25.01.2022 Em here! Yesterday, my partner Corey and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary (I feel so old ) We started dating as awkward teenagers in high school and have since watched each other graduate , change career paths , and fail and succeed time and time again Truth is... Pawz & Me would be nowhere near as successful as it is today without the support and guidance I receive everyday from Corey ... I feel well and truly blessed to have a loving partner who supports everything I do and cares so deeply about smashing goals with me I see a lot of quotes all the time about behind every strong woman there is an asshole who made her that way and that sort of thing. True in some circumstances, I guess. But not in mine Behind this strong woman, is a supportive man cheering her on and celebrating her wins every step of the way Do you have a supportive partner like mine who is your biggest cheerleader? Let me know how they support you through life and/or business

24.01.2022 Thank you to all the friends, family and clients who reached out to me this morning. As you can imagine we’ve not been allowed access to our office (which is directly beside Upstairs at Fred’s) and we aren’t sure when we will gain access. I’m thankful that this happened in the early hours of the morning and that none of our team or the Upstairs at Fred’s team was in the building when this fire broke out. I’m also thankful that I don’t store too many things of high value in ou...r office overnight, so if we’ve lost anything during this fire, it’s mostly sentimental items from our clients over the years To all our clients, I’ve been informed the fire crew MAY have access to our office today, tomorrow, or by early next week to gather your keys. Since I don’t know exactly when that will be, I ask that you please be patient with us regarding what happens with our schedule for next week. I will need to make arrangements to find us a new HQ in the interim to ensure we can still continue to service our clients. Today’s Beach Trip will continue to go ahead - there’s not a lot more that can cheer me up than seeing beautiful, happy dogs having the time of their lives. I’m thankful that everyone is safe, and my heart breaks for the Upstairs at Fred’s team for the loss of their historic restaurant and all the businesses below that have also had to wake up to this news this morning. I’ll continue to keep you all updated with any news I receive. Em xx

20.01.2022 The other day, I heard a client of ours tell me her dogs were excited as we approached their leads because "they knew they were about go for a double-u". Nope, not a "walk". Or "walkies". A "double-u". This *seriously* cracked me up ... Dogs are so clever! And even more so when they know they get to participate in some of their favourite activities! Not only do dogs absolutely love walk time (or double-u time ), but regular walks are SO vital to your pets health, too! So just why is a regular walk so beneficial for your doggy? Keeps them healthy & happy Helps develop social skills Curbs bad behaviour ... Just to name a few! Whats your dogs favourite part of their walk? Read more about all the benefits of a regular walk for your pooch https://bit.ly/3iO5fj0 #DogWalkers

18.01.2022 When you hire Pawz & Me, you can rest assured knowing your fur babies are in the hands of passionate pet peeps who have a range of varying experiences working with animals Take Shirry here for example She's studying Environmental Science at uni because she is *super* passionate about protecting wildlife and our environment ... Outside of her work with Pawz & Me, Shirry works with an awesome business called Ranger Jamie Tours where she educates primary school kids about environmental science, flora and fauna, ecosystems, Australian history, and sustainability Ranger Jamie Tours aims to inspire kids to become more environmentally conscious and understand the importance of a sustainable future Shirry's work with Ranger Jamie Tours has allowed her to work within Symbio Wildlife Park, the Royal National Park, and many schools across the Sydney region. Her favourite part? Handling a heap of exotic species, including snakes, alligators, possums and lizards Shirry says she's always been super passionate about the environment and conservation. She reckons this probably stems from visiting her property at Ellenborough (which was in the rainforest) a lot when she was young. Sounds like a total dream! She's always been surrounded by lots of different types of animals and has come to really love and appreciate them all Did you have some interesting experiences when you were younger that shaped your love for animals?

15.01.2022 Tomorrow is our last adventure with one of our absolute faves, Buzz the Boxer We met Buzz earlier this year when his family decided to get him involved in our action-packed Outdoor Adventures Buzz's quirky, fun-loving personality and ability to get along with any dog he meets made him such a perfect addition to our doggy crew ... 14.01.2022 Our doggies loooove a good wash at the end of their Beach Adventure Just look at all those smiles Do you have a doggy that loves a nice, warm bubble bath?

She recently began volunteering at the RSPCA animal shelter as she loves the comfort of knowing the animals in the shelter have plenty of loving care and human interaction everyday As well as being a foodie and fitness fanatic, Georgia plans to study wildlife conservation at University as she has a passion for learning everything there is to know about the complex behaviour and psychology of animals Georgias already luuurved meeting plenty of our wonderful regulars over the last week, and shes stoked about all the friendly furry faces to come during her time with Pawz & Me Hope you & your pets all give her a warm welcome!

13.01.2022 "But Em, why do all our adventures have to end?" Our dogs are never quite as happy to be heading home from our Outdoor Adventures as they are when we arrive! But who could blame them? When the sun is shining, the waves are crashing, and the whole squad looks this dang cute, were never too keen on leaving either ... Thankfully we run our Outdoor Adventures every fortnight, so it wont be too long again before the van is loaded full of happy dogs and its sand, sun, surf, and sandy paws, baby! #DogWalkers

13.01.2022 Did you know our gal Georgia is a volunteer with the RSPCA? Georgia came onboard with the RSPCA just before the Covid pandemic hit, so after months of eagerly waiting to get started with her volunteer work, she finally became part of their team of passionate and dedicated volunteers a few weeks ago Want to hear a little bit about her experience so far? ... "My short time volunteering at the RSPCA dog shelter has so far provided me with a whole new perspective of the furry friends that we love and the roles that we play in each other's lives. Every time I walk into the shelter, I realise how lucky my own dogs are to have a loving home and family. I just want to adopt all of the shelter dogs and give them the lives they deserve, but the best I can do is spend the short time that I have with them giving them all of my attention and helping with their enrichment. It’s hard to not get attached to some of the dogs I come across; one three-legged girl I spent some time with was so timid and scared when I first entered her kennel, but after giving her lots of affection, treats, and chin pats, she was jumping straight into my lap and ready to go for a walk. I knew straight away that she would make such an amazing pet and any family would be lucky to have her. I feel privileged to be apart of the RSPCA's journey " Well done Georgia! You sure know how to put a smile on any doggy's face

13.01.2022 Meet the newest addition to the Pawz & Me Team, Madi We are *super* stoked to have Madi joining us to spend some time with all your amazing fur bubba's Want to know a little bit more about the passionate pet person behind the pic? Have a read! ... "Hey! I'm Madi I have a 12-year-old Shih-Tzu X Maltese named Leo, who also responds to Squishy. I truly think we are each other’s soul mates Leo has so much energy for his age and we love going on walks together. I've grown up with dogs my entire life and cannot imagin life without them. When I was young, we had 4 dogs (): Marley was our first (Border Collie rescue) Rufus was second (Shih-Tzu X Maltese) Leo was third (Shih-Tzu X Maltese) and Benson was our fourth (Kelpie mix rescue). Growing up I always loved animals. My Pa noticed this and gifted me a baby bird from his aviary to take care of, which then led to us having an aviary of our own full of Peach-Faced Lovebirds I love taking my parents' two Labradoodles Layla & Gidget on Beach Adventures where we can play for hours and hours. They have SO much energy and are super cheeky. They are the newest members in our family, and we can’t get enough of them I have a strong passion for rescue animals and animal adoption, plus I have a big soft spot for senior dogs. My dream is to be able to foster animals (dogs, birds and cats) in helping them find their forever home. In my research, I had learnt a lot of dogs up for adoption over the age of 10 will never be adopted and spend the rest of their lives in a cage, so it's my goal to raise awareness for senior animal adoption so they can spend the rest of their years in happy homes being loved like they deserve After leaving High School I worked at a local Dog Grooming Salon. I loved working with the dogs, but I found I wasn’t really spending time with them, not in the way I wanted to at least. Since then, I became invested in retail and customer service-based jobs; I never knew it would lead me back to working with animals, but I finally feel I have found the best job for me. I feel I am where I belong I can’t wait to get started with the Pawz & Me family! "

12.01.2022 Two weeks ago we were lucky enough to be a part of the most important day of our Clients lives alongside their fur baby Ruby the Springer Spaniel Amy & James have been getting Ruby involved in our Doggy Adventures for a while now and we absolutely luuurve Rubys quirky and loving nature, so it was even more special getting to play a part in their big day after getting to know their fur baby for so long It was a pleasure to watch these two beautiful souls make the commitm...ent of a lifetime surrounded by their loved ones, and in such a breathtaking setting too! Congratulations Amy & James - may a long and happy marriage await you

12.01.2022 Meet Dash This little cutie is just about to turn one, and she's been joining us on our doggy outings with her Cattle Dog big brother, Rusty As well as being a *huge* cutie patootie, Dash has another interesting quirk... She's been deaf since birth! ... Dash is a recent rescue to owners Emily & Tim, and her deafness and lack of experience in social settings has made her fairly anxious when meeting new people and dogs Since Rusty was having so much fun at the Dog Park with all his new furry friends, we wanted to make sure Dash didn't miss out on all the fun. So alongside Em & Tim, we quickly got to work on calming Dash's anxiety and helping her adjust to new people, environments, and most of all, DOGGIES! During Dash's first few sessions, we worked on providing positive interactions with other dogs from afar and through the fence at the Dog Park, and rewarded her with treats, pats, and positive affirmations when she demonstrated calm, relaxed, and curious behaviour around new dogs and people In 3 short weeks, Dash had joined the other dogs visiting the Dog Park in their playing and exploring, and alongside her big brother Rusty too, who was looking out for her the whole time Now, Rusty & Dash join us on our doggy outings once a week and have a total ball with each trip Dash's story is just another example of how vital early socialisation is for building the foundations of a happy, healthy, and social pup Does your pup have a story like Dash's? We'd love to hear all about it! Let us know in the comments

12.01.2022 Happy birthday to Pawz & Me Its seriously incredible to think were celebrating another birthday already How time flies when youre having fun everyday with furry friends ... Watching my little biz baby grow and thrive has seriously been life-changing for me. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that Pawz & Me would be achieving everything it is today! My heart is so full with happiness and pride I am *so* excited to see what the next 12 months has in store. What do you reckon the future will hold for us? - Em

11.01.2022 This week were farewelling two beautiful doggies who our Team has had the pleasure of providing pats, cuddles, and kisses for since April 2019 Next week, Ragnar & Zeus will be making the big move from Mount Annan to Sydney as their paw-rents move to be closer to work These two smiley boys certainly brought plenty of furry fun to many of our Dog Park and Beach Adventures and its safe to say were all a little (or a whole lot) heartbroken to see them go ... We all hope they get to meet and play with plenty of new doggy friends in their new neighbourhood Goodbye Ragnar & Zeus, we hope to meet for tummy rubs again soon Love Pawz & Me x

10.01.2022 Big shoutout to little Peggy the success story We began working with this cutie from 8 weeks, keeping her company at home while Mum & Dad were busy with work and getting her ready for the big, (not-so) scary world out there! Just a few weeks after her final shots and look at how much this gorgeous girl is thriving ... Making friends everywhere she goes and being the confident little Cavoodle queen she was destined to be If Peggy isn't the most perfect example of the benefits that solid behaviour training and early socialisation can bring to your dog, then I don't know what is We're proud of you Peggy! (& so are your doggy friends, too!)

10.01.2022 We luuuurve a good pet selfie here at Pawz & Me Though they don't ALWAYS go exactly to plan Good thing our Team doesn't mind a few sloppy kisses here and there! ... Who else has a pet that loves a selfie or two?

10.01.2022 This week we welcomed a new client to our pack - Honey the Husky X Golden Retriever Here she is hanging with her best bud Billie the Border Collie before a walk with Georgia Honey will be joining us for regular Dog Walking, Group Dog Park Visits, and our famous Outdoor Adventures - what a lucky doggy! ... Our Team cannot wait to spoil this gorgeous, friendly, and placid girl Keep an eye out for Honey making plenty of friends and having a ball at our doggy outings on our socials #DogWalkers

09.01.2022 Just watching the world go by with Pepsi the Spoodle at Elderslie Dog Park Were always looking for fun new places to take our doggy groups! Whats your favourite off-leash area to take your dog? Let us know ... #DogWalkers

09.01.2022 We're off on our last Beach Trip of the year tomorrow In 2020, we ran a total of 19 Doggy Beach Trips That's 19 days of action-packed surf, sun, sand, and sea for some VERY lucky doggies ... I reckon we can double that for 2021 More dogs, more trips - more fun Who's doggy will be joining us in 2021?!

07.01.2022 Faith in humanity shattered a little today

06.01.2022 5 FACTS ABOUT GERMANS SHEPHERDS WWII increased their popularity During the war, Germans used the dogs for a number of purposes. Americans were so impressed with these pooches that they brought some home, and shortly after, the US was captivated with the breeds appearance and they soon became wildly popular ... They can be affected with dwarfism Some German Shepherds can have pituitary dwarfism, and as a result, the dogs are puppy-like forever, keeping their puppy fur and staying small in stature. While this condition makes them look like adorable teddy bears, it comes with a whole slew of health problems A play once featured six German Shepherds as actors Its no surprise this happened during the weird & wonderful 80s... The dogs were sent to drama lessons in Amsterdam and given treats as motivation to act. Unsurprisingly, the play was a flop - even the theatre manager couldnt sit through it They started the Service Dog movement Buddy, a female GSD, was the first Seeing Eye Dog in the 1920s. Her owner, Morris Frank, knew right away she was a pioneer and would go on to achieve great things! Heroism is their hobby Pet GSDs, with no special training, have been known to take bullets for their owners, dash through the wilderness to get help, and plunge into raging waters to drag drowning children to safety Have you got a heroic German Shepherd at home that would take a bullet for you?

06.01.2022 Another smiley addition to our group doggy outings! Say hey to RUSTY the Cattle Dog With Mum & Dad working long hours, Rusty was bored at home and needed a way to burn up all that energy that comes with a working dog breed Thats why his Mum & Dad reached out to us ... Rustys weekly outings get him out of the yard and burning energy whilst making a heap of new friends in the process So when Mum & Dad return home from a long day of work, Rusty is well-rested and content. What more could you want for your doggy? Who else struggles with a high-energy dog like Rusty? Let us know in the comments #DogWalkers

05.01.2022 Our Team are in for a jam-packed weekend of Clients + 2 WEDDINGS This weekend we'll be celebrating the big days of... Eloise & Jake ft. their fur baby Taco the Golden Retriever at Stanwell Tops Leanne & Rob ft. their pup Leroy the Spoodle at Bowral... Not really sure what a Wedding Pet Assistant Service looks like? Check it out below Who else loves the thought of having their fur babies at their big day?

04.01.2022 So, you've just got a new pup... Now where to from here? Let's be real: puppies require a HEAP of work - think toilet training, separation training, leash training... the list goes on and on A pup's slow transition to independence as you return to your usual work/life schedule can really set the foundations of a well-balanced, happy, and independent doggy ... But unless you're someone whose work schedule can allow 1-2 months off to assist with adjusting your new pup, then this may seem impossible News flash: WE CAN HELP! New pups don't exactly come with an automatic 6-8 week leave approval from your boss (imagine ), so our Pet Sitting By The Hour Service can give you the peace of mind you need when leaving your new pup at home and returning to your usual life schedule. Case in point are these two little cuties Bronson the Cavoodle & Tanna the Cavalier We met these two handsome boys at just 8 weeks old and have been spending time with them during the week, breaking up their days while their owners are busy working away to pay for all the toys and treats these boys get spoilt with Our sessions with Bronson & Tanna have included the following: Toilet training Separation training Adjusting them to their walking harnesses Play time + Keeping them company in general Have you had a new pup that you've struggled to adjust to being at home before? How did you find they coped best? Let us know your tips & tricks

04.01.2022 Last week, little Loki the Border Collie headed out on his first ever group outing with Pawz & Me Weve been working with Loki for the past few months, spending time with him throughout the day and training his discipline, toilet training, and leash skills while his owners are off working hard. And what awesome results weve seen with this clever little cookie! After receiving his final vaccinations, Loki was able to finally join our group doggy outings last week and its... safe to say his playful and friendly nature scored him a HEAP of new friends Early socialisation in pups like Loki is so vital to a dogs overall development. Were big believers in exposing dogs to new experiences which test all their senses, particularly sound, sight, and feeling. Nothing is off limits for a dog who is learning about the world around them! Looking to socialise your doggy? Read our blog to find out more about why its so vital to their health and wellbeing https://bit.ly/30zJ7mj #DogWalkers

04.01.2022 Hey guys, Em here. I just wanted to say a quick thank you to each and every person who has reached out over the past few weeks to make sure we're all okay, show their support, and see if we needed anything at all. The last few weeks has been extremely rough, to say the least. The Upstairs at Fred's fire completely cut off access to our office and much of our belongings. The aftermath of this tragic fire has taken such an emotional toll, both by living through it myself whilst... attempting to stay afloat and manage a business during one of our busiest times of the year, as well as watching other local business owners within Whiteman's Arcade and dear friends of mine struggle to comprehend the loss and destruction of their livelihoods. School Holidays arrived, and while our schedule was jam-packed with clients, our Team were working 10 hour days, and I was in the midst of a legal battle with our real estate to escape our lease and find a new space, my beloved 12 year old family dog was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in less than 2 weeks. 2020 has truly broken me, and it's only mid-October. But my heart has been warmed by the genuine kindness, love, and care that we've received from members of our community, our clients, and others. My grandparents were generous enough to open up their home to act as our temporary office for 3 weeks until we sorted ourselves out. Our Team always had tea, coffee, cold water, and snacks on offer by this generous pair. I received invaluable guidance from local solicitors who genuinely cared about helping us escape our lease and move on to a new space following the fire. All asked for nothing in return. Combined Commercial Narellan were quick to offer a temporary space for use as soon as we needed it, with discounted rent and a flexible lease agreement. I was relieved to know we had an agency that genuinely cared about our situation. So many clients, friends, and family reached out to offer support, kind words, flowers, and plenty of chocolate when our Ghosty passed. I took a few much-needed days away from work and received nothing but flexibility and understanding from our clients. So our support net really deserves the biggest damn thank you. Thank you for helping make a whole heap of crappy situations all hitting me at once a little less crappy just by being there. Today, we started Day 1 in our new (temporary) office space above Barenz. Laura's by my side, training in admin & operations as I prepare to jet off for 2 weeks from next week on a holiday I've needed for waaay too long. Let's hope the last 2 months of 2020 are a hell of a lot better than the first 10 were x

04.01.2022 A few happy snaps from last weeks beach adventures Couldnt have asked for better weather in the middle of July, thats for sure! 7 dogs on Thursdays Adventure & 8 dogs on Fridays... What a dream (for both us and the dogs)! ... #DogWalkers

04.01.2022 It brings me so much joy, delight, and pleasure to watch my team form such wonderful relationships with the pets Ive been working with for years. Its been almost 3 years since I started Pawz & Me and the immense love and care I have for our furry clients is so hard to put into words. It sounds crazy to introduce our new team members to a pet and say Here, love this animal as deeply as I have these past few years and expect that to happen in an instant.... But I know it wont take long for them to form a soft spot for our gentle and wonderful clients who just have so much love to give, because I know how quickly I was able to fall in love with them myself. I feel overjoyed that I get to give other animals lovers that opportunity thanks to this small biz of mine I have always been open with many of the struggles that come with being a small business owner. More often than not, my brains feels fogged and frazzled with the workload I try to take on by myself. Im open to admitting that Im somewhat of a perfectionist who needs to be in control - hence why I chose to become my own boss. So just as my new team will learn to love our fur baby clients as deeply as I have for almost 3 years, I too am learning to take a step back and give my brain and body the rest it needs to ensure the Pawz & Me machine keeps chugging along. Its easy to do when I know my team have just as much love to give to back to our clients as they receive from them #DogWalkers #PetSitters

03.01.2022 Goodbye Winter, HELLOOOO SPRING! Bring on sun-filled days and PLENTY of doggy adventures! #DogWalkers

03.01.2022 It's been a little while since we've updated our list of Dog-Friendly and Off-Leash Places to Visit in the Macarthur Is you and your pooch's fave hang-out spot missing from our list? Let us know so we can help it grow!

02.01.2022 Spring has just started which means that Summer will be here before we know it, so its important were looking out for our pets in the harsh Aussie sun Particularly if youve got a white pet, like my household This is our boy Ghost. Hes 14 in November, and thats around the same number of tumours hes had removed thanks to his glory days of sunning himself for hours on end on our back deck ... Our old boy Ghost has started to look a bit more like a Frankensteins Dog these days with his missing right ear and various scars littered around his body that seem to take a lifetime to heal Animals can be vulnerable to UV damage just like us. As with humans, the UV risk to your pet varies based on skin type and sun exposure. For example, long-haired animals such as Huskies have far more hair shielding their skin than a short-haired Chihuahua. One thing all dogs, cats, horses, and other furry friends have in common, however, is that theres no hair protecting their nose. Other areas particularly susceptible to UV damage include ears and muzzles, but anywhere where skin is exposed to the sun can always benefit from some extra sun protection Heres 4 tips for keeping your dog sun-safe this coming Summer: Bring them inside the home or into an undercover area wherever possible, particularly during the warmest times of the day (12pm-4pm in Summer) Invest in a good quality, pet-friendly sunscreen Whatever you do, DONT SHAVE THEM! Consult a local Dog Groomer to find out the best way to treat your dogs coat in changing seasons Accessorise with UV-protective tops, jackets, hats and sunnies Though we cant promise that your dog will be too happy about keeping them on Tag a friend with a white or short-haired pet so they too can keep them sun-safe this coming Summer

02.01.2022 Why *do* cats like to hang around in the sun so much? Cats have a nice, toasty body temperature of 39C. A good percentage of the nutrients a kitty gets from their daily food intake (approximately 30%) is devoted purely to making their skin and coat supple and fuzzy Cats like to feel warm and secure before they fall asleep, and they do a heck of a lot of sleeping - usually 12-16hrs a day! ... They also use the sunlight to help make up for the slight drop in body temperature that happens once they fall asleep. Some cats will even change their sleep positions to follow the movement of the sun, so they never miss out on that sweet sunlight-y goodness!

02.01.2022 We utilised the amaaaazing Winter sunshine we scored last weekend to give our fleet a much-needed deep clean and I simply couldnt resist a quick photoshoot For real though - how damn good are our doggy vans looking?! Our latest VW Maxi Caddy is scheduled to head into the shop for a custom fit-out NEXT WEEK ... And you know what that means... Twice the vans, twice the amount of good old-fashioned doggy adventures Who wants to take their doggy for a spin?! #DogWalkers

01.01.2022 "Are dogs tongues cleaner than peoples?" I feel like I heard this a lot when I was a kid. Its just one of those weird facts you hear around the schoolyard that you pass onto your cousin one day and they pass it around their school and suddenly it just becomes one of those things you believe but never really look into... Until now ... So is there really any harm in a doggy kiss? The general answer to whether a dogs tongue is cleaner a humans is... Nope, not really A dogs mouth is not technically clean, and is really not actually any cleaner than a humans mouth. Dogs mouths are home to an entirely different grouping of bacteria than to that found in a human, making it difficult to compare the level of mouth cleanliness between dog and human Dogs tend to have a greater amount of bacteria in their mouths. After all, they do lick and eat some pretty rancid things! (Duck poo on the sidewalk, rubbish out of the bin, special treats fresh out of the kitty litter tray... Just to name a few ) But dont let this deter you from receiving those love-filled sloppy kisses too much The fact that your dogs mouth bacteria is almost completely different from yours means their saliva is mostly harmless to you. In fact, a kiss from your dog is probably safer than a kiss from another human who shares similar bacteria with you! Okay, BRB. Gonna go get 1,000 kisses from my dog now
