23.01.2022 Just a reminder about our Christmas Concert on Sunday - hope to see you there!
23.01.2022 Dear PCCB Members and Friends of the Band As you will all be aware the current social restrictions that are in place to help us keep everyone safe means that PCCB is not currently rehearsing. We did this preemptively and in hindsight are glad we did so. I have started writing this email several times over the last week and each time I sit down to do so there are new restrictions in place. I am sure you will have already worked this out but we obviously will not be perform...ing our ANZAC concert. The Hahndorf music festival has also been postponed. At this stage please consider all rehearsal and concerts on hold until further notice, I can assure you we will be using our loudest voices to tell everyone we are back when it is safe to do so. I am aware that a number of people will be standing in their driveway or at their front gate to observe the Dawn service with their neighbours (I have seen both 6am and 7am in posts so check what is happening in your street if you would like to participate). For band members - there are a number of websites where you are able to download the music for the Last Post for free. If you are having trouble finding this please email me and I will help find a copy for your preferred instrument. Whilst this is traditionally played on a Bugle I am sure the Diggers and our current Veterans would forgive us playing it on which ever instrument we are able to use. Until we meet again keep safe, keep well Thankyou
23.01.2022 Day light savings starts tonight remember to put your clocks forward so you don't miss rehearsal!

19.01.2022 In response to the cancellation of ANZAC Day Services etc, most of us would have seen or heard about the suggestion for people to pause to honour the ANZACS at ...the end of their driveways instead of attending dawn services. Musicians have also been encouraged to get their instruments out to play the last post. Nads Henriks has put together a little ANZAC Day Service for people to use if they want. It has one hymn, the ode, the last post and rouse on it for people to follow if they want. Thanks Nads! See more
18.01.2022 Several of us will be out in our driveways and at our front gates. Why not pop out and join us and help keep this tradition and their memory alive.

09.01.2022 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BAND ASSOC. INC PRESIDENT: Bruce Raymond SECRETARY: David Corkindale... Dear Community Band Colleagues 17 March 2020. SABA recognises that we are currently experiencing an unexpected interruption to our way of life. We recognise that some bands and individuals will have concerns with the impact that COVID-19 is having on our activities. We stress that SABA is committed to protecting the health and safety of all bands, band members and audiences. Already South Australian Bands and SABA have cancelled events which could have threatened the safety of our players and audiences. Rehearsals need to be considered and many bands have already cancelled rehearsals to protect band members and in particular those within the membership who are vulnerable. SABA recommends that bands should follow the situation through Federal and State Health department advice and also incorporate the potential impact of COVID-19 into their immediate forward planning. Information on COVID-19, including methods of protection, can be found on the: Coronavirus health information line on 1800 020 080 sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVID2019. SABA will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and communicate any necessary further advice. Bruce Raymond On behalf of the SABA Executive Committee. ___________________________________________________________________ [email protected] PO Box 309 North Adelaide 50

06.01.2022 Happy New Year!! 2020 is here and we are getting ready for another huge year. The 4th Mitcham Band Festival will be a definite highlight an extended format ...running from Friday 15 - Sunday 17 May 2020 - 3 days of Festival and Concerts including some new initiatives. We are excited by the interest shown from new and returning bands who have already registered to participate - for those who are yet to nominate, a reminder that the closing date is next week - so please contact our Festival Convenor Tamina Judd as soon as possible. This years date change to May is due solely to the availability of our much loved local venue (The Vogue Theatre) so pop these dates in your 2020 calendar, and get ready for an amazing weekend!

01.01.2022 After careful consideration, the band committee has decided to cancel rehearsals for the next 4 weeks effective immediately. This includes the rehearsals today on the 17th of March as well as 24th and 31st and the rehearsal on the 7th of April. Given the demographic of our band, we believe it is in all our interest to limit exposure. As you may be aware, the Friends of the Band/Senior Citizens Concert and the Mitcham Band Festival have been cancelled. We have not yet been... advised of the outcome of decisions around the Hahndorf Festival however given current recommendations I think it is safe to assume it will also be cancelled. We will provide an update on our future plans prior to the 7th of April, which will include the outcome of discussions around the ANZAC concert. We have not cancelled this concert at this stage however will be taking advice from SA Health briefings, NPSP Council and the various ANZAC groups. Dont be scarred by the myths going around though, some good fact pages are below. 01.01.2022 Official Statement from SA Band Association Executive - Cancellation of On-Stage Band Championships 2020 The SABA Executive met after the Federal and State G...overnment announcements last weekend about roadmaps to lifting restrictions. SABA had hoped there would be a clear indication of when bands could commence full rehearsals. This was not the case. Consequently, SABA announces that for a range of practical reasons which will be explained to bands, the State On-Stage band Championships for 2020 is cancelled. Two other states have rescheduled their Championships to October or November but have no certainty of these being able to take place. It may be permissible for SABA to hold the Solo and small ensemble Championships, with major prizes, in October or November and SABA will consult band members about keeping this option open. SABA will also consult bands on whether there would be interest in holding some form of Entertainment music Festival or event, when permissible later in the year. There would not be any fee for bands participation in such an event. Also, as soon as it is permissible and practical, SABA will hold a further Conductors Workshop and the Drum Majors Workshop.
