25.01.2022 in my humble opinion Just wanted to encourage all the songwriters, producers and musicians out there. Please forget the politics, stands on either side, what you think is fact about whether things could have been done differently or not ........... Yes, times are tough, we are financially hurting, live music scene/gigs has changed and may have for a long time, isolation is hard for many creatives (as has our production future for those)....but .....think.... MOST of you are healthy ...or as healthy as you would be if this hadn't happened (thoughts and prayers for those COVID affected) Most of you will see and hug family and friends again soon if not already Most will be able to jam with band mates etc in the not too distant future if they aren't already. Regardless of all the issues with it..thank goodness we have internet and can keep in touch (imagine living thru this pre 1994). Then think for a moment..reality check... .MOST who read this havent lived through real wars, most aren't living in real life fear of chance of violent death or life threatening oppression (lockdown stage 4 isn't even close don't kid yourselves).... MOST aren't living in conditions that even come close to rival the ghettos of Kibera or the refugee camps of Katupalong or Yida with no hope, chance of an end or a possible way out in the future. Have you? At the same time..... most if not all (even there) have not lost the ability to create, play or listen to music! So here is my thought...forget the overly negative opinions, views or attacks from behind the faceless computer screen..forget the politics until the election....if you have a rational argument state it but don't dwell on things you can't change .......it's only your stress and health levels that are being affected by your whirlpool of emotions......why???? YOUR SOCIETY, YOUR CITY & country NEEDS you now more than ever ...but they need you to be productive, be positive and DO THAT THING YOU DO BEST! MUSIC! Created music, finished music or music ready for someone else to drop in ..music!!!! New music on the radio or refreshed old music or??? Why???? Its a fact...The only reason people buy or listen to music

23.01.2022 To all family, friends and music industry colleagues here and overseas - have a very merry Christmas however you celebrate it (or allowed)...importantly, stay well, safe, love those dear to you (whether close or far) and be mindful of those less fortunate, hurting or lonely during this time. Blessings and best wishes

17.01.2022 An article of interest to music industry participants...even though talking the big acts, there is a trickle down effect. Taking the time to explore how you can continue/start/adapt and utilise ideas as part of your ongoing acrivity will not be wasted https://themusicnetwork.com/2020-live-music-changes/ #musicindustrytips #futureofmusic #musicmentor #musicindustrymentor

16.01.2022 This might be of interest to those who found the Pav's Ponderings YouTube Channel session musicians video relevant https://podcasts.apple.com//the-sideman-chron/id1509771325 Some insight into the Nashville session muso scene

16.01.2022 Having just had the news of a previous recording client and friend in the US die of the carona virus very quickly after catching symptoms - and his friend he caught it off only having a mild sniffles before testing and diagnosed as positve - --it made me think of how easily it is being transmitted - and the protection of those friends and acquaintences who are/will be at some stage returning to gigging and those going to studios to record etc First thoughts to be of help- ...- 1. If you are a gigging lead or backing singer who in the past has just used the house microphones at gigs/venues - I would be definitely saving to purchase your own microphone to use for the foreseeable future (sharing a mike seems asking for trouble as some venues have had questionable cleaning practices between singers in the past let alone now) 2. I would suggest that extends to those who are in church worship, choir or other settings where there are close vocal shared microphones as well. 3. I have just ordered a number of pop screens and stronger alcohol based cleaner for my studio so I can have time to thoughly clean and sanatise pop filters between clients once the studio reopens if/when going in to studios in the near future - make sure you check what are their safety cleaning procedures for vocal set ups you will be using (on the understanding not everyone can bring buy their own high quality condenser microphone to a use at studio sessions - however, if have one that works well with your voice (\I'd be taking that as an option) CONSIDER other hard contacts you may come into contact with as commence back into activity and ensure your personal safety - remember your throat, breathing etc are part of your instrument and livelihood as a vocalist or wind/brass instrumentalist Anyway thought it was worth the post

15.01.2022 Marketing/production hat on... Do you know what 'metadata' is in your recorded tracks? If not Google it (too long for here).. because the real question is .... Are you comfortable using it and including enough metadata in your track information when loading to different sites, streaming etc? (directly in your MP3 & AIFF etc files and linked in wavs ). If not, IMHO, it is critical you get comfortable and include a reasonable amount of data in all your tracks asap. Critical ...to ensure payment of future royalties (eg ISRC codes for tracking $$ from overseas), tracking or if someone wants to contact you (eg music they like on a random playlist). The discussion in the link below, while a bit wordy & techy at times (google any words don't know) is important as its giving information about what could/will be included in metadata in the future with streaming, live streaming etc with some DSPs as soon as early next year. By being prepared and ready (setting up spreadsheets or other methods of keeping info ready to copy/paste etc)....you can be ready to up date & take advantage when implemented https://www.synchtank.com//a-metadata-with-destiny-the-ne/

13.01.2022 Talk about dedication. Martin Molin is next level.

12.01.2022 So for live musicians ...even if we could get there ..grrrr https://theindustryobserver.thebrag.com/us-hikes-touring-v/

05.01.2022 just a quick thought (excuse the rough video) for those who are live gigging musicians on an idea i had that might help viability.... as the chance of doing gigs again has started or will start in the not too distant future.

03.01.2022 Great having this bunch in the studio recording songs for their new show as they stayed at the bnb rehearsing. Great work ethic, and lots of laughs to boot. If you are having a kids (any age) event .... 03.01.2022 For those with an interest in Spotify..the thinking behind the CEO (esp.the music makers ) https://theindustryobserver.thebrag.com/spotify-daniel-ek-/

01.01.2022 I don’t know if the audience really understands how dire the situation is for millions of hard-working arts professionals. Broadway is closed until 2021, 6 West... End venues THINK they can open at the moment. Cirque du Soleil is filing for bankruptcy and cut 3500+ jobs. Feld Entertainment laid off 90% of its workforce permanently. Live Nation had to lay off a significant amount of employees. Cruise ship entertainers are out of work. Theme park productions have no idea when they will be recalled. There are no concerts, festivals or touring productions scheduled until 2021 and if they don’t happen next year, they may never happen again. No Jazz Fest, no Coachella, no Bonnaroo, no EDC, no Glastonbury, no Download, no ROLLING STONES FINAL TOUR(S), no ballet, no opera....all gone. It’s being predicted that 90% of independent music venues may close, the longer this continues. No more 1st Ave, Whiskey-a-GoGo, no more Tipitina’s, no more Red Rocks, no more CroBar, all gone. Entertainment Management, Publicity, Live events coordinator, Performing arts organizations of all kinds- choirs, theatres, orchestras, dance companies- all are trying to figure out on a daily basis how to keep going and employ anyone they can in the field. More than 12,000,000 people work entertainment production, we are not insignificant and this industry cannot reopen until mass gatherings can happen again. This doesn’t include the additional layoff of venue management and bar staff, security and thousands of vendors. Also, we can’t forget about the hundreds of thousands of performers and entertainers that make these careers possible, without them, there is no show. So when you see your entertainment friends and or posts begging you to wear masks and stay home, understand that we are helplessly watching our industry crumble before our eyes because the country is doing so poorly at reducing the spread. This IS personal for us, our livelihood is dependent on social gathering and we will not accept being labeled nonessential. Music and art are critical to a cheerful, balanced society. Everyone’s career and the whole industry is indefinitely on hold. PLEASE wear your mask (over your mouth AND your nose) and wash your hands.(this is not a Gov ploy to control you, the health experts have said it, LISTEN TO THEM) Thanks to Darren Russell for the post Gratefully copied. Feel free to do the same See more
