23.01.2022 "God can work through unworthy instruments in the Sacraments, and in the Word as well, and has already done this quite often. Ultimately, it is always God who w...orks and not the subjective holiness of the preacher, however great it may be. It is plain heresy, however, to maintain that a preacher may say only what he himself has experienced. Rather, he must proclaim Christianity as a whole, including precisely what he has not yet put into action. And his own word should burn in his soul like fire and should become for him - as Scripture says of the Word of God - a two edged sword (Heb 4:12) that cuts not only others but the preacher himself. We preach, not ourselves, but rather Christ Jesus (1 Cor 4:5), even when this is at the same time a scathing judgment upon ourselves. The subjective holiness of the preacher will always fall short of the objective holiness of the message he has to convey." Pope Benedict XVI, Dogma and Preaching, p. 56 See more

15.01.2022 THE FEAST OF BLESSED MIGUEL PRO: VIVA CRISTO REY!: Today is the Feast of Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro (1891 1927), a Mexican Jesuit priest executed for his fa...ithfulness to Jesus Christ and his Holy Church by an anti-Catholic Mexican regime which pursued, what the English writer Graham Greene described as, the fiercest persecution of religion anywhere since the reign of Elizabeth. Happy feast day! After years in exile due to the persecution of the Masonic-led government, Padre Pro arrived back to Mexico in 1926 to a country in which crucifixes had been ripped off the walls, religious statues had been smashed, Catholic publications had been closed, and many other priests had left the country fearing for their lives. Being one of the few priests at that time in Mexico, Blessed Miguel devoted his life to bringing hope to the people who were being oppressed by a government who were openly saying that they hated Jesus Christ and his Holy Church. Blessed Miguel was sentenced to death amid the Cristero War (192629), which broke out in response to that brutal persecution of Catholics. While facing his firing squad, he forgave his persecutors before raising his arms in imitation of Christ and crying out, Viva Cristo Rey! That is, "Long live Christ the King! Blessed Miguel Pro was beatified in Rome on September 25, 1988, by Pope St. John Paul II as a Catholic martyr. Blessed Miguel Pro, pray for us! Viva Cristo Rey!

08.01.2022 TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY THE ASCENSION VS. THE ASSUMPTION The main difference between the Ascension and the Assumption is t...hat Jesus ascended into the kingdom of Heaven by His own power while Our Lady's assumption depended on the power of God. Mary was assumed into heaven, not by her own power (because she is a creature like us and not divine), but by the power of her Divine Son, Jesus. Although the dogma of the Assumption was definitively "proclaimed" only in 1950 by Pope Pius XII, this belief has been upheld by the Church at least as early as the fifth century, likely from the event itself. We know that the Virgin Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken up into heaven by the power of God, because this account has been handed down to us by the Apostles and their successors. The assumption of Mary is part of the Sacred Tradition of the Church, which, along with Sacred Scripture, make up the complete Deposit of Faith. Her presence in heaven is further confirmed by the twelfth chapter of the Apocalypse: "A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head."

05.01.2022 On this most blessed Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, may we reflect on these words from today's second reading! "...He humbled himself, becoming obed...ient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
