25.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to our September Community Skills class on their completion of the course We absolutely love our Comm Skills course and the fabulous Marietta who teaches for us. Her vast experience in dog training really gives everyone an amazing time and we have heaps of fun! The course is great for any dog and their human, but especially to gain experience if you want to go down the therapy dog path. We only run this course 3 x per year, so next course will be in March ...2021. Well done to Hazel, Patrick, Sam, Able & Elkie and their lovely humans #communityskillsfordogs #dogtrainingbrisbane #positivedogtraining #trainwithnopainnofear #dogsofbrisbane #pawsitiveconnection

22.01.2022 We've been getting a few inquiries lately about dogs not being as tolerant towards other dogs. Social maturity can play a factor in this. Great blog from Sit Pretty Pet Services "Social maturity is a developmental milestone that occurs in dogs anytime between 1-3 years of age. I like to equate this landmark to that of humans turning 30. You know, that time in your life when you wake up and realize man, I need to figure my life out.

22.01.2022 Pause for one minute’s silence At 11am today, we ask you to observe a minute’s silence to remember the service men and women who have served and continue to ser...ve our nation. Although Remembrance Day is different this year, the Australian War Memorial’s website includes different ways to help us commemorate wherever we are at home, school or work. www.awm.gov.au/werememberthem #WeRememberThem #RemembranceDay

21.01.2022 Aren’t these guys just adorable meet Strudel and his little ‘sister’ Lulu. We are working with their dedicated mum and dad to increase Strudel’s confidence in general and reduce barking when unknown people arrive. He has made such good progress already We are also helping Lulu to be less worried when she needs to be home alone without mum, dad or brother. They absolutely love their training.but as you can see, it’s hard work #teamstrudel #teamlulu #dachshunds #brisbanedachshunds #dogtrainingbrisbane #forcefreetraining #pawsitiveconnection

18.01.2022 Daya is a lucky girl as she can go with her dad to the office every day. Sometimes this comes with challenges when clients arrive to pick up goods or like today when tradies arrive to fix something. In our day training session today, we worked on calm behaviour while the workers climbed up ladders, drilled holes and carried equipment around. She did a fantastic job . Go Daya ! #teamDaya #daytraining #brisbanedogtrainer #forcefreetraining #pawsitiveconnection

12.01.2022 MULTI-DOG IN HOME AGGRESSION Meet Noodles, Quinn and Ralph, the 3 most adorable and affectionate Tibetan Spaniels there ever were! About 4 months ago, Noodles had her desexing operation and in combination with some other medical complications her hormones were all over the place! This caused some aggression towards the other dogs in the home quite severe, enough to have Noodles removed from the house to allow for her to recover and allow for hormones and stress to reduce ...to a baseline level. In the meantime her family and I discussed a plan moving forward including management and integration back into the home. Careful introductions were planned outside of the home first and we discussed some important topics, from reading subtle body language signals in all 3 dogs and learning about trigger stacking, to foundation behaviours such as targeting and mat training. All 3 dogs started to become more focussed and responsive in the home. Now fully integrated again the dogs are smashing it, with careful management and training which always should be a part of a multi dog household. It hasn’t been an easy road for Scott and Keith, but now their adorable family is back together and we couldn’t be happier for them. Fantastic work guys! 11.01.2022 NEW YEARS EVE FIREWORKS & PARTIES Please keep your pets safe. Parties and loud noises can scare even the calmest of pets. Even if some firework displays have been called off, there may still be local displays scheduled. Check with your local council.... It's not too late to prepare. Talk to your vet about options if your pet is worried during fireworks and loud noises. Products such as Zylkene can be started at least three days before the event is expected and continue throughout the fireworks season. Be safe out there! #preparation #petsafetytips #getready #dogsofbrisbane #catsofbrisbane #besafe

07.01.2022 That’s a wrap for 2020! It’s certainly been a tough year for everyone, and we would like to thank you, our PC community for your encouragement and support throughout the year. We had to adjust like many other businesses, and we successfully transitioned to our online class format in March for puppy, Junior and Fundamentals. We introduced Parkour for Dogs as a first in Brisbane to give our sports clients an outlet, but it has taken off very successfully in its own right. ... We were grateful to start in person classes again in June, and we were lucky enough to help our clients all through the pandemic in private sessions. Sadly our sports students lucked out with none of our venues allowing us to take classes until November ending an 8 month break. Some venues are still not available and may not be for the foreseeable future. This saw our competitive flyball and disc teams seek out another venue which was successful for them to start training in September, preparing for competitions later in the year and into 2021. Our scent classes remained a constant with only a small break, giving many dogs that much needed outlet. We look forward to a more settled year in 2021! Our office is closed from 24th December to 3rd January, with normal business hours resuming on 4th January. We would like to wish you and your families a relaxing and safe Christmas Ros, Rachael, Nicola & Anne
