17.01.2022 Hi everyone!! We will be closed on Christmas Day this year. ... SUMMER SAFETY CHECKLIST - Paws & Pavements. Please be mindful of hot surfaces and your pets paws. Pavements, Sand, Farm vehicles and other surfaces become extremely hot even when they are not in direct sunlight. We recommend people to walk their dogs early in the morning, or later in the evening, and to use heatproof matting on farm vehicles. - Car Safety. Please don’t leave pets in cars unattended, for any amount of time. Cars heat up to extreme temperatures in minutes and the separation anxiety a lot of dogs go through can contribute to an increase in body temperature. Tragedy can and does occur in minutes. If you have a friendly smaller dog that you can carry, take them with you! I take my boy into the chemist, supermarkets, bakery’s, thrift shops etc. We recommend people to leave their dogs at home, somewhere well ventilated, cool and with plenty of fresh cool water - Preventatives. It is a good idea to double check your pets vaccinations, and to make sure worming, tick and flea treatments are up to date and current. (And don’t forget pet friendly sunscreen!!) - Avoiding Heatstroke Always ensure your pet is in a well ventilated and cool space with access to plenty of fresh water, pets should also be checked regularly and water be replaced as it’s consumed. Never leave pets unattended around swimming pools or for long periods of time.
