25.01.2022 Mount Gambier's Women's Work Depot today celebrated 50 years of selling handmade and homebaked goods to the community.... The depot was started by a group of... local women as an outlet to sell their craft, art and cooking, while also raising money for charity. These days the depot still sells traditional favourites such as cakes, slices, knitted clothing and doilies. President and founding member Jayleen Dowdell said it was initially expected to last less than six months. "I think everyone is looking for something grandma used to make and you'll certainly get it here because it's my grandmother's recipes that I use," she said. 22.01.2022 'Take a moment, relax and enjoy' - @josh.lefevre. There's no better way to describe an experience at #UmpherstonSinkhole. As the temperature drops and we welco...me winter, you'll find us out exploring our sinkholes, caves and other geological wonders. The crisp air brings out the misty magic during the day. In the evening though, that's where those cosy fireplaces come in. @josh.lefevre | #WelcomeBackSA | http://ow.ly/4FT350zWmbA

22.01.2022 HUB UPDATE: Mount Gambier City Council held a confidential special council meeting on Wednesday July 1, 2020 to consider selection of a head contractor for the ...Community and Recreation Hub. Negotiations with the selected tenderer will now continue to enable Council to conclude the procurement process and secure the best value for the community before a contract is entered into. Council appreciates that the community is eager to receive an update on the Community and Recreation Hub and the tender evaluation team have been working hard over many months to ensure the procurement process is not compromised, City of Mount Gambier CEO Andrew Meddle said. Following the conclusion of the tender process and once a contract has been entered into, council will be in a position to provide the community with a thorough update regarding the project timeframes and cost. We thank the community for their patience as we have taken the necessary time to negotiate the tender process. The tender process has experienced inevitable delays caused by the scale and complexity of the project and further hindered by COVID-19.

19.01.2022 An extension to the staff carpark at the Mount Gambier Hospital will open from tomorrow, freeing up 64 spaces in the public... carpark that are currently being used by staff. Parking at the hospital has been a hot topic in the community for a number of years, with the new carpark resulting from collaborative work between a range of parties. Member for Mount Gambier Troy Bell MP praised those involved in making the upgrade happen, citing the good working relationships between the newly-formed Limestone Coast Local Health Network Governing Board with the Health Advisory Council and hospital staff as the reason for the project's timely completion. "This shows the real benefit of having a regional health board that's responsive to local comunity needs, working in with the Health Advisory Council as well. It's been a long-term frustration of many residents and to see it completed and done in a co-operative manner responding to local needs is a testament to all those involved." Health Advisory Council chair Maureen Klintberg said that it was a collaboration between multiple parties that has brought the project to fruition and spoke of the progress that has been made since the inception of the Local Health Network board. It has also been revealed that $11,000 will need to be spent to repair the sprinkler system on the grass are at the front of the hospital after it was damaged in November last year by visitors who removed a timber bollard and used the lawn area for parking.
