14.01.2022 This is a song I was asked to write by someone who has become a very dear friend of mine after our paths crossed four years ago because of our mutual love of mu...sic. Many of you know my song "Winter Bear". I'm still so honoured to receive messages from bereaved parents about the song and what it means to them and their families. For those who have read the story of "Winter Bear" you also know "Grandpa", the one who asked me to help him write the song for his Grandson. Well, Grandpa's name is Ad. I was welcomed into the family and we continue to stay in touch and catch up whenever I am passing through their corner of the world. I like to reflect on the stories and reasons that certain people come into your life and this family will always be very close to my heart. In February this year, Ad suffered a stroke. He was in Cape Town at the time, where he and his wife live half of each year. This was an incredibly difficult time for Ad - physically and emotionally. He is lucky to have made it back home to Holland and is slowly but surely working towards recovery. Ad contacted me wanting to write a song for his incredible friends and family who supported him, who loved him, who showed up to be there for him during this time. He emailed me some poetry he had written, some beautiful words, and we talked about what he wanted to get across in the song. The recurring theme of getting one phone call that can change everything was what I based the song around. This is what I wrote for Ad - we hope you love it. Ad- you are such an inspiring, positive, loving person. I miss you, Marjo and the entire family and look forward to the next time we can all finally dance together again at the NSJ fest Love Coby xx YOUTUBE LINK: https://youtu.be/QGPxtzncqSA Filmed and Edited by Halves and Quarters @https://www.halvesandquarters.com/ Video featuring Angus Dawson and Ellen Duhig Vocals, guitar and cello recorded at Pavement Studios in Perth Australia Keys recorded and track mixed at Okapi Studios in Rotterdam, Holland by Jack van de Ven.
