25.01.2022 Metabolic adaptation is an amazing concept and when administered correctly can make significant inroads into a positive health and fitness existence. Check out @jaimee1906. Left photo on 1300 calories just before her prep was cancelled due to Covid earlier this year in March.... Fast forward to December and the right photo, only 4kg heavier and eating 2400 calories. She is stronger, fitter, healthier and mentally tougher then she has ever been. Her max hip thrust is 197kg so she is one strong tough cookie. 23.01.2022 I often joke with my clients that if I had a swear jar in my gym I’d be able to pay for several new pieces of equipment with the funds raised. All jokes aside I encourage swearing when my clients train. It means their passionate. It means their pushing.... It means they are trying. It means they are putting in effort. It means they are in ‘good’ pain. IMO swearing is colourful honesty. If you are training by design, focussed on what’s required and always chasing progression the odd swear word displays your effort and continued commitment to your goals. . . . A healthy approach is more about being consistent. Adequate protein .... Weight based training . Consistent caloric intake . Weekly routine . Good hydration . Adequate sleep hygiene . 12.01.2022 Body Recomposition is the way to change your physical appearance but also your knowledge and lifestyle around Health & Fitness. Here are some hard truths to a successful Body Recomposition transition. - You won’t always like the change of food but it’s not all about taste. What it does for your body and how it makes you feel is possibly more important.... - You need to train on more days then you have off. - When training you really need to push yourself. Going through the motions is not a worthwhile practise. - Make sure you not just doing but learning as well. Ask questions, learn why your doing what your doing. Education will provide you with great knowledge to be sustainable. - Some days you will be tired, some says you will be sore and some days you will be hungry. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. It’s not for ever. - One really great week won’t cut it. Two really good weeks won’t either. You have to be in it for the long haul and practise consistency. - Sacrifices do need to be made. This may mean cutting out alcohol, eating less take away and putting the chocolate back. How bad do you want it? - This need to be a lifestyle shift not just an 8 week challenge if you want the results to be sustainable. 09.01.2022 Are you currently sitting on 1200 calories and not losing weight? Do you feel your doing everything right without success? Metabolic adaptation is a process whereby your metabolism performance is improved over time where calories are slowly increased to ensure your body functions optimally.... It’s like slowly putting more timber into he fire to get a bigger flame. This may mean slight weight gain but with a higher caloric intake you have somewhere to go should you need to reduce your calories and undertake a cut. This forms a healthy weight loss process and a much better and stronger starting point. At 1200 calories there is much more room to go. At 1800 calories (for example) there is room. So why diet on 1200 when through a strategic process you can eat more, diet smarter and be much much healthier. A person can begin a training session negative, down, sad etc but through positive language, be it words or behaviour, by the end of the day they could be having the best day! Even when the coach is struggling themselves with positivity, the good coaches always turn it on for their clients ensuring the best experience possible is provided.... This is what separates average coaches from the really good ones. This same technique can be applied across many situations in life. The more positive you are, the more positive people you surround yourself with.....guess what it tends to rub off and your existence will be much more positive. And isn’t that the goal for life? Having a happy existence? A life of content, positivity and good memories? Always focus on the positives. 06.01.2022 I’ve been so busy of late I completely missed my two year gym anniversary. It was two years ago plus a few days, we made the big move and took that massive risk to go out on our own and create a training facility for the people. My clients have been the ones that inspired the creation of this facility and it’s evolution to this point.... This facility is built on community engagement, positive culture and achieving results through evidence based training and having no excuses. When I started my health and fitness career 6 years ago, I did not foresee myself in this position now. However with amazing support around me and consistently hard work anything is possible.
