13.01.2022 Great to have you at our classes Ree's Photo Obsessions to capture these moments. Having a dog should not be about commanding them around and telling them constantly what to do. It’s about building a great realationship with another being which should be based on trust and understanding.... We love seeing how these relationships are growing when working with these incredible dogs and their humans! Great photo

09.01.2022 Yes, it is important for your dog to exercise - BUT the type of exercise is just as important. Just as it is not appropriate to attach another human being to a ...lead and drag them alongside a car to make them exercise it is not appropriate for a dog to be attached to a lead and dragged alongside a bike as it is ridden along. This type of exercise places stress on your dog physically - It places stress on their joints, bones and muscles. Long term this can lead to arthritis and many other health conditions. This type of exercise places stress on your dog mentally - Imagine the stress of having to keep running, not being able to stop if you were feeling pain, not being able to stop and catch your breath, not being able to stop to go to the toilet, not being able to stop if you were feeling unwell. Not being able to stop until the bike stops. Long term, this mental stress can lead to poor health and behavioural issues. Not only does this type of exercise affect your dog mentally and physically, it is dangerous for yourself, the public and your dog. Please be mindful and respectful of your dog. Please allow them to leisurely explore their environment, please allow them choice and curiosity, please allow them to enjoy their walk. All dogs, even the most active ones, love a slower walk, one where they can sniff and explore. We have amazing customers here at The Complete Pet Company who understand the benefits of allowing their dogs the freedom to sniff and explore their environment, but sadly when out and about we see far too many dogs having no choice but to run alongside their owners bike. Please share this post. Let’s get the word out. It is illegal to run your dog from a lead while riding a bike and it is not OK! Take your dog for a walk before going for a bike ride.

08.01.2022 If you have a puppy socialisation should be one of your main focuses on the weeks and month to come. Good puppy socialisation should be done with low stress exposure to lots of different aspects of everyday life until your dog is fully grown into an adult dog. Puppies that are not well-socialised have often problems with fear, aggression or general manners, as under socialised dogs are often very uncomfortable with their surrounding and the world they live in. get in contact with us if you like to learn more!
08.01.2022 Slow down and enjoy your walk together, great for dog and human alike

06.01.2022 The dog nose knows...amazing! Together, the two experiments show that dogs, like vampire bats, can sense weak hot spots and that a specific region of their brains is activated by this infrared radiation, the scientists say. They suspect dogs inherited the ability from their ancestor, the gray wolf, who may use it to sniff out warm bodies during a hunt.
03.01.2022 Meet sweet and clever Rocky, he has joined our Pawfect Puppy Program and will join our January classes in 2021.

02.01.2022 Dogs are not public property. Somehow, it’s become normalized for folks to think they can say hello to every dog they see. While out in public, we know the do...g lover who squeals over seeing a dog and proceeds to rush over and say hello. They make a beeline to the dog and immediately start fawning over it and petting it. Occasionally, this dog lover will ask the handler if they can say hello, but more often than not, no permission is asked nor granted to approach a dog while out in public. We’re here to tell you. Thats not cool! Seriously. A true dog lover realizes that a dog is a sentient being, who experiences pain, pleasure, likes and dislikes. Dogs already have the stress of living in a world not built for them. Most of them are admirably tolerant of the many rules that come along with living with humans. We should not expect them to be physically accosted by strangers, with no ability to say no. The reasons why you should Ignore My Dog are endless, but the reality is this: Dogs are not public property and that should be reason enough. If you really love dogs, you will let them spend their time in public in peace. Be a true dog lover and Ignore dogs who aren’t your own unless you are specifically invited to interact with them. The dogs and their humans thank you. #ignoremydog #beagoodhuman #lovedogs #respectdogs Www.ignoremydog.com Www.patreon.com/thinkdogtraining

02.01.2022 Let your dog chew. Let your dog play. Let your dog be a dog!
01.01.2022 Cuteness aside, these tiny, innocent beings present us with an opportunity to learn as much as possible about dogs and set them up for the best pos...sible life of health and wellness. There are many opinions out there and it is a minefield to navigate. Here are some things to consider as you begin learning together with your new puppy. - Socialisation is important and puppy schools certainly provide this, BUT it shouldn't be a mêlée. It should be small (4-6) pups, positive not punitive and guide the puppies in their play and socialisation so their confidence is built in a safe way. My bestie @pawsitivek9behaviour is a superstar when it comes to puppy school with a difference. - Good nutrition is key to setting your puppy up for health. My animal nutrition background means I advocate for fresh fed puppies. Food is medicine and we should be fuelling our puppies with the best fresh food. Puppies have specific needs, so be sure to talk to a qualified animal nutritionist. - Your puppies are growing, we need to understand how they develop and pick activities that are safe and foster wellbeing. They have lots of energy yes, but we should be looking to stimulate the mind and the physical aspect of working with our puppies should be appropriate to their age and stage of development. Excessive running and ball chasing studies are now showing us are more harmful than we think. If you need help navigating the wonderful world of fur parenting. I'm here to help.
