I am humbled and delighted to say that.....today is that day and 'Little Parakeet Bay is now theirs! I trust they will enjoy many an hour of pleasurable viewing http://paullucasart.com.au

22.01.2022 Back at my easel today.....adding the personal touch (boat) to Basile Island, at the Abrolhos Islands. This one is the same size as the original (2000 x 1000mm), however, other sizes are available. 21.01.2022 Due to COVID travel issues, finally...the 3 metre 'St George's Beach", Geraldton, is now delivered and hanging in our friends home. The owners are "in awe" of their acquisition! Aside from my joy of actually painting, I love this part...seeing their response when viewing their work for the first time after nine months of only photo and video updates. Priceless! It was neat to include the family (dog included) in this piece, knowing it's so personal and meaningful to them. Wh...at do you think? It can be tricky painting figures accurately, I'm fairly wrapt with the result. Thanks for being such cool people and a dream to work with guys and I hope this piece will bring years of viewing pleasure. BTW, I did notice a few more spare walls! I hope to hear from you again someday http://paullucasart.com.au/sold-artwork

21.01.2022 Thanks for your messages, texts and best wishes today. I was chuffed and really appreciate you all. I had a fantastic day celebrating my 65th birthday with our growing family

20.01.2022 'Little Parakeet Bay', Rottnest Island, continues...I am enjoying the challenge of working on this piece, particularly creating the form of the rocks and having the light shining across the water perfect. I usually establish a yellow ochre base coat when there is a lot of land involved and although it is painted over, I deliberately leave snippets of the base exposed. This adds to unify or tie the painting together, along with providing the foundation. This work will be slig...htly different from my usual subjects with the inclusion of figures on the beach still to come, enjoying the perfect weather and the beautiful location Rottnest Island is http://paullucasart.com.au

18.01.2022 The ‘Stone Jetty’, Big Rat Island, of the Abrolhos Islands is almost done! This work is 210 x 90cm and will be ready to hang. I found it quite challenging creating the transition from the darker blue and green hues of the deep water to the shallows of the fairway. After spending extra time on it, I am pleased with the results. The camps involved a fair bit of research, due to there being occasional upgrades and updated colours for them. I always endeavour to capture the detai...ls as accurately as possible knowing the fisherman will be across it I’ve been wanting to paint this subject for some time because of the nostalgic connections I’ve always had, having worked (many years ago) from this end of the island. While researching, I came across a few old photos (below) of some of the legends I worked for or along side http://paullucasart.com.au

17.01.2022 'North Island III' commission is complete :) This unique format (120 h x 50 w cm) was chosen as the perfect size for an entrance space in a beautifully renovated Perth home. The owners have said it looks great, as they await delivery. In this piece, I set out to capture depth, detail and colour which is not always easily to do in a smaller painting. I believe I've achieved my goal, being extremely happy with the end result. ... As I paint on a daily basis, I find I'm continually learning new techniques, some of which I have applied to this piece. Sometimes it's by pure accident and other times through sheer perseverance to achieve what I visualised in the original concept. http://paullucasart.com.au P.S. We will not be delivering any art for at least the next five days, however, are still taking orders and painting of course! Please PM, email ([email protected] or call me 0419 853 154. Stay safe everyone #satisfying #picture #photolike #technique

Details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/807862466696165 This composition includes Jackson, Lagoon and Rotondella Island of the Abrolhos Islands.... I enjoy my work and can easily get lost in it.....to see the original idea that’s in my head unfold in the canvas is always exciting for me. http://paullucasart.com.au

13.01.2022 ‘The Edge’ is taking on great shape and progression...I’m now preparing the underwater landscape prior to applying the surface ripples which will greatly enhance the overall lightening of this scene. Next step to follow will be the detailing of the jetties. This piece will be complete in a few weeks ready for my exhibition. Details: https://www.facebook.com/events/807862466696165... http://paullucasart.com.au

12.01.2022 'Stone Jetty', Big Rat Island is complete and 'Parakeet Bay' (Rottnest Island) is well underway. I hope you follow and enjoy the journey. On that note, thanks for your ongoing support, sharing etc - I do appreciate you Rottnest Island is such a popular and well known holiday destination in Western Australia. Having painted two Rotto works in the past nine months and selling them immediately to Perth art collectors, helped me decide to have another piece from this spot on the easel! My website (http://paullucasart.com.au) is updated with my available (and sold) original art, limited edition and open edition prints. Please email or PM with any enquiries.

11.01.2022 Happy 65th birthday Paul Lucas! We will celebrate you and your special day today! I am thankful you moved to Gero 43 years ago for one year (or so you though...t) to work at the Abrolhos Islands, but then we met each other and now I get to grow old with you You are my best friend, the best hubby, best father to our three sons and best poppy to six grandies and you’re not a bad artist and chef either I love and honour you #GodsPlan #blessed

10.01.2022 'Little Parakeet Bay', Rottnest Island, Western Australia, with more close up detail. Enjoy! 'Little Parakeet Bay', Rottnest Island, Western Australia, will be completed and available for purchase this weekend!... I always find Rottnest Island an interesting subject, with its many small bays and beautiful white beaches. Parakeet Bay is no exception to this! As Rotto is such a popular destination (for a day trip or longer), I felt it apt adding several figures to the composition. With conditions so perfect, it is hard to imagine not having beachgoers present The stairs on the left allow the viewer to enter the scene which is framed by the rocks on both sides of the piece, causing the viewer's eye to travel to the focal point being the peninsula and the island out on the horizon. *Size: 210 x 90cm *Medium: Oil on Canvas *Ready to Hang *Delivery: Free in Perth and some WA areas *Frame: Not necessary but can be arranged if preferred *Close up photos in the next post *Payment plan welcome For a private viewing or any questions re this piece, please PM me. http://paullucasart.com.au

10.01.2022 'The Edge', from the Abrolhos Islands off the WA coastline is underway. I love painting the edges of these coral outcrops - particularly they way they drop off into the dark, gloomy blues. This piece with have three islands represented: Jackson, Lagoon and Rotondella Islands, all part of the Southern Group.... These islands display magnificent coral and colours, I hope you'll enjoy viewing the progress http://paullucasart.com.au

08.01.2022 The 'Island Coral', (Abrolhos Islands) commission is taking me back once again. It's coming together and I'm capturing the blue/green hues exactly how it is. When you visit the Abrolhos, these colours have a habit of sticking with you forever. This particular piece will be one of those 'glassed off' days when you can see way down into those eerie depths. Next I'll be detailing the camps and jetties then continuing on to the staghorn and plate corals.... http://paullucasart.com.au/all-artwork #wip #hues #collection

07.01.2022 The Edge, (Abrolhos Islands), is my last work to complete before my exhibition, October 31. Details: https://www.facebook.com/events/807862466696165 My focus will then be stretching the recently ordered prints and preparing my 14 (original) works and print options to showcase. ... I really appreciate your support and am keen to see you soon http://paullucasart.com.au

06.01.2022 Sorry Gero friends...you would have heard the lockdown news....so we won’t be delivering to you tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted though.

05.01.2022 Another solid, productive week and 'The Edge'' is looking interesting. The daily progress is evident and I trust you will enjoy seeing it unfold The stag horn coral patches are growing and I'm excited about the hues in this whole piece, particularly due to the vibrant colours of the fisherman's camps and the colours you get on a reef edge like this one. Still a way to go though... At this point in the composition, I must decide between an oily calm surface or a choppy surfa...ce? http://paullucasart.com

05.01.2022 I posted the progress video of the 'Stone Jetty', Big Rat Island, earlier this week and now posting the progress photos, including close ups of the detail. It's taking shape nicely This work will soon be completed and exhibited in Geraldton, October 30. http://paullucasart.com.au

04.01.2022 ‘Little Parakeet Bay’ Rottnest Island, Western Australia, is such an excellent subject to work on and a beautiful place to see and I hope I can do it justice, once it’s complete It’s a challenge working with so many rocks in this piece and certainly keeping me focused. I love how the under light reflects back under the rocks from the warm sand. The next stage of this large work (210 x 90cm) once the sand is mastered, will be the addition of the beach goers and the foregroun...d shrubbery. I trust you are enjoying the process ...this piece should be complete mid to end of September. http://paullucasart.com.au
