends a great deal on your physical wellbeing. We have to try and make life easy for ourselves getting sufficient sleep, staying physically fit, maintaining a healthy weight and getting regular exercise.
23.01.2022 Do you sometimes feel like an imposter doing things to please others...
23.01.2022 Recently I was asked what sort of training I am doing ... the last few months Ive averaged just over 100km per month (a big increase from my average of ar...ound 40km per month). Most of this extra work is to ensure I can be comfortable swimming next month in the 20k Channel of the Champions Rotto swim. My sessions average 5k on a 1:30 cycle but yesterday afternoon was intense (see below) where we held 1:20 cycles (and still had a few seconds rest each interval). Jamie insisted on the 1:20 cycle and I was pleased we were successful. Its amazing what the body can do when you just push it a bit... This was after 5k in the morning- both Bob and Jamie had done 10k in the morning See more
22.01.2022 The next environmental flow state we will consider is Rich environments When youre in new, complex, dynamic or unpredictable environments, your focus and attention needs to be enhanced.

20.01.2022 Goals tell us how we are doing but getting immediate feedback tells us how to do it better. Instant feedback also aligns our awareness and attention when learning a new skill.
18.01.2022 The Challenges to Skills ratio is a core of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyis Flow theory too-challenging task can make us feel anxious, overwhelmed and unequipped to face them. A task thats too simple, on the other hand, can induce boredom. To trigger flow, a goal should be halfway between these two extremes.
17.01.2022 Q: I feel rushed or pressed for time?
14.01.2022 The synonyms for flow are endless: peak experiences, being in the zone, runners high, unconscious competence, etc. Flow is something of a technical term. It emerged from psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyis early research into the state, where interview subjects consistently described the experience of flow as one where every decision, every action, flows seamlessly, perfectly, effortlessly, from the last in other words, the term flow is actually a phenomenological desc...ription of the experienceit describes how the state makes us feel. In short, flow feels flowy. Flow is a spectrum experience You can be in a state of micro-flow or a lighter version of the statelike what happens when you are watching a great movie, go for a walk in nature or fall into a great conversation at work and one great idea leads to the next great idea and you totally lose track of time and wow was that fun! Or you can experience a state of macro-flow, where all of those core characteristics show up so strongly that the experience itself takes on otherworldly, quasi-mystical qualitiesfor example, time slows to a crawl and you feel one with the universe. Often best experienced in extreme sports.
14.01.2022 Goal Clarity as a second psychological trigger for achieving flow in your performance. Numerous studies support the idea that the goal we are working towards must be unambiguous. This means the task at hand needs to be clearly understood so our minds can stay focused on the present moment and action. Rather than wondering what the next step might be...
11.01.2022 You need a variety of tools in life. As an example, I use a number of different styles in my freestyle stroke. In the pool I have speed (big kick) vs endurance. In the sea I use a surf stroke for a surf race vs my rotto pace for long distance endurance. You need to develop and then practice with a large tool bag of skills to enjoy and fullful your life...

09.01.2022 I often say "If you dont know where you are going then any road will take you there..." You need Goal Clarity; especially if you wish to achieve that elusive Flow performance state. When I am crystal clear on the outcome; when I have a strong vision of the end goal, the first steps are easy and begin to lay out in front of me. When I lack goal clarity; when I am fuzzy on the end result, the steps are confusing. Moreover, any obstacle will throw me off (and might just bring ...everything to a screeching halt). But there is something deeper here. Its not just about what you see as you visualize your goal. Its also what you feel. When we make decisions about our future we have a tendency to visualise the end result. We create a mental picture of the desired end state. But that desired end state is not what compels us. It is how we feel in that desired end state that makes the real difference.
09.01.2022 When we feel that when we are in control of our environment, then we feel that we have a far better chance of success. Not True. Some factors are simply uncontrollable. Deep embodiment is the solution where you are totally involved. Simplify the problem or challenge youre facing. Break it down into steps. Make the challenge easier than it. As you get through each step, you develop more belief you can get it done, then you will
09.01.2022 "Cant see the forest for the trees." An expression used when someone is too involved in the details of a problem to look at the situation as a whole. In new, complex and dynamic or unpredictable environments, our focus and attention are enhanced and we need to switch our attention and focus to accept the different information headed our way finding a way to keep actions clean and simple...
07.01.2022 The final environmental flow state we will consider is Deep embodiment Here, we are referring to total physical awareness. Succinctly, it relates in one way to our sense of control over our physical performance, and the link between this perceived control and goal achievement.

03.01.2022 In positive psychology, a flow state, also known as being in the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in ones sense of space and time. To find flow, another of the psychological triggers is achieving a balance between a high challenge and a high skill requirement ...
