20.01.2022 On beauty -a story Many years ago, longer than I want to admit sometimes, I played French Horn. As I improved I idolised the best players old and new and saw the beauty in their playing started to copy the beauty I saw there and as I improved I saw the inadequacies of my current instrument...no matter how much I oiled those valves the wouldn’t move faster, it was heavy and starting to wear. So I checked out some horns my teachers were playing and saw the beauty in those instr...uments and the speed and response and wonderful sound & the care that goes into the design of a great horn. I went to an open day of Alexander French Horns, I still remember it like yesterday..,lots of advanced student and pros trying out those stunning instruments looking for an instrument which they feel connected with that feels like an extension of themselves, responding to every nuance of intonation, dynamics, phrasing and wonderful to look at with the lacquered silver and gold/yellow lacquered brass. Some no doubt went away with a new horn, re-invigorated and inspired to create music.
