03.02.2022 As a dog trainer, what brings the most joy to me is the moment I see the lightbulb turn on inside not only the dogs mind, but their persons mind too. That lightbulb moment is when the connection between dog and human really begins as we learn to understand our canine friends better and learn how to communicate with them more effectively. . After my training session with Denzel on Tuesday, I snapped a few photos of the handsome boy and came across this one, a special moment be...tween Denzel and his person. . To most, it may simply look like a dog sniffing their persons hand for more treats. To me, it is so much more then that - the look in Denzel's eyes is that of a dog whose lightbulb switched on during our session, it is the look of connection with his special human. This is the connection that builds when we teach our dogs how to learn. And once they have learned how to learn, the boundaries are limitless with what dog and human can share and achieve together. 27.01.2022 denzelthecollie Denzel had a training session this morning with @pawsatplaydogtraining to work on his very demanding borking & some recall We both learnt so much & are very excited to continue to work on all the things we learnt today. Best part of it all was he got to see his litter sibling Inka, for the first time since they were pups Thank you, Pru! Denzel is such a good boy, he wants nothing more then to please, just sometimes, his excitement gets the better of hi...m and he starts yelling. I know both you and Denzel can overcome the barking with patience and consistency, though being a Collie, some backchat is still to be expected, but by using his inside voice instead. And you have already done a great job with those recalls. By incorporating those few little tweaks and always rewarding him heavily for coming back, before you know it, his recalls will start to become reliable. As a small business owner, everyone who has shown support - from a like, to a share, to words of support, and of course all my clients who have given me an opportunity to help them with... their four-legged family member - I cannot express how much I appreciate it. . After 7 years of not being able to take time off over Christmas/New Year, I am now officially on holidays until January the 10th 2022, catching some sun, taking time for beach trips with my own dogs and spending family time with one very patient husband. . 31.12.2021 Last training sessions for 2021 done, finished off with one of our favourites, Rally training! If you have been thinking of trying your hand & your dogs paws at dog sports, Rally is a good introduction to the competition obedience world. The first level - Rally Novice - is performed all on leash & you can talk to and encourage your dog as much as you want to, as you both navigate the course set out by the judge. It’s a great sport for beginners & if your dog already kno...ws the basic commands - sit, drop, stay, come, heel on a loose leash - you might be surprised to hear you are well on your way. Rally is also a great way to build the bond between you & your dog while also giving them a job to do, particularly important with young & high drive dogs. While I am now wrapping up for the year (will put out some holiday dates over the next couple of days), I will still be available via Messenger or phone if you wanted to plan ahead for next year to book in some sessions for obedience (companion/pet or competition level), Rally, behavioural or pre/post-puppy consults.
