24.01.2022 Alright, a little Cush rant... As most of you would be aware, from time to time, I like to speak my mind and give my 2c... A couple of weeks ago, I received this message (below) from a venue manager. I was polite in my response but unfortunately for them, booked for December and offered to send my availability for next year.... Now, this is becoming all too common...I notice they've seen my response but don't bother to send a reply. As a common courtesy, it would be nice to receive a reply but I guess I'm a little "old school" when it comes to that sort of thing. So instead of getting a simple response like "no probs" or "thanks Cush, yes please send through your availability", I just notice their little Facebook icon has dropped down, indicating they've read my message. I guess in a perfect world, by being fully booked, venues would think "Wow, this Cush bloke must by pretty good" and want to book future dates but looks like I just offend or piss these people off by being unavailable. Hang on, what's the word for it...? Ah that's right, it's called be Proactive! And yes, if you're reading this, I am fully booked for December. I don't just sit around brushing my luscious locks all day. I'm a full time musician, I don't have a day job, this is how I pay my rent. Lastly, a Big thank you to the venues, agents and private bookings for this year. It's been tough but looking forward to a full December and a HUGE year in 2021. Cush x

02.01.2022 Unfortunately, no gigs this weekend and no solo gigs until the 20th. Seems odd that Perth's venues are all open and I'm struggling to get regular solo work... I'd like to thank John at Starr Special Events Australia and the team at The Stirling Arms for having me back for a few Sunday Sesh gigs. And cheers to Matt and his team at Belvidere's Bar Bistro & Bottleshop for a couple of gigs since reopening.... It's obviously better than nothing to have had a few gigs hear n' there, I know! And I don't want to sound ungrateful, as I do have a Proud Mary gig next Sat, but my point is, I can't live off 3 or 4 gigs per month. Before Covid hit, I was gigging regularly 3, sometimes 4 nights per week! I fear that once this shit is over with, we'll never get back to the way things were for years to come. And Jobkeeper won't last forever! I also think I speak for a lot of artists out there when I say that my mental health and wellbeing has taken a rather severe hit. Personally, I'm dying of boredom at the moment and seriously thinking about getting a haircut and a real job! To my mates on the East Coast and overseas, I hope we can all find regular work and get back to normal sooner, rather than later because this fucking sux balls!
