23.01.2022 How many puppies can you see? These little guys came for a visit recently for their vaccinations and microchips. They were very brave
23.01.2022 Meet Kobi! Kobi is one of our nurses dogs, he came for a visit yesterday with very sore ears. With some sedation on board we had a good look and found grass seeds, and bits of grass, in both ears! A short anaesthetic and they were successfully removed. Kobi is now doing well at home and far more comfortable, even though he isn't liking his ear drops. ... We couldn't pass up the opportunity to share with you guys as a reminder that it's the season for grass seeds! The sneaky little things get stuck in fur, ears, noses - even eyes! Or like the other patient photo here, in their mouth. It's important to check your dogs regularly, paying special attention to ears, tails, paws and armpits
22.01.2022 Meet Charlie! Charlie came to visit us today to investigate the cause of some unusual discomfort, he was a star patient and we all enjoyed his company!
22.01.2022 Meet Zion! Zion came to visit us today feeling a bit under the weather, but he still loves being our desk assistant!
21.01.2022 When you visit for a routine health appointment and vaccination with your cat, we will ask you whether or not they are allowed outside. There are a few reasons why this is important, but when were thinking about vaccinations were wanting to know how at risk your cat is for FIV. FIV is a virus that is most commonly transmitted through cat fight wounds, something that is pretty common in outside cats. It weakens their immune system, making them far more susceptible to other... illnesses. FIV positive cats often wont show symptoms for a long period of time, the good news though is that we can determine the FIV status of at risk cats with a blood test. If your cat is allowed outside, we recommend a full F5 + FIV vaccination to make sure theyre as protected as possible.
21.01.2022 Happy story for your Friday afternoon This little girl got lost yesterday and wandered onto a building site. She was picked up by one of the tradies who brought her in to us. Thankfully she is microchipped! ... I was able to call her family and she went home straight away, none the worse for wear These happy ending are a great reminder of how important it is to make sure your pets are microchipped and the details are kept up to date.
21.01.2022 August is dental month! Dental care is so important for your pets overall health but lets be honest, who actually looks at their pets teeth frequently? We will always check your pets teeth at their check up, but its a good idea to be aware of them at home too.... If you notice that your pets teeth are discolours, or that their breath is a bit smelly - its time to come in for a dental check
20.01.2022 Important information! Ehrlichiosis has been detected in WA. It is a tick borne illness transmitted by brown dog ticks infected with the bacteria, Ehrlichia canis. ... The known cases (so far) have been in northern WA however it is important to ensure that your dogs are up to date with tick prevention and that you are checking them regularly for ticks. If youre dog isnt currently on any tick prevention, or youre not sure, pop in or call the clinic on 9295 6777 and one of our nurses will happily discuss the options with you. https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/ehrlichiosis.

18.01.2022 The weekend really flies by doesnt it? Wed love to here what you and your pets got up to this weekend!
18.01.2022 Meet Jerry, he spent the day with us yesterday. We were really taken by his friendly and engaging personality! At discharge his mum said this huge personality came out when Jerry became an indoor cat only instead of an indoor / outdoor cat. While indoor only cats avoid a lot of hazards like fights, snake bites & getting hit by cars, I thought it was really lovely that another positive coming from Jerry's lifestyle change was the development of this big smooching confident character that his mum (and us nurses) can enjoy... We love you Jerry!
17.01.2022 Its getting cold! This means its time to bring any pets that usually live outside, inside. Small animals like bunnies arent designed to withstand extreme temperatures and will be really feeling the cold, they may have been enjoying the mild weather in autumn but they need a nice warm place inside now that winter has well and truly arrived Our dogs will also be grateful for a nice warm bed inside at night, especially older arthritic pups.
16.01.2022 Blood tests are an amazing tool that we are lucky enough to have at our disposal. They show us how your pets health is on the inside, something that we can only assume based on a physical exam alone. If you have a senior pet, or a pet on long term medications, we like to do a blood panel every 6 months. The question I get asked most often is - Why so frequent? The answer is that our pets age much faster than we do, and so their health changes more rapidly than ours. ... This chart gives a great visual of how our pets life stages compare to their age in years. How old is your pet? Feel free to drop a photo in the comments!!
16.01.2022 FOUND *Edit: She has been reunited with her family! This little one was found this afternoon wandering Wandeara crescent.... 15.01.2022 With the wet weather lately, rats and mice will be seeking shelter - and whats more warm and dry than your place? Many people will be reaching for the baits so here is your periodic reminder that rat/mouse baits (and snail pellets too while were at it) are dangerous, and deadly, for both pets and wildlife. You dont need to be using it yourself for your pets to ingest the poison! ... They dont work quickly and rodents can travel some distance before they are killed, making them easy targets for pets and wildlife who are then poisoned themselves. Symptoms of poisoning include lethargy, going off food, coughing or trouble breathing, pale gums, black tarry faeces, blood in vomit or urine or excessive bleeding from wounds. But these symptoms take a day or more to develop - do NOT wait for symptoms! If you suspect your pet may have ingested baits, seek veterinary attention immediately.

08.01.2022 Another Dental Month info post! One of the things we often recommend as a dental disease preventative you can easily use at home is a dental diet like Hills TD. The first question we get is almost always "How does it work? What makes it special?" This video is a great visual to show how the dental biscuits help to keep your pets teeth cleaner for longer!

06.01.2022 Spring has sprung! We're all slowly starting to venture out more and enjoy the warmth and sunshine with our pets, but it's important to remember that we aren't the only ones enjoying the weather shift. Fleas and ticks are also becoming more active as the weather warms up. Now is the time to make sure your furry friends are up to date with their flea and tick prevention.... 04.01.2022 FOUND This pink and grey galah has been handed in to us this morning and we think she may be someone's pet. She was found on Great Eastern Hwy in Mundaring. She does have some injuries and requires medical attention. ... If you think she may be yours please contact the clinic on 9295 6777. Proof of ownership will be required. See more
04.01.2022 Lets talk about heartworm! Heartworm is a little different to other worms as it's not something your dog is going to pick up by being around other animals. Heartworm is transmitted by mosquitoes! It can wreak havoc on your dogs circulatory system but thankfully prevention is easy. You can prevent heartworm in 2 ways, a monthly treatment at home or a yearly injection.... Both work, however we do recommend the once a year Proheart injection. It's a nice and simple set-and-forget option that ensures your pup is always protected. You don't even need to keep track, we'll send you a reminder when it's nearly due. Show us some photos of your pups in the comments and let us know what your preferred heartworm prevention method is!
04.01.2022 With spring, comes babies! This time of year there are many baby birds starting to venture out, just like this little fluffball. They're only just learning to fly and unfortunately aren't very good at it yet. Many of them end up on the ground - which is normal!! Their parents are still around and still caring for them. So what should you do if you see a baby bird on the ground? In many cases - nothing. ... Check to see if the bird is sick or injured, if it is, bring it in to a vet or wildlife centre. If the bird is healthy but is in imminent danger, from the road or dogs for example, try to find the nest and return the baby to the nest. If the bird is healthy and safe - leave it alone. Try to keep an eye on it for a while to make sure the parents are around, remind yourself that this is a normal stage for fledglings and enjoy the rare encounter See more
03.01.2022 Congratulations Max! The handsome Max will be our cover photo for the next month
03.01.2022 We see a lot of large breed dogs and this beautiful Saint Bernard was no exception! After his procedure he slotted straight in to clinic life, helping out at reception and having lunch with the nurses, we put a lot of effort into helping our patients to feel comfortable around the clinic and it was great to see our big friend having a good time while he waited for his mum to pick him up.
