25.01.2022 Personal Training 2 Looking for weight loss / more visible muscles? In regards to the last post, we have been able to calculate our calorie maintenance over https://buff.ly/2HVAOFH If we are seeking for better sharp look for a woman or man we are looking for a calorie deficit.... In that case, we need to go lower between 10% and 20% deficit. If someone is at 3000 calories for maintenance, as I am I would drop the most 500 calories. Many of us (I tried that) use to find breaking points when they decide to change everything. Physically it’s possible but mentally it can be quite challenging. Stop eating sweets for the next 4 weeks is setting up for failure. Instead, enjoying a reasonable amount of sweats with your lovely partner or with friends with moderation once a time makes the moment more appreciated and you can reach up for long-term smart goals! #PaulMeldrum #dog #dogagility #dogtraining #doggybootcamp #fitness #health #runwithyourdog #run #sydney #australia #centennialpark #personaltrainer #bootcamp #movebetter #outdoor #positive #muscle #cardio #strength #fatloss #dogfriendly #dogsofnsw #health #fitness #fun #joy #positivevibes #travel #bootcamp
25.01.2022 Habit Tracking 1 Research has shown that people who track their progress on goals like losing weight , quitting smoking, and lowering blood pressure are all mo...re likely to improve than those who don’t! atomic habits Do you agree with that? I totally concur with this study! I used to try to put on weight for 3 years and only once I have created a habit of writing down my weight was able to see results every month from there! Do you track any of your habits or tasks?

22.01.2022 FEAR DESENSITISATION Many dogs offer reactive behaviour (barking, running away) towards unfamiliar situations, things, people, animals in order to cope with their anxiety, fear. Using a food in the vicinity of unfamiliar subject can desensitize fears. ... As Lindsay says Fear is not overcome by telling oneself there is nothing to fear, but by evoking opposing impulses to fear, like relaxation or appetitive arrousal Lindsay, S (2000) Remember exposing your dog during its life to many different situations, people, things followed by pat, treat or game as a prevention is an ultimate success we all want to achieve Have a fun day!
22.01.2022 Blinking Indicates friendliness and can be interpreted as a submission but not as completely as averting the gaze Adding a pacifying gesture to the threat stare reduces the level of confrontation without giving up much status. It can diffuse a potentially reactive situation... Notice that body language needs to be read in context with the dogs activity and in conjunction with other signals. 20.01.2022 Dog Training 4 Same as human socialization, Environmental socialization to experience various weather conditions, visiting various busy streets, driving in the trams, pubs, busses, cars is crucial. Specific Socialisation is full interaction motor vehicles, animals which is he going to be in later interaction (cats, birds, horses, dogs). Lawn mover, hoover, fan, loud noises, etc. ... The goal of all this training will be to have a puppy confident around all of those stimuli by positive reinforcement training (treats, game) Jake loves hoover interaction! Since he is the puppy I spread dozens of kibbles once I turn it on and he goes nuts :D Now I teach him to go as soon as he hears the hoover Ley on his place and waits for it! Drulls are everywhere around him at this moment :D My favorite specific socialization was teaching Jake to entry to the water and swim in a safe environment! Especially here in Sydney in the summer! 18.01.2022 Mental & Physical Stimulation Dogs same as Humans need to work mentally and physically in order to fulfil natural needs what also prevents from undesirable behaviours Hunting dogs need to chase, retrievers wants to retrieve stuff, bullies like kind of wrestling. All of that can be satisfied by different type of games as toys retrieving, playing tug of war etc.... What about us, humans? What do we need to fulfil? Thousands years ago were women those, who took care of families while men were hunting for food Our predecessors were active and nowadays we still need to fulfil high activity level heavily rooted in us in order to maintain our mental and physical health For that reason we have gatherings with friends, playing sports with or without our furry friends to keep us and our pups happy together I wrote this article accordingly to great podcast from Luke & Panos @lifewithyourdogpodcast Highly recommended same as @patricktangyephotography

17.01.2022 SHOW THE DOG HOW TO WIN Do not expect immediate understanding of the task Set up exercise for winning ... If he does get the understanding make a reward significant! If dog is having trouble winning/ understanding, make the task simpler
15.01.2022 Waiting on the turn and observing teammates :) Relax compliance training on the mat meanwhile
15.01.2022 REWARDING YOUR PUP Treats we offer to our dogs have a purpose of reinforcing behaviour which we want to occur more often. Reward is something what dog want at that time! ... QUESTION IS? Does the dog want a pat if there is sausage on the ground? Does the dog want a sausage if there is a cat to chase?
15.01.2022 COLOUR PERCEPTION Did you know that dogs have poor colour perception? Reason behind it is that dogs survival doesnt require it as they are twilight hunters!... Dogs can see both red-orange-yellow-green colours and blue-violet colours and can tell that any of these colours are colours as opposed to white or grey. Thats the reason why do we also use mainly those colours in Agility training ;) National Dog Trainers Federation @patricktangyephotography Thank You!

14.01.2022 Deal with dog’s reactivity to outdoor voices (neighbours, dogs...) with very simple, easy to do training technique described in the video. 14.01.2022 Action vs Motion Action is a type of behaviour that delivers an outcome. If I outline 10 ideas for exercises I want to do, that’s motion. ... If I actually sit down and do few sit ups that’s action. If I search for a better diet plan and read fee books on the topic, that’s motion. If I actually eat a healthy meal, that’s action. Sometimes motion is useful, but it will never produce an outcome by itself. Atomic Habits

13.01.2022 DOGS HEARING Dogs can focus and capture better high-pitched sounds; which in their natural environment, would aid in the hunting of small rodents Their hearing capabilities are up to four times better than humans ... Did you also know that dog can distinguish two notes differing by only one eighth of a tone?? This is why dogs are so good at recognising the sound of their owners car engines over others of even the same make, model and year. With all of these abilities our pups possess theres no need to bend down to your dog and yell into its ears when giving command! ;) National Dog Training Federation @patricktangyephotography The best Sydneys Photographer @jemima_albus Ginger

10.01.2022 SCENT Is the most dominant canine sense. The primary function of scent in dogs is to detect and locate odours from local environment The average person has around 5 million scent receptors in their nose - dogs have around 220 million ... 10% of the dogs brain is dedicated to scent, whereas human only rely on 1% Some dogs are selectively bred for scenting traits (e.g. Bloodhounds - ground scent, Collie - air scent) Gladly to say I had an opportunity to work with those breeds working as rescue dogs searching for death bodies or still alive, lost people. They were able to allocate victims with good wind from hundreds of meters or track for kilometres! Studies have also shown that there is no scientific measuring equipment on the face of the earth that can compare to the ability of the dogs nose! 09.01.2022 Training Preparation and Drive Drive is the term describing an instinctive motivation that has been modified by experience / learning The term drive is best used to describe the animals motivational state... Dogs are commonly driven to work for different sources of fun, food, pets or games. In order to increase drive to work we cut off those sources for a while before the training This way we can reach out for dogs best learning experience while keeping it highly enjoyable! @patricktangyephotography

08.01.2022 Dogs Taste & What Treats Are Best Important to know is that taste is closely associated with the sense of smell and it is said that dogs gain more information about food from its smell than from its taste Even dogs can detect bitter, sweet, salty, and sour taste like humans, the sense of taste is the last thing to be stimulated when hunting ! ... For that reason dogs are responding to the better odour of treats more intensively than to dry food (Sausage vs dry beef) In my experience sausages are the best as its still hydrating dog compare to dry food, it also has nice form once you cut. Most importantly, dog is more intense and open to new learning as it has good smell! However, once your dog can easily perform given task its fine to offer food with lower value such as dry food (easier to use for long walks) It is also found that smell, not taste, is an important factor in establishing a preference for one meat over another Taste and texture are still of some importance, as dogs that could not smell still preferred meat to cereal Dogs are true omnivores, eating meat & vegetation At the end, remember, falling for a dogs novelty demands often results in a fussy eater and inappropriate behaviour is often reinforced with a tastier option. These dogs become progressively more finicky and harder to please over time National Dog Trainers Federation @patricktangyephotography
08.01.2022 Personal Training 3 Looking for mass gain / bigger muscles? In regards to the last post, we have been able to calculate our calorie maintenance over https://buff.ly/2HVAOFH If we are seeking for adding extra weight for women or man we are looking for a calorie surplus.... In that case, we need to go higher between 10% and 20% surplus. If someone is at 3000 calories for maintenance, as I am I would add around 500 extra calories to not to gain too much fat along. Eating more portions per day is a good strategy to get it right. Protein shakes or other liquid meals make it more enjoyable! For those who are in search of fat loss and complaining about how much harder it is, it’s definitely not. 07.01.2022 Body Language & Visual Signals Body language helps to maintain harmonious relationships throughout the pack. Dogs understand detailed body language of its own species what enables them to read human body language also! ... Important to remember is that dogs are generally more likely register visual signals than auditory ones what is useful in the dog training. Therefore in dog agility training using long guiding arms help our pups to better interpret humans message to them and make a run nice and smooth Have a great day! 07.01.2022 Howling Wolves howl to assemble the pack, locate each other, pass on an alarm, communicate over distances, coordinate departures, reunions and movements and celebrate the chase. 07.01.2022 Im always questioning myself, why do we feed dogs from the bowl Why dont we rather keep dry food in the pouch and train our dog to build some social skills, general manners or building confidence? 06.01.2022 Cues and commands Many Agility students are asking me very similar question What command do we use?... Good question would be also WHEN? 05.01.2022 Instinct Instinctive behaviour as stalking, chasing or growling is often defined as a species typical, hereditary skill, which aims at maintenance of life and breed Instinctive behaviours are hard-wired in dogs brain, so ready to use without learning ... It can also be prevented, altered, enhanced or modified by environmental factors (experience) As an instance, dog successful at chasing bird and eating the prey will strongly reinforce the behaviour but behaviour may distinct by continuous prevention from it Taking this example, behaviour can be satisfied and met by redirected to other activities as chasing a ball or running agility course (getting prey/ toy/ food at the end) National Dog Trainers Federation @patricktangyephotography
05.01.2022 Dog Training 3 Once you bring your puppy home the Human Socialisation Period starts. It's a time from 3 weeks of age when a dog should socialize with people since it is developing physiological capabilities. When we take the puppy out of the rescue kennel we might go through this process at a later age of your dog what takes usually more time since the brain of the older dogs has already certain working patterns and saved experience which we need to firstly exchange for a be...tter experience and then retrain new patterns. I take my current dog Jake as an example. He was rehoused puppy 2x as he was attacked by a large dog couple of times. His owners decided to give him away. I got him (didn’t know what had happened) until I saw his reactions to other dogs. Now we are slowly working on it and he is much much better! This is a reminder that we need to be careful when choosing a breeder, kennel, and risk coming with taking rehomed dogs (I love Jake so much!!!) #dog #dogagility #dogtraining #doggybootcamp #fitness #health #runwithyourdog #run #sydney #australia #centennialpark #personaltrainer #bootcamp #movebetter #outdoor #positive #muscle #cardio #strength #fatloss #dogfriendly #dogsofnsw #health #fitness #fun #joy #positivevibes #travel #bootcamp #explore

03.01.2022 Achieve more with less effort Trying to pump up your motivation to stick with a hard habit is like trying to force water through a bent hose. It’s easier to re...moving the bend in the hose. Very often we try to start new habits in high friction environments. Trying to follow strict diet while we are out for dinner. Trying to read book in a chaotic household. The idea is to create an environment where doing a right thing is as easy as possible. Better then battle our bad habits is finding ways to reduce friction associated with our good habits. Want to improve your diet? Chop up a tom of fruits and vegetables on weekends and pack them in containers, so you have easy access to healthy, ready to eat options during the week. Want to exercise? Set out your workout clothes, shows and water bottle ahead of time. These are simple ways to make the good habit the path of least resistance. Atomic Habits
02.01.2022 Barking Mirrors an emotional state. Some breeds are more inclined to bark that others. ... National Dog Trainers Federation @big__archie
01.01.2022 How to Stop Procrastinating by 2 Minute Rule? Researchers estimate that 40 to 50 percent of our actions on any given day are done out of habit. Even when you ...know you should start small its easy to start too big. When you dream about something, the excitement takes over and you are trying to do too much too soon. When you start a new habit it should take less then two minutes to do. Nearly any habit can be scaled down into a two minute version The idea behind is to make your habits as easy as possible to start. Anyone can meditate for one minute , read one page, or put one item of clothing away. A new habit should not feel like a challenge. So you should go from very easy to very hard For instance, running a marathon is very hard. Running 5k is hard. Walking thousands steps is moderately difficult. Walking 10minutes is easy. And putting your running shoes on is very easy. That’s how you follow 2 minutes rule. The point is to master the habit of showing up. Atomic Habits
