25.01.2022 Some interesting scientific research. At Paw & Order Noosa, we base our coaching methods on scientific data. It is fantastic to be able to debunk some older, not so dog friendly training methods. Only kind, positive reinforcement happening here. Oh and the good news, it works. #positivereinforcementdogtraining #caninecommunication #debunkingdogmyths #bekind #dogbehaviourcoachnoosa #dogsofnoosa

24.01.2022 Some wonderful dog manners in this clip. #keetahburton digging...a natural dog behaviour that is stimulating to the brain yet calming at the same time. Then her new friend inviting her to play, watch the play bow. Keetah is great at sharing so no resource guarding here. Some lovely chase and be chased with short breaks to reassess. When you understand some #dogbodylanguage and #caninecommunication it is fascinating to watch dogs at play. #letdogsdig #dogplay #understandyourdog #marcusbeachdogs #castawaysbeachdogs #canineenrichment #dogsofnoosa #noosadogbehaviourcoach #noosadogbehaviourspecialist

23.01.2022 What do Canine Coaches do when it is their own dogs birthday? Have a party of course. No training this day. My girl #KeetahBurton had a bunch of friends over, they played chase, wrestle, tug and even open the parcel. Of course there was cake! Thank you #noosadogcakes the dogs all loved the cake. Thank you to all of Keetahs human friends too for the wonderful presents #dogbirthdayparty #dogsofnoosa #dogbehaviourcoach #buylocalnoosa

22.01.2022 It's all about balance

21.01.2022 Oakley is coming along so well! His family were a bit worried about his reactivity to other dogs on walks. We have been working on Oakleys confidence and today he even met an off leash dog and kept his cool well done Oakley you are a star #canine communication #positivereinforcement #reactivedogs #anxiousdogs #leashfrustration #noosadogcoach #happyhoundhappyhome

21.01.2022 Did you know that puppies have a critical socialisation period between 3 and 12 weeks. But you can’t take your puppy out until they are fully vaccinated.? Little Wolfe here has great humans who want him to grow up to be a happy and well balanced dog. Besides going to puppy school they have employed me to visit every 2 weeks. Wolfe’s humans have done everything I recommend and this little guy is already such a star . It makes sense to start the right way rather than trying to ‘fix’ problem behaviour later. @the_wolfe_gang . #puppyprogram #caninebehaviour #dogbehaviour #noosadogcoach #canineenrichment #dalmations #dalmationsofinstagram #sunshinecoastdalmations #dogsofnoosa #sunshinecoastdogs #happyhoundhappyhome

20.01.2022 The latest members of the Paw & Order Noosa family. Snoop and Sasha are adorable Cocker Spaniel x Cavalier spaniels. We are working on normal behaviour modifications such as recall, staying off the human bed and not giving the bush turkey’s a hard time. I have to give the most cuddly dog award to Snoop who spent a great deal of the session asleep on my lap #behaviourmodification #positivereinforcement #noosadogcoach #dogbehavior #canineenrichment #caninecommunication #dogsofinstagram #dogsofnoosa #cockerspanielsofinstagram #cavalierkingcharlesspanielsofinstagram

20.01.2022 We can’t expect dogs to come into our homes and know how to behave. Dogs behave like dogs and not humans. If you don’t like dog behaviour don’t get a dog! First we need to learn how dogs communicate, then instead of yelling and punishing the behaviours you don’t like, teach them a behaviour you do like instead. Simple! You might need me to show you though. Investing in a dog behaviour coach is really worthwhile, giving you and your family a peaceful and rewarding relationship with your dog. #happyhoundhappyhome #caninecommunication #dogbehaviourcoachnoosa #dogbodylanguage #canineconversation #dogdialogue #dogbehaviourmodification #dogsofnoosa

20.01.2022 I just love a head tilt. Daisy just melts my heart when she is not quite sure what I am asking her to do. Daisy’s Mum has asked me to help Daisy not be so excited at the door. We had huge success today just by asking Daisy to play a find it game rather than run around aimless barking. I think that Daisy is thankful for her alternative behaviour too. All that excitement is exhausting #dogbehaviormodification #caninecommunication #noosadogcoach #canineenrichment #happyhoundhappyhome

19.01.2022 So today Kozi has had a HUGE breakthrough. A couple of months ago Kozi would put her tail between her legs and shiver in the furtherest recess of the back yard when I would arrive. With a lot of patience, treats, love and time Kozi actually came up to me and took a treat from my hand today. So proud of this very brave girl and her human for doing everything I have taught her to make this possible. I don’t have a magic wand but I can work magic with a bit of time and love. #reactivedogs #kooliesofinstagram #noosadogcoach #dogsofnoosa #positivereinforcement #caninecommunication #dogbehaviour #fearfuldogsofinstagram

16.01.2022 Meet Alfie, our newest member. This beautiful Golden Retriever has an issue with resource guarding, he gets a bit too excited sometimes with the kids and oh he really does not like when his Mum invites entire male dogs over to play. Alfie and I are working on self settling, learning how to share and focus so he doesn’t have to worry about visitors. #noosadogcoach #canine communication #dogbehaviormodification #positivereinforcement #canineenrichment #happyhoundhappyhome #resourceguarding

16.01.2022 The latest additions to my growing Paw & Order Noosa family. Kiwi is a 2 year old Amstaff and Roo is a 10 week old Mastiff x Amstaff. These guys are the sweetest dogs and truly dismiss the stigma around these breeds. These lucky pups have very dedicated and loving humans which goes a long way in the development of balanced and happy pups. I am really looking forward to working with these cuties. #amstaff #bullybreeds #noosadogcoach #caninecommunication #canineenrichment #dogsofnoosa #dogbehaviour #dogmyths

16.01.2022 Hi I’m Peanut and I get really excited when visitors arrive or I hear a car door or dogs barking and best of all I love to bark at that pesky postman. Jo is showing me that if I stay on my bed and don’t bark I get yummy treats. Sometimes Jo moves too far away and I forget what I am supposed to do but then Jo just walks back and I make my own decision to go to my bed. I’m so proud of myself.

14.01.2022 Hi Pepe here, I am a 9 year old Jug (PugxJack Russell) My family called Jo because I was a bit grumpy. The kids scare me, they run and yell and I’m worried they might hurt me. I really don’t like to be picked up either and Jo said that this is OK not all dogs are snuggly. Jo brought some enrichment activities over for me like this #snufflemat from @pebbles_and_paws and a #lickmat to eat my dinner from. I really love the snuffle mat (hint hint Mum) they calm me down and keep me busy so I’m not worried about what is going on around me.

14.01.2022 Everything starts from understanding body language

13.01.2022 Just chilling with my girl #KeetahBurton. #lakeweyba swimming, digging, finding chairs, climbing and balancing on logs and best of all playing with other dogs #caninecommunication #canineenrichment #noosadogcoach

13.01.2022 If you buy a puppy and do not personally visit the breeder you could be responsible for this

12.01.2022 By its very nature it's proven. It's really that simple

10.01.2022 No head patting or hand sticking please

09.01.2022 Rocki has my such a sweet, energetic, loving and clever boy. He loves his Mum sooo much that he gets super scared when she leaves him alone. She can’t even put petrol in her car without him crying for her from inside the car. Today we showed Rocki there are other things to do while Mum is out if his sight. He is doing well because his devoted Mum does her homework between my visits. #separationanxiety #caninecommunication #dogbehaviour #noosadogcoach #happyhoundhappyhome

09.01.2022 Moderator #MeetTheirNeeds Knowing your dog's breed(s) can be helpful in understanding their drive to perform certain behaviours (like digging for example). It ...can also help you change your thinking from, "They're being naughty" to "They're trying to meet their own needs" which then puts us in a better position to facilitate the meeting of those needs through appropriate outlets (build a dig pit ). When you start to see behaviours as normal and appropriate for dogs and not as an affront to you, you can begin to think creatively and work with your dog in a mutually agreeable way rather than as adversaries constantly trying to "correct" them. In Force Free Training there is a concept around satiety. The idea is to provide as many appropriate outlets for your dog to practice a biologically or evolutionarily normal behaviour within controlled and safe boundaries that fulfills their drive and 'satiates' that need so that they do not independently go seeking out opportunities to practice this behaviour, potentially in ways that you would not appreciate. Lots of digging in a dig pit, bury toys and treats, go to the beach and let them dig, take them to the woods and let them dig! The idea is that they then will not be trying to dig in your flower bed. Of course, some management will be required as well, so block access to your flower bed (at least at first) and be sure to make digging elsewhere highly reinforcing. This same concept can be applied to chewing, running, barking, chasing and so on... Understanding your dog's needs begins with knowing what those needs are, then get creative and meet those needs! Thank you Canine Principles for the inspiration.

08.01.2022 As many households prepare their gardens for spring, we have noticed a significant increase in calls to the Animal Poisons Helpline regarding fertiliser ingesti...on. Fertilisers are available in a diverse range of formulations. Inorganic fertilisers tend to contain varying but generally high quantities of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium; as well as trace elements which are tailored to suit specific purposes. Whilst a small lick or taste is unlikely to cause significant poisoning, large ingestions can potentially result in severe effects. Organic fertilisers contain lower concentrations of these minerals. They are often made of different types of manures, blood, bone and other meals and as such are highly attractive to dogs. If dogs are allowed access to organic fertiliser packaging, it is not unusual for them to ingest very large quantities. Ingestion of organic fertilisers can result in severe gastroenteritis, possibly pancreatitis and gastrointestinal obstruction. As you prepare your garden for the warmer months ahead, take a moment to consider your pets: Never allow pets access to fertiliser containers or packaging. Keep in mind that dogs find organic fertilisers highly appetizing and will readily chew through packaging, so they need to be stored out of reach. Apply fertiliser as per the manufacturer’s recommendations (do not use excessive amounts) Water in fertiliser after application where possible - this is especially true for areas with chickens since they are very effective at picking up granules that have dropped to lower soil areas Avoid using organic fertiliser around spring bulbs (dogs will dig up the organic fertiliser and will often find these bulbs and eat them!) If you think your pet has ingested fertiliser, call us on 1300 869 738 (AU) or 0800 869 738 (NZ) for a tailored risk assessment and recommendation, including first aid measures. Our service is free for all pet owners and has assisted over 5,000 accidentally poisoned pets so far this year. You can save a pet’s life by keeping this critical service free. Please visit animalpoisons.com.au/support to learn about ways you can support the service.

08.01.2022 Don’t mind working on a Sunday when my client is as cute Frankie. This 11 week old Cocker Spaniel is adorable. Frankies parents have asked me to show them how to give Frankie the best possible start to life. 07.01.2022 Some of the awesome pups I worked with this week. Seeing dogs become more confident, more relaxed, happier and most of all understood fills my heart the look of relief and sheer joy when a dog realises you get it. Dogs try so hard to please us. To achieve peace and harmony in the home we need to learn what dogs are trying to communicate to us. Learn another language! Your dog will really love you for it. #caninecommunication #caninecommitment #noosadogcoach #understandingdogs #dogbehaviour #dogbodylanguage #speakdog #happyhoundhappyhome #sunshinecoastdogtrainers #positivereinforcementdogtraining #sciencebaseddogtraining

02.01.2022 Newest and youngest Paw& Order Noosa squad member. Wolf is a 9 week old Dalmatian. His humans wanted the best advice on helping Wolf navigate his way in his new world. Wolf has the cutest heart shaped nose and the most adorable hiccups have ever heard.

01.01.2022 Sweet Oakley was a bit reactive to other dogs on leash. In the dog world, face to face meetings are considered confrontational and rude. When a dog is on leash they feel like their option to flee an uncomfortable situation is removed so they instinctively choose aggressive looking behaviours to communicate their distress. Here Oakley is quite happily focused on his human as other dogs pass him. We created distance and do not allow on leash greetings. This as well as lots of sniffing and treats makes Oakley a happy boy. This gorgeous pup and his humans are doing a great job. #caninecommunication #noosadogcoach #dogbehavior #leashaggression #labradoodlesofinstagram #labradoodlesofsunshinecoast happyhoundhappyhome #noosariver #sniffwalks #reactivedogs
