25.01.2022 Man rescued from water by Paynesville Coast Guard On Saturday afternoon as CG22 our 35 foot Noosa Cat was performing the Tow of a disabled vessel with 5 people on board when they observed a man in the water clinging to a yellow mooring buoy near Montague Point. The man dressed in his underwear had been trying to retrieve his dingy that had broken loose, he found that in the prevailing wind conditions the dinghy was travelling faster than he could swim and he made for the buo...y as he was suffering from exhaustion. Somewhat fortuitously CG22 happened upon him whilst he still had the strength to cling to the buoy, or their may have been his dog and a pile of clothes laying on the beach and everybody scratching their head trying to figure out for a few days what had occurred. The man was bought aboard wrapped in a blanket and the existing tow of the other rescue that they had tied up alongside was completed across the bay to the Yacht Club boat ramp. A eventful day for the people on the initial broken down boat ? Montague Point is the South Westerly tip of Raymond Island across from the yacht club where several boats are moored in the lee of the point. The ambitious swimmer was later re-united with his clothes, his dog and his dingy and all were conveyed back to his small house boat no worse for wear. Please be careful when making decisions that could end your life ?

24.01.2022 Boaters and paddlers are advised that Marine Radio Victoria (MRV) currently has limited availability due to the fires in East Gippsland. MRV towers at Nowa Nowa and Mt Cann have been affected resulting in limited coverage from the coast of Lakes Entrance to Gabo Island on VHF emergency channels (including digital selective calling). Repair works are underway. Should you find yourself in an emergency situation please call 000 immediately.

09.01.2022 Yay! Early this morning (Mon) The New vessel hit the water in Paynesville. After having all its bits put back on after travelling, and a fuel fill up, it was time to take her for a spin. (Big thanks to Wolf for getting the earlier pics for me as I was running a little late.)

05.01.2022 On Friday morning June 15th a Marine Assist contributor in a 6m power boat with 3 POB requested assistance due to a breakdown 400m SE of Flat Island. Gormans... Removals Rescue (Skipper: James Fleming) departed Rosslyn Bay Harbour at 10.20 am, heading north at 20 knots. However at 11.40am, a call was received from another Marine Assist contributor in a 5m power boat with 1POB which had broken down 500m NW of Perforated Island which is 6nm further north than the original destination. Gormans Removals Rescue was diverted and the second vessel was taken in tow at 12.16pm. The rescue vessel then headed back to Flat Island and took the first caller in tow at 12.51pm. Both boats were then towed back towards Rosslyn Bay Harbour at 11 knots. Before this task was completed, a third call was received from a fisherman with 3POB in a 5m boat that had run out of oil at a location NW of North Keppel Island. As this was on the route home, when Gormans Removals Rescue reached this vessel at 2.30pm, it was rafted up alongside the rescue vessel, travelling at 9 knots for the remainder of the trip which was completed at 4pm, after an operation lasting 5 hours and 40 minutes.
