25.01.2022 Thank you all so much for sharing and caring. The latest update from Kai & Tamara Linke is at this link. Thank you all so very much.

19.01.2022 We have been blessed to receive help with temporary on-site housing until we can rebuild. Whilst not a home, it means we can spend more time at the sanctuary with the animals we care for. It also means our dogs can return to likely the only home they know. We can save time & fuel travelling to & from our home, and home.. yes that makes no sense to me either. But I am sure you understand the fragility of our situation.

19.01.2022 It’s been such a pleasure having Bev here with us. Thanks so much

18.01.2022 Not the best photos, but this is what we have been doing this weekend. Getting the front fence fixed. Special thanks to John & Michelle for use of tractors & their son William for being such a huge help. Without John & Will we don’t know what we’d do.

16.01.2022 How good does this look. Wire went on today thanks to BlazeAid. Paul is stapling on the top wires. John is feeding sheep & fetching gates. Michelle is pulling the wire strainer off the fence & then will start stapling too. Almost there. One paddock will be finished.. a km or so out of 25km to be done.

15.01.2022 We had this delivery arrive today. Thanks KI Kennels and Fodder for delivering. Thanks RSPCA for the donation. It is much needed for our animals & the wildlife we are feeding. Today was a busy one for us, numerous volunteers dropping in to help us out. Putting in hours of work. Our wonderful friends Craig & Fiona have spent the past week or more rebuilding enclosures & aviaries for us . Such wonderful people with huge hearts. They are truly animal lovers that care deeply for... their friends. We’d like to thank all that have helped, at such a hard time in our lives. If you’d like to help us you can click on the GoFundMe that our brother Kai Linke has set up for us. This fund will help us rebuild, feed the animals and make the next few months less stressful. We have always done this ourselves and it is really hard for us to ask for help, but we also know that the people who love and care for us would like to help. We love and trust Kai and know he will take care of us and do the right thing by us. Help him to help us. Thanks so very much for all you love & support.

14.01.2022 We had a delivery yesterday for the farm. A little hay for the animals & some bean straw for the cattle. Also some donated bags of feed from wonderful people via John & Michelle. We don’t have a photo but fantastic news that the wandering emu wandered home on its own. Paul & Co spent days combing the Stokes Bay Area worried about the burns it suffered. But on inspection discovered that the burns are now minor and healing well without human intervention. Paul decided rather than cause more trauma, just to leave it alone for now. Nature can be cruel & kind. The remainder of feed on the ute & trailer went to Waves & Wildlife for the refugee kangas & usual kanga crew.

14.01.2022 And this is happening in Adelaide. Brother (Katja Linke’s) Kai & many helpers are dismantling this factory. Kindly donated for use by us &/or sale for rebuilding funds for the sanctuary enclosures. They’ve spent their time off helping us. We appreciate their persistence & kindness. This is so overwhelming. I’m sure Kai will put details on the GoFundMe thingy... so check that out (pinned to the top of the page) for more details. Thank you all for your love & concern. We will be ok. Every day it’s still so raw & so heartbreaking. But we will get there eventually.

14.01.2022 Its been a long time since we posted anything. In the past few months we have continued with help to repair aviaries, kangaroo enclosures, feeding and caring for our animals each day. As well Paul has had a lot of fencing to replace as all boundary fencing was damaged or destroyed in the fires. I believe something like 30kms of fencing. The photos are to show some of the terrain they have to deal with to contain the stock. Its certainly not easy. BlazeAid have helped as well... as visitors and good friends. We won't start naming them in fear of missing someone and there as just so many the list is long. It is still a long road to recovery. We have had a few losses. Some of our beloved animals have crossed the rainbow bridge. At this time we can't bring ourselves to say more than that. We are all very cautious with the current Covid-19 danger. We think we are very lucky to be here isolated on beautiful Kangaroo Island. Even after such devastation it holds so much beauty. You can see the trees are still scorched, but the green shows through. If you look closely in the first photo you can see Paul and friend stapling the wire to the posts. It was just a little too much for Paul to do on his own. The ash is still laying on the ground and when wet makes it very slick. Both John & Paul almost went a$$ up navigating the steep slope. With the year 2020 more than half over let's look toward a bright future. Thanks to all that have given, money-wise, time-wise, emotional-wise. We are very thankful.

14.01.2022 Yesterday in the midst of deliveries, working bees and such we had two lovely ladies come all the way from Balaklava. This vehicle was packed to the eyeballs with donations. They also bought a beautiful card with messages of love from their community. They were only over for the day. Stayed long enough to give donated goods, see Paul call the roos in at Stokes Bay and then head back to the ferry for a long drive home.

12.01.2022 Paul is so happy. Some of the animals we thought had perished in the fire are slowly returning to their shelter in the 10acre enclosure. Much is burnt but Paul will check these animals and get them medical treatment ASAP. These animals are ones that we have cared for and soft released into a safe place where they won’t be shot at. This is a huge relief for us.

10.01.2022 The other way you can help us is by helping Kangaroo Island. Contact some of these businesses to keep our island alive. This group was set up by our friend. https://www.facebook.com/groups/503932583592744/

09.01.2022 We would like to thank the people that made possible this delivery. It was facilitated by Mark. Paul says it must be worth about $10,000. Some of this went to Will Marshall also who was very happy to get some extra feed in his shed. The hay went into the stables so that it was undercover, as did the bags of feed. We are very appreciative of all donations of feed for the wildlife. We are now sorting out feed for our farm animals and rescue horses. Mainly due to the lack of storage space available that is rodent-proof we have asked for nothing more to be delivered by Mark or anyone until after this weekend. Brother Kai has organised delivery of shelving and pallet racking so we can be neat, organised plus mouse & weather proof.

09.01.2022 Thanks to some well meaning people some of our injured animals were let out of the enclosure where they were awaiting arrival of the vet. Unfortunately one emu still hasn’t returned. It was spotted today but by the time we arrived to catch it it’d wandered off again. If it is spotted can you please phone Michelle M Barrett on 8553 9032 or message us. It’s urgent that we get it back to safety. Last seen at 3972 North Coast Road Stokes Bay.

08.01.2022 At the end of today all posts in. All box sections done. Ready for the cyclone to go on the next chance we get. A huge busy weekend, but also spent with wonderful friends new & old. Craig & Fiona from Whyalla you guys are absolute legends. John & Will thanks for all you do. Paul is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. And with a bro-in-law like Kai we are blessed.

08.01.2022 A huge thank you to Island Care & Catherine Kewley for the donation of fruit & vegetables. The wild kangaroos are just so happy. With the recent & ongoing fires they are looking for any food, but they love fruit & veg.

08.01.2022 Check out this group, check out this voucher book. Help us support KI. We bought 2 of these books.. I think we saved them from the fire as they live in my handbag.

07.01.2022 This is our dearest eldest daughter Poppy. She is the light of our life. And at 16 she lost her whole world. She has dusted herself off, got herself a job & whilst doing year 11 has proven she’s a fighter and we are very proud of her. We love you very much Poppy

06.01.2022 Paul is very happy again. He has been treating this emu for burns since the fire. It’s finally standing well & moving around. Here is Sunny giving it a hug. She too loves all animals. On the road to recovery.

03.01.2022 A quick shout out to Rosalie Crowder & Andy Keach. They sent over a truck load of hay for us. Unfortunately we couldn't get a good picture of the unloading as it was all done in the dark. But here is a photo of the stack and the animals enjoying a feed. We are very careful when we get donations to feed it to the animals specified in the donation. So hay donated for wildlife is only fed to wildlife, hay for stock is only fed to stock. If it isn't specified we will give to whoever is needing it most. Our rescue horses and Alice the camel miss out on many donations, but they don't miss out altogether. Thank you Rosalie & Andy.

03.01.2022 This is Kai, Kai Linke is awesome. He has just arrived with all the pallet racking, shelving & fencing panels we need to get our storage of feed sorted & organised. Tomorrow is unloading, setting up and preparing for the big delivery coming Saturday. Michelle at KI Kennels & Fodder has been holding approximately 2 tonne of animal feed of for us until we were ready. We feel so loved by close friends & family.
