15.01.2022 We are now taking bookings for our FINAL puppy school of 2020!!! Classes start on Wednesday the 25th November and Sunday 6th December. Each class is run by a fully qualified, experienced, certified and insured trainer. Class numbers are kept small and we operate to a COVID safe plan.... During the course, puppies will be able to socialise together in a controlled environment, once a week, over 3 weeks. This is an important step in your dogs development because there are things, as humans, we cannot teach our dogs. Allowing your puppy to be part of a socialisation group gives the dogs a chance to learn to respect other dog’s boundaries, the owners are able to assess and learn their puppy’s personality and it gives owners an opportunity to learn when they need to intervene in rough play. Pawsome Puppies will also cover basic obedience training during the course of the sessions, teach the owner about vet check preparations, show techniques for lifting and handling your puppy in a safe way, cover basic behavioural training, advise on the appropriate toys bathing products, grooming products, puppy teething as well as health and diet related information, how to familiarise your puppy with its collar and lead, teach owners about the puppy’s living environment and safety, car travel, travel laws and travel safety and much more To secure your spot, contact us today or visit our website www.pawsomepuppies.com.au

02.01.2022 FAQ - What is the difference between a dog trainer using obedience training and other methods for helping my dogs behavior vs a dog behaviorist working with my dogs natural abilities and its brain?? Firstly - lets break down the difference in the ways of training; Obedience training is when the dog is looking for a cue to obey the owner (hand gestures, vocal cues etc). ... Behavioural training is based off being taught manners, that have been instilled in the dog so it knows what to do at all times without the need for the dog to rely on cues. Secondly - lets break down the difference in the trainer: The dog training industry isn’t regulated so unfortunately there is a lot of dog trainers out there who can potentially make your dogs issues worse long term. It is common that the training methods used are not helpful for the dog because the majority of dog behavioural problems are neurological and the trainer isn’t qualified to deal with the issues on that level. Qualified dog trainers can be helpful in a limited capacity, if the scope of the problem goes outside what they have learnt, the training methods they use can make matters worse. Training a dog isn't a one size fits all approach. At Pawsome Puppies, the high level of internationally recognised training in both dog psychology and dog neurology that staff have, enables them to have more of an in depth view of the cause not just the symptoms and are then able to use techniques based on these observations to combat unwanted behaviours, rather than just masking them. Your dogs behaviour problems will often resurface as a result of the wrong technique being used to combat the problem. This is common in shut down methods, which is a bandaid solution triggering the dog to become overwhelmed and shutting down, seemingly responding to the training method, when they are actually suffering. Once the dog gains confidence back, the behaviours often return worse than before. At Pawsome Puppies, we understand that there is a reason for every behaviour and by specifically dealing with the CAUSE, not just the symptom, we are able to correct the problem by teaching the dog in a way they understand, without the use of harsh or incorrect methods. We start this through puppy school, where we set you up to teach the dog the correct behaviors, our classes are not just to teach obedience (although we cover this and much more too). For dogs with pre-existing problems, we do in home training. We assess the dog and teach the owner why it is behaving the way it is and tailor a program to combat it in a way both the dog and the dog owner understand. We work with all behavioral issues, and we specialise in rehabilitating rescue and pound dogs. Contact us today to see how we can help you! www.pawsomepuppies.com.au
